I still remember back when this was released online. I must've watched this trailer (and the second one) about 700 times! I was incredibly stoked for Prisoner of Azkaban. It is honestly my second favorite of the series after Deathly Hallows. Alfonso added a scope and darkness to it that really helped the series (though I do love the first two for what they are).
It's been almost 8 years since this masterpiece of a film came out. Why did these films and my childhood have to go by so fast? Long live this wonderful series.
@CoreyReviews It's very hard to believe it's been almost 8 years considering how long the wait for this movie felt. It felt like FOREVER waiting for this movie after seeing Chamber of Secrets in theaters, lol.
This is siriusly one of the better potter movies out of the series. I think it's also the most magical one... it's the little details, the cinematography, and the music. This is, without a doubt, one of the better trailers too. I absolutely love it.
@Somesaymisery heh... "siriusly". I like what you did there. I agree with you, though. Once Chris Columbus exited the picture it started feeling more like the world of Harry Potter.
I remember when i was in the 8th grade, i saw this trailer at school. My teacher had the tv on while we were doing some work in class, and the news was showing this trailer :) Now I'm 21...
Wow. I remember watching this movie for the first time at midnight at an outside theatre. I was much younger back then so parts of it were kinda scary, but the movie itself was effing awesome! To date one of my favourite HP movies on account of it being much darker than the previous two, something I loved.
The music is actually lyrics from Shakespeare's play Macbeth. In the play, it is uttered by the three witches, talking about Macbeth's eventual turn to evil. The meaning behind it is rather poignant for HP: POA because the lyrics talk about good turning to evil (Lupin to the werewolf/Pettigrew as a friend when he is really the traitor) and evil turning good (Sirius as the traitor when he was really the friend).
This is the best of teh films, it finds the perfect mix between the focus on the real personal relationships between the main protagonists but not forgetting that this is a fantsy adventure series, and magic and mystery is filled throughout the running time. The directing really brings to the forfront the fact that this is not like the world we know, this is somethign different and special. For me the transformation scene with Lupin is a perfect example of this. A Great film.
I love this movie and the teaser trailer is the best of all the Harry Potter movies. I miss John Williams on the score. The Soundtrack of this movie is the best soundtrack of the Series.
Many people didn't like this movie. But Alfonso Cuaron made a great job and other directors continue his vision. Nobody takes Chris Columbus's direction. See how Hogwarts changes from the first and second movie. Alfonso created a better Hogwarts and incredible locations
@efenege2 You're definitely right that Alfonso doesn't get nearly enough credit here, mainly because this was the first movie where some important parts were cut, such as the Marauders storyline. Also, I love Alfonso's take on Hogwarts, the way he took what Chris Columbus created in the first film and expanded on it, making everything about the movie seem more artistic. John Williams is great in all three films, but this one was the first where he actually branched out, which was great.
I think the first two Harry Potter movies were excellent for what they were. They were Harry's childhood years, pretty much. And Columbus did a great job at adding that childhood magical element to the movie. So, Columbus was the man for the movies he did. However, obviously the films gets darker, as harry gets older...
Yeah, i was in 8th grade when this trailer came out. I remember being in class, and my teacher had the tv on, during worship class, or something. This trailer came on the news. I hated school then, but seeing that trailer made my day. Now, I'm 20 and in college...crazy...just crazy...
