@steelers5ty9 theres a reason they put rev limiters on engines, so you don't grenade it. as long as you don't flog the piss outta it every day, mile after mile and not hit the rev limiter, playful banter such as this is no problem at all. you should see an older type r turbo rev limit, this is childs play compared to what people will do to engines.
the SelecShift with the V6 produces the fastest times, though remember that theres a torque defecit in the high rpms. it kinda drops off around th 4,500-5,000 range even in manual for the sake of fuel econ, tis jus how it was engineered
@wilcoxStudios18 This is an I4, so obviously the V6 would have faster times. And the power drop off at the very top rpms is not done for fuel economy, thats just how engines work. Even the most high performance N/A engines have a top end drop off.
@FalcondelSur the SelecShift doesnt so much respond quicker than in the manual, but it definitely helps speed up the human factor (no crossgates). upshifts are fairly smooth and ratios are well chosen, tho it wuldnt hurt if 1st gear was a bit taller. and best part is the car blips the gas for u so u can stay pedal to the floor
@wilcoxStudios18 speaking of time response...that means it takes a longer time to change gears than in a transmission equiped with Tiptronic (VW) for example???? So taking on the car in manual mode doesn´t give a "total control" feeling of the transmission?
How does the manual transmission feel on this car? I'm considering buying one and it can only be a stick but if it doesn't feel good then I can't bring myself to get it.
@PIchillin456 Its not the best i have driven, but its definitely not bad. The most annoying thing for me about it was that the throws are a little long for my taste. Just givr it a quick test drive before you buy.
@RobLocJr My 2008 V6 Fusion did 0-60 in 6.9, this is a 4 cylinder and is definitely not going to break 7 seconds. And this car has a somewhat aggressive rev limiter, sadly, so you can push it right to the very edge or it will cut a lot of the power so my shifting was just fine.
This is wonderful, I got me a fusion to hopefully help me calm down on my driving and save gas. To my luck, I found a 2011 model with a manual transmission thinking it would save me more gas, I guess I should've done my research though, looks like there will be more fun on the road for years to come :D
Thank God for people like you who are willing to learn the art of driving a manual tranny. When the day comes that nobody knows how to drive them anymore, the auto makers are going to quit building them. And I hope that never happens because I hate torque converters.
I just got me one of those myself. Sweet ride! I also love having the manual tranny. I can't understand why they're so rare. But I feel lucky to have found it with the platinum tri-coat paint and spoiler on back. Now that I have my Fusion, I have no desire for a Mustang anymore. The 4 cylinder Fusion has all the power I need.
They must have changed it for the '11 model. I have that button for shutting off the traction control on mine. But for a front wheel drive, I can't think of any reason you'd want to shut it off.
@clavettr Yes the tcs has a sliding car button down below the climate controls. I like the TCS. But for those who like acceleration tests, it's best off. Just hit the button;)
Thats quick!! I wish i could get one of these. The price was too much a month for me. but then again i might get a good deal on a 2011 v6 stang or a camaro v6 im hoping i can get one of those haha
@Gerberbaby922 Yea the camaro weighs too much. so bulky. But i get better deals on GM products. Since i have family members working for them. Today I will see what i get. I miss driving a car.
Impressive.

@gop4usa12 It is indeed very sad that American automakers are neglecting manual trans today.

@gop4usa12 to get a better launch, spin the wheels to keep the revs up instead of just bogging down
