With all the hate in the world today, why are churches so fixated on condemning love?
America was founded on love. So people who have been condemned and persecuted by churches can find loving, protective shelter in the arms of our U.S. government, a massive human rights organization.
Bravo, General David Petraeus!!!...Be careful though, the Christian fundamentalists might start saying that you are 'gay'. Well, like the unforgettable Walter Cronkite used to say, "that's the way it is"...

DADT..is not about banning an individual but about banning the political movement inside the military. If gays serve openly--they will congregate and demand to reside on base housing. Gays will then demand a gay pride parade inside miltary bases. Gays will demand gay marriage inside General HQ. Gays officers will kiss in front of the platoon and soldiers who smirk will not be promoted.
Everything gays do on gay pride parade is what gay soldiers will do inside miltary bases
@mesquiteeagle, i think you are viscerally generalizing based on what is most visible to you... not all gays kiss in public... in fact i think most of the ones I know including myself do not like PDAs just as much as straight people... i think if I were in the military I would not push my sexuality in anyone's face because I wouldnt want them to judge on that... I think the type of people that would serve in the military are not the same type of people you see in the parades in the slightest...
Those who insist that "gays just need to keep it private" should probably think about just how often straight people get to talk about their spouses, gir/boyfriends, loved ones etc. How much do you expect gay people to "just keep quiet" about themselves, just to satisfy the insecurities of homophobes? The person with the problem is not the gay person, it's the one who has the problem with gay people. Just be a professional, and do your job, and stop worrying about who your coworker loves.
I have served honorably with the 101st Airborne Divison under General Petraeus' command. During my service I collected anecdoctal evidence to support the claims that homosexuals have the right to fight. Post military service has led me to CSU Chico where I have had the opportunity to support my anecdotal evidence with empiricle data which compares two variables (political culture, military's social status) to find that republican political culture propels State agencies to shape a mass-based pol
This is why people into identity politics like LGBT (lesbian gay bisexual, etc) hide out in academia and make an academia study about their identity politcs, same being for gender-race, etc... Its a cultural-social war being faught on DoD Turf which fits better into academia... my thought.
There is no honor in homosexuality, and that is the reason why it does not belong in the military. If you allow that, you need to rewrite the UCMJ and remove and 'moral' regulations. They could no longer flout honor as a code.
I dont' think they should change it. The policy works just fine. Homos don't have to tell anyone they're homos...I don't see why they feel they have to tell everyone in the whole world that they are homos.
I think it means that they just wouldn't discharge servicemen who admit that they're homosexual. I'd be appalled to see a soldier walking around on duty in assless chaps in any circumstances other than "lost a bet" or "too drunk to think," and the average gay would probably not flout their sexuality it because it would be socially awkward.

ok, that is the most coherent pro-DADT argument I've heard so far, but I'm not necessarily condoning gay people going around and screaming it through a bull-horn... In fact I would say they shouldn't do that. I think if you trust someone and confide in one person it shouldn't be such a big deal. Often times you can test whether someone is comfortable with it in passing. Also, I think that gay people should be able to fill out the forms where the question of spouse arises.
