  • does anyone realize that at this time fazal qureshi was zakirji's student? lol...

  • Tabla guy at left looking pretty gay :D

  • @neyzenilkay you commenting on this video = pretty gay :D

  • @speedcrazy94 so its "gayish" :D

  • @neyzenilkay and besides, i would like to see YOU do that. i can. and if you think that's gay, then show a girl this video and ask her whether she thinks the guys playing tabla are awesome. and THEN tell her its gay. i'd like to see you gettin bitch-slapped for that :D

  • @speedcrazy94

Skill is skill and gay is gay! So he is a skilled gaylord!

  • @neyzenilkay Americans are quick to term anything that doesn't appear masculine to them as gay. Pretty ignorant of them.

  • The chopping note is known as 'dhira-dhira' when bayan is also played simultaneously. when only tabla (dayan) is played then it is 'thira-thira'. One needs to slide the palm sideways over the tabla to make that sound. It needs lot of practice to perfect it.

  • jimmy page

  • the guy at the violin is sweat his ass off :D

  • @Keysforjourney It's called a "sarangi".

  • someone needs to show this guy drum and bass

  • just someone screeming!

  • | 3:20 to 3:57, I can hear EACH note played on Tabla! This is Zakir Hussain!

  • @GAMEOVER200 so how many notes during that time? tell us please.

  • @leirozagnes | Dude, what he's playing is "tir tir Keetay tak" (khaali) and he played it 16 times. I don't know what your intention was but Take good Care! :)

  • These guys are chopping so hard! I can't even fathom the technique required to roll like that. Some day I hope to learn to do it though.

  • ustad Sultan Khan yes! yes! yes!

  • Hey please search for - Ramachandra Bhakta tabla on youtube and the first 2 videos are of mine playing my tabla. For perfect search of videos type-

    1. Ramacandra Bhakta solo vadan and

    2. Ramachandra Bhakta dilli rela....

Please please please do watch it and give me your valuable comments pls!!!

  • Please view my tabla solo video in competition. Just search "Jibran Tabla," and my most recent one will be the second video.Comments are really appreciated, thanks a lot!

  • wah ustad wah

  • _/\_

  • tapan modak is better than this.....just saying

  • @xXGuyannaDarknessXx I MUST kindly disagree with you. There's a reason tapan doesn't have "ustad" in front of his name and there is a reason zakir does have "ustad" in front of his name.

  • @taal610 why

  • tapan modak is better than this

  • ye bhi sun Rekha

    maza ayega

    u will enjoy dear

  • - Naked Lady Gaga. C0000M - - Lady Gaga's old friend Brendan Sullivan wrote a piece about her early days for Esquire's 'Women We Love' issue

  • And the other tabla nawaz is Zakir's brother Fazal Quereshi

  • Great performance, the 17 dislikes came from creatures with no soul.

  • One of the BEST pieces I've EVER heard, I SWEAR!

    Long Live ZakirJi

  • woah!!!

  • wah yar kai bat ha ap ki

  • this is soo funny!!

  • @travis5352 Cool story bro. The lack of musicality in the metal genre is even more hilarious and ironic (ironic because some people think metal is actually music, lol). Haha.

  • @Dzongka you just stick to your tribal animal music.

  • @travis5352 This is classical music, just like the music the Europeans were listening to during the Enlightenment. Also, as I'm sure your aware, metal is probably the most looked-down upon genre for its ugly, primitive, and guttural sounds, and complete lack of musicality. And since you're the one intruding upon this fine piece of music, I have every right to say fuck off back to the dark moshpit from hence you came, you disgusting, unappreciative piece of late Twentieth Century shit. Go on now.

  • @Dzongka i thought this was a comedy video because one of my friends sent it to me with the intentions of me laughing. smd.

  • @travis5352 So kindly GTFO.

  • O.o HAX!

  • 0:31 where the hell does zakir go, what a hero

  • Lol when I watch tabla videos, I stop blinking for some reason. My jaw literally drops without exaggeration. Life is awesome...

  • too gud!!

  • lol this tablachee is from ajab gharana! lol jkzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • This is really interesting. I literally just heard about these this week and because I've just started playing percussion with a band (I'm a kit player usually) but this is awesome. What's the string instrument the guy on the right is playing? I'm new to Indian instruments.

  • @zedrummer0 It's a sarangi.

  • the faces are funny

    tabla's even better

  • to fully appreciate this is to see it live. One of the greatest concerts I've been to. Also, to even feel greater appreciation is to learn these instruments.

  • if i could do that, idk what i would do with that knowledge..

  • Jaw Dropping!! OMG!!

  • fantastic i have lost the language to express my feelings.

  • Jeeze, they're having a great time

  • Hail! the King!

  • He KILLED that Dhere Dhere. Wow.

  • what is some other good stuff of this style on you tube if I liked this? awesome

  • @anthonya13 do you mean the instruments that they play?

  • there are a lot of different tabla masters and even students who are on youtube. Try others such as Tari Khan or Anino Chatarjee.

  • such an incredible instrument, i would recommend any drummers to master at least on other percussive instrument, and make it this one!

  • @lostxalice the same to you.

  • Comment removed

  • One question.. ¿Somebody knows what is the name of this string instrument? Thank you!

  • Thats a Sarangi...

  • @kunstundleben07 it's called a sarangi

  • Zakir is amazing on the tabla, the speed he reaches is incredible. The guy playing the strings sounds so devotional.

  • Why don't you try doing that? don't make derogatory comments unless 1) you've met the artist or 2) you are a practitioner yourself. please. don't make a fool of yourself...

  • @speedcrazy94 one word four letters.

  • How about you learn to respect music as it is. If you dont like music, you can go back to listening to your lame ass screamo bullshit. That is your definition of music right?

  • Lol I love how they just keep on going...

  • is there a name to this song

  • это не табла

    что за олухи?

Индия и Египет это разные страны.

    Не путайте их музыкальные инструменты!

  • legend.

  • Brilliant

  • wa taj,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • hey, guys u should know, that zakir's tabla is very heavy!!!! u know... thats y the sound is really goooddd!!!!!!

  • Tabla drums are amazing, theres a trick where you hit the top, then immediately slide your palm accross the top to "bend" the note, almost like a string on a guitar. ABSOLUTELY amazing

  • @epiphysis It has something to do with the vibration, I think.

  • @epiphysis the same can be done with Congas and Bongos. Giovanni Hidalgo considered the best conga player in the world does it with utter ease

  • zakir you are the best

  • who is table navees and sarangi navees??plz any one can tel me?

  • greatest tabla player in the world

  • the end, before he makes the beat with his voice first is the best in that video!

It's awesome how synchronic they play that part together...

  • it sounds like "the devil went down to kurgistan"

  • @riverofchains "Kurgistan", or Kyrgyzstan, is not near India, and has absolutely nothing to do with Indian culture.

  • @Dzongka kurgistan/kyrgyzstan, tomatoe/ tomahto, indian/izbekhistani. same thing. don't get your panties/pantees in a wad.

  • @riverofchains Go get some geography/cultural lessons. I think you'll find that saying Central Asia and South Asia are the same thing is like saying Finland and Greece are the same thing.

  • @Dzongka i live in greece. i'm an ottoman. you won't find me because i wear shemaghs all the time. siktir git sen aptal deve.

  • @riverofchains "Fuck off you stupid camel"? You're really original. I don't care what or where you're from. Just get some geography lessons for everyone's sake, all right?

  • your an idiot.

  • I am so glad I found this. I love tabla

  • 3:50 onwards... Masterful indeed.

  • BRAVO______________BRAVISSIMO!

I was told by this young Indian buddy who I met @ a concert about Mr. Hussain & everything he said is TRUE! It transform you spiritually and musically. **********

  • zakir is the greatest percussionist that ever lived

  • My god I love this gat! And Fazel Qureshi is good, but nowhere near Zakir. He was struggling so much to keep up. Zakir is da man!

  • guys i listen to tool a lot and i know they have used these instruments in some of their songs woul dyou guys help me out which songs i know wings for marie 2 has a tabala solo

  • RIght in Two has an extensive tabla solo and Intension as well. Disposition also on Lateralus uses it sparingly and also the drummer for ISIS uses the tabla in the song Stone To Wake A Serpent

  • hahaha what the fuck did you just say?

  • that looks like jimmy page!

  • the best

    nothing like this music

  • WTF? XD

  • der mann ist der beste

Like a Sarangi/Tabla duet album or the likes.

    Thank you!

  • limewire

  • I love this recording---I enjoy the two demonstrations immensely.... Would someone mind telling me what Mr. Hussain says here?

  • Hey what do you guys think of how my cousin plays tabla?

    watch?v=pL2vniLV1ns

  • wow...thats amazing!!!! its amazing how the sarangi can keep playing the same thing OVER and OVER and OVER again becaause sometimes after playing something over and over again, you lose it. Epic.

  • can you tell me whih type of metal is better for dayan wood, brass or chrome

  • Nothing like this music

  • fantastic!

  • I have sat behind Zakir Hussain and know him personally. I know his daughter too. I just want to say that he is not only a great tabla player, but a great person too.

  • do you know what that string instrument being played there is called?

  • the instrument u refer to is called a sarangi..an old instrument with a great history..here usatd sultan khan ji is playing... for more detailed info check it up on google...sarangi..god bless

  • He's the guitar player from Led Zeppelin

  • Oh. I know the band Led Zeplin. I have a lot of songs by them on my iTunes, but I don't know anyone in the actual band. I don't really look at that I only listen to the actual music.

  • hahahahaha... he does kinda look like Jimmy Page LOL that's funny

  • The tabla player looks like an Indian Jimmy Page

  • Who is Jimmy Page?

  • holy crap!!!! he really does!!!!

  • holy chops!

  • Is Sultan Khan still alive?

  • this is an awesome video

  • Is this Tabla Beat Science?

  • na its not m8

  • traditional Indian music is awesome

  • what are those notes, 128ths ?? 256?

  • 9000th notes!

  • just 32ths

  • by my count this is just in 4/4. At least the stringed instrument is(?)

    I wish I wus smarter.

  • Good observation. This beat is called Teental it is a rhythmic pattern consisting of 16 beats. The basic theka goes like Dha dhin dhin dha dha dhin dhin dha dha tin tin ta tete dhin dhin dha.

  • The stringed instrument is called a Sarangi. It is being played by Ustad Sultan Khan ji one of the greatest maestros of that instrument.

  • Thanks!

    It's beautiful!

  • Zakir Hussain is amazing!

He's playing London Barbican on Friday 19 June!

  • Fantastic.

  • Does anyone know the name of this song and if it´s released on any label?

  • This is on the CD Sonorous Sound of Sarangi, it's one of the gats in raga charukeshi.

  • Thank you so much!

  • Actually, I may be wrong, I just realized. It sounds a lot like that gat, but they are different. Sorry about that. But they are both extremely godly.

  • it sounds more like maru-bihag if you ask me. charukesi surely is suddha madhyamam, while here he is playing parti-madhyamam.

  • Thanks for showing world that you people can not think beyond that.

  • aggeles excellent said, Thanks.

  • these guys are amazing! to say they are in 'the zone' an understatement. and to those who think they are showing off, let me say that it takes tens of thousands of hours of practice to be able to play such sophisticated rhythms in time with the music so perhaps, just perhaps, a little respect is in order....a musician like myself can only hope to achieve such a command of my instrument in a lifetime. 1

  • he's referring to ninO157!

  • ???
