This is China's version of 9-11 only instead of terrorists hi-jacking planes and crashing them into buildings, it was a horrific earthquake. I think we can help appriciate the fact that we are all human and we need to help each other even if they are pleading for help.
CHINA IS MORE UNITED TODAY THAN EVER.. I WILL DIE FOR CHINA AND FOR CHINESE PEOPLE!!!! ONE CHINA ONE DREAM.. may WE ALL create a better life for all chinese.
@ulleule And you'll finally achieve the status as a developed country like the United States when you stop using the phrase "create a better life for all Chinese" and start using the phrase "for all mankind" like the American astronaut Neil Armstrong that landed on the moon over 40 years ago...
@cchanderson A lot of Americans still use phrases like that, making a better life for all Americans, instead of mankind. Not everyone is altruistic, regardless if their country is developed or not. Some Chinese care about fellow humans too, not just other Chinese.
To be fair, if the US was hit by a disaster on the scale of the Sichuan Quake, I think there would be unifying patriotic statements as well. Even here in Britain, after the 7/7 bombings (a very small event in comparison to many tragedies) there were patriotic sentiments of unity.
I share your unease about neo-nationalism and sometimes this can be seen in China, but I think we need to appreciate the volume of this situation.
Extremely sad and moving. You don't even need subtitles to understand emotion, it's universal. This is a great reminder to myself that we should come together whenever we can, not just during tragedy. Race, nationality, ethnicity, political party; none of these things should take priority over the good of all mankind.
I am an American and was there when the earth was still shaking. I want to say that the men in the Chinese Army were so great. We all helped as a team with many tears in ours eyes...like brothers...
At 3:13 the workers noticed that the woman Tried her best to protect her child by standing over him with open arms locked on for support, and died terribly to take hits of the falling building. Before that she text the phone saying that she loved him. eventually when the child grew older he will get the full picture of this awful situation.
I was making a statement. I was saying it in general, not to you Brtttany. But, on that note. America is going to have alot of natural disasters herself.
Very sad to see this, but it goes to remind us that we are all human. And that it does not matter if your in America, China, or anywhere else, we all grieve the same, we hurt and bleed the same, and we find refuge amongst the love of one another. We are living in critical times and now is the time we need to stand together so that in the future we can all help one another like brothers and sisters we are. Love you all!!!
this is one of the saddest story ive ever heard,i tried to hold back my tears while watching this but when they told the story of the mother protecting her child and eventually died.wow that was really amazing, and then her txt message for his son.
