Yes... she has sacrificed SOME of her childhood... But this girl, like another Ana; Ana Vitovic, this people are GIFTED and have acted upon THAT realization. They are the best at what they do. I don't think they're unhappy at all!
Sorry to bust your bubble, people... but you CAN'T be a virtuoso at ANY age; it's NOT like going to Harvard to be a business mogul!
You have to read, people... starting with Mozart! In music particularly, one can NEVER become a virtuoso if you start later than 6-years old. And you simply HAVE TO attain virtuoso status by a certain age, or you're considered a "wash". In piano, for instance it's age 22...
So... no, you cannot start at 10 and become a virtuoso... there's ALWAYS a sacrifice!
@EaTax93 I know... there are exceptions to anything, but you know what I meant... my comment was directed at 123frizzlefry, who was looking down at gifted kids who dedicate their efforts towards their art, thereby "sacrificing" their childhood.
@sanmiguel89 So there's some arbitrary standard for when you have to peak to be a virtuoso? If you master the piano at 24 you can't be a virtuoso because you didn't hit your peak two years earlier?
I just got my first guitar at 52. I won't have time to practice 6 hours a day and I doubt that whoever the official authorities are will recognize me as a virtuoso by whatever the cut-off age is, but I'll be ahead of anyone who accepts someone else's limits on when they can start.
Well, I think it's amazing that she's able to play this kind of stuff. But I think that children of that age should be playing with friends and have a normal childhood. you can alway be a virtuoso, at any age, it shouldn't be at 9 years in my opinion.
@AOSoloist you ever think that this young lady might actually enjoy playing guitar? its mostly untrue about what u said "forcing" her to play & it being a "living hell" on a child. im a retired metal guitarist who recorded & toured with Dio for many years & i owe it to playing the classics since i was 7 yrs old. i have several young students who i have taught this piece 2 over the past 23 yrs (my 2 kids & 3 grand kids inclu.) and they are all productive adults now. gotta make it fun.
@AOSoloist It's kinda hard not to fall in love with a guitar & playing classical when you get good at it. If she was anything like me at a young age she would need no prodding to get her to practice, it's really all you want to do!
And at the expense of friends and a social life and tv, video game time, matters not, your just hooked. Or at least I was and just about every waking moment was spent playing..
Very nice playing. Also, some crazy people here don't seem to realize that someone can enjoy practicing an instrument. When you keep getting better, it's a motivation and not "a living hell".
@AOSoloist This is nonsense; she's a grown woman today who can make her own choices and still plays outstandingly well. You can't easily do something this well later in life; it's learned when young.
@AOSoloist how can you comment like you know her? looks to me like she really enjoys it and insead of pushing her, the parents might ENCOURAGE her to keep at it, its a big difference! you talk like you know for sure, you sound abit arrogant to me tbh!
@gitsurfer27 he is right, most of the music genious were forced to practice about 16 hours in a day, there is no way u can get that fast without training very much
After watching her other videos, it seems apparent that her soul is forcing her to do this. Her parents have recognized this and are guiding her in a direction that will allow her to do something that makes her soul happy for the rest of her life.
@AOSoloist exactly what i was thinking man, ive been playing guitar for close to 7 years and that kind of skill takes way too much practice for a little girl
Shoot! At 9 I was collecting trading cards and worried about when armpits would start to stink! Videos of young talent musicians can never be discouraging but always make me wish I started sooner. XD
Clearly, this girl is extremely gifted. However, the show-off piece is just as clearly a terrible choice, not at all fit for her age and for this stage of development of both her technical skills and her musical imagination.
@sgilk4 Hardly. I'm pretty sure Ana Vidovic would slay this. It's all good and well to be encouraging but you have to be honest as well. It's not constructive to give false praise.
@hueseph I so disagree with you. I never, ever criticize another guitarist. If I don't like something, I keep my mouth shut. I believe it is the most difficult instrument in the world to play and to master. Not only am I looking at her age, I'm looking at dexterity, her sense of aristocracy, and the way she fingers her instrument. I started to play at age 11. She has me beat by a mile, sir. So my compliment to this child stands. She will go far.
@sgilk4 Well perhaps that is why you've not gotten any better. You need cricique. Do you think her teacher felt this was good enough? I doubt it. I know this piece. I listened to my brother play it over and over again. He happens to teach guitar. I've been playing for a long time as well. 25 years or so. You don't get better if you think you're good enough. The only way to get better is to get critical. Actually if you listen to this girl now she is so much better than this.
@hueseph Keep your hateful criticisms to yourself. Stop picking on little children who can't fight back. This tiny little girls kicks your ass on the guitar. I believe you are jealous of her. Wow! By the way, dude, where's your Colibri video. Post a video response and show us how it is to be played!
@sgilk4 You see? That is the problem. My comment was neither hateful nor mean. I'm not picking on anybody and if you read my comment completely, complement this "little girl" she's a teen now and is a much more accomplished guitarist than in this video. She didn't get better because someone praised her without criticism. A good teacher points out the mistakes. Otherwise you don't progress. It's your insecurity that's showing here. This girl is well beyond that now.
@hueseph Then why post a criticism on this video at all? Go to the one where you believe she's better and critique that one. As far as insecurity, speak for yourself. Please play Colibri for me and post it. I would like to learn it.
@sgilk4 I've never learned this piece. I never said I could play it better but having played for many years and growing up in a household of musicians, I know what good is. This little Ana is much more accomplished now and I bet she watches this video thinking, "I can do this so much better now.". You have access to my page. You can hear me play. I don't claim to be any more than a hack but you can judge for yourself. Watch Ana play Barrios. A performance lightyears beyond this.
@hueseph Okay. Now you are admitting you are a hack. This is why I never critique players on YouTube. If I were in a situation where I was teaching, that's different. I would teach in a constructive compassionate manner. Between callueses on our left hand fingers, endless hours of frustration, left arm pain and broken fingernails, the guitar is brutal. A self-respecting guitarist does not critique undess they can teach. I will look on your page.
6 which gave the thumbs down here are frustrated because a 9 year old girl playing the guitar won them, poor and ignorant ... back to admire luxury touches only putting their age to mourn
@guillermo5mx julio sagreras no fue cubano mi estimado, era argento. No la chingues. Cubano fue el gran maestro leo brouwer, nacido en la habana y estudiado por muchos. en lo personal me gusta mas brouwer
Poor girl, she's got talent and need practice, and time will come when people can enjoy listening (and indeed watching) her. But in this world we like to USE children, in the circus..
When I see comments that are of any negative nature on a child prodigy my instinct is to be very skeptical, thinking, maybe sour grapes is the motive..BUT!! I think you are right. Like many super advanced kids, her hands can handle the piece but her musicality can't. Well not now at least, but like you say she is only nine too LOL
For being nine and full of such promise it was astounding!
@inspectormynx I disagree that the piece is too hard for her. I think her overall technique was not ideal at that age, and she'd make similar small mistakes with other pieces. But at her level this particular performance was wondeful.
@1828459045 precisely - technique not ideal at this age! Instead of teaching her to be a technical beast - with mistakes - she should be tackling easier pieces in order to develop musicality and get used to playing in a refined way... she's got plenty of time to get good technique. There are plenty of easier pieces than this that are still difficult.
@inspectormynx I think this is arguable. Looking at her progress over time (see other movies of yurylikhachev), right now she's great at musicality, expression and articulation (I think she already beats Ana Vidovic on it), and tones are very clear and soft.
On the other hand, are you sure she would achieve this level by 16 y.o, if she spent years between 9-13 to polish easy pieces? I am not. I think a student needs to make smart choices about priorities.
@inspectormynx Also, easy (or slower) piece doesn't mean she'll play it substantially better. It means that her little mistakes wouldn't be so noticeable to general audience, but glitches and imprecisions will be still there. If they will be still there, why bother about choice of a piece? If she can play this with no major mistakes (like no sounds missed, no jingling, good rythm), then why not wait till her level improves overall, and then come back and polish this piece more?
@inspectormynx Also, it feels like you assume that she didn't work to develop musicality at that time. I think this assumption have no foundation. She might have been playing this piece at 5x slower tempo and worked on musicality on it.
Also, we shouldn't forget that competition is a show. Her choice for competition doesn't necessarily need to be representative of what she's playing for training. It just needs to be effective in order to win! ;)
What stupid people say that this song is supidă, who said the 14 are the biggest losers. this is a three year melo, plus she was nine years there.if you sing and the voice ypu are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
@m4tth3 Hmm, well did you practice this song only for 16 years? I'd imagine that this is a performance peice that shes practiced continously for quite a while. Like im a shite guitarist but i can play Spanish romance to a nice level because thats one of the only songs ive practiced on a regular basis through my guitar development. I suspect that this child is either getting lessons from someone really fantastic, from a young age. Or she just has a natural talent for guitar. Well done Kid. xx
@ profitfever I didnt practice this song for 16 years, I was 16 years old as I played it and it took 2-3 months to play it with like 4-5 mistakes at that speed. Never could play it without a single mistake and she does it with 9 years. Chapeaux !
@profitfever Are you for real? Give 1000 typical 9 year olds to the best teacher in the world and you might, just might get one student like this. The teacher teaches but cannot confer talent upon the student. This is talent.
Being this good at this age, doesn't mean she will be better than John Williams. Ana Vidovic also played like this when she was 9, and now she's great, but she plays so fast and without any feeling. Not even close of John WIlliams. Andrés Segovia is still the best.
Yeah he's great.. but this is another world we cannot compare.. he cannot play like Segovia... and Segovia could never play like him.. they are both masters but in different grounds...
@RyosukeTakahashi14 And because Vidovic plays as she does doesn't mean that others will turn out that way. Logically speaking, she probably has an equal chance at both possibilities.
I have been plying guitar for over 20 years ...but I still can't play as good as this talented little girl...God bless her....

It just needs to be effective in order to win! ;)

Absolutely fantastic......wuuuh....Who cares where she had got her lessons...she is still a Talent.

She's good because someone like her parents cares to invest in lessons for her. Also, she's not listening to Taylor swift , the kid is great

Thats so sick. I've struggeled so much at this song with 16 years o_O
m4tth3 1 year ago

Chapeaux !
m4tth3 1 year ago
@m4tth3 why would you play at speed where you'd make 4-5 mistakes? The point is to really learn how it sounds with mistakes?
1828459045 1 year ago
@profitfever Are you for real? Give 1000 typical 9 year olds to the best teacher in the world and you might, just might get one student like this. The teacher teaches but cannot confer talent upon the student. This is talent.

Oh guitar more then girl!) She play very good !
NickSnake213 2 years ago
She"s better than John williams
DomCherokee 2 years ago
Being this good at this age, doesn't mean she will be better than John Williams. Ana Vidovic also played like this when she was 9, and now she's great, but she plays so fast and without any feeling. Not even close of John WIlliams. Andrés Segovia is still the best.
RyosukeTakahashi14 2 years ago
Joe Satriani's better than all of them though...
DomCherokee 2 years ago
Yeah he's great.. but this is another world we cannot compare.. he cannot play like Segovia... and Segovia could never play like him.. they are both masters but in different grounds...
hansley270 2 years ago
man.....hater AND still stuck in the Segovia era.....
Va55ili5 2 years ago
@RyosukeTakahashi14 And because Vidovic plays as she does doesn't mean that others will turn out that way. Logically speaking, she probably has an equal chance at both possibilities.
