oh my god...this is why youtube exists. this man was a sponge and loved to show what he learned and observed. this was VERY entertaining. thanks for posting it.
...i'm definatly gonna take that "swig the mic, and sing into the scotch" bit. shocked me and made me laugh out loud.
I'm thinking, was he one of the first, comic impersonators? I know he was doing this in the 50's? Acting, singing, acting WHILE singing, dancing, impersonating, comedy. WHAT didn't he do?
could well be...Danny Kaye did impressions as well tho not on a broad scale as Sammy I think.Great Great talent...dont got guys like around anymore.Allround entertainers that is...
Correct. Late at night when I wrote that and forgot most before 1960, Mostly, we have the "Idol" shows and singers of the like. Of the Greatest, was Brel, little known at all in the West (apart from the musical which translated some of his songs into English. His writings are amazing, and I do not believe will ever be equaled. Thanks for the comment!
you are most welcome :) and i have never heard about Brel.then again...i am not from the US and i dont watch Idols,Xfactor or whatever talent hunting commercial crappy show. Its all about "dial now to vote!" and that is considered with a pretty word...entertainment.
His Dean is perfect

I love this. Also used it as proof to win 20 bucks. A friend didn't believe a dance titled 'mashed potatoes' existed. LOL

true at that point he was probably still working on the voice, but you have to admit the whole intro that he used leading in was amazingly spot on.
