@briankimberling yeah.. i run these on a 600ww psu. You might not wanna cf though and just buy a higher end card. AMD's crossfire drivers are really really bad for most games.
Hi guys, Does anyone knows if my 500 watt PS can handle a 5770 CF? I am planing to upgrade my system and remove my old but not bad 4850. I have seen lots of coments about getting 2 of these in CF is even better than a 5850 and for a couple of bucks less. But my PS is 500W If someone knows about please respond :) Thanks.

Where do I get the golden thing to connect the two grapics card... I'm thinking of buying another 5770 to crossfire it but I'm a newb when it comes to this kind of stuff also what sort of power supply is required, I fear my PC's power supply is too low... Does xFrie 5770 need a larger power supply than just a 5770 alone? Please help!
I build my own gaming Pc. I installed 2 2tb, with I7 processor. Asus republic of gamers mother board. The only part I regret with all honesty, is getting the ATI Radeon HD 5770 vapor-x, Its not horribly bad for the majority of games, but its really an entry level Card in gaming, but upper level card for daily use. I mostly Play Flight Simm and the card sucks for Flight Sim X ( yes I know its an extreme game with respect to graphics) But the 6900 is a world of difference, and in the end worth it
i installed new 2 hd6870 cards and a 750 w psu and connected these with bridge and in most games it runs slower then with one card .. how can that be? what is wrong with my setup and do you have any ideas?
also my psu has plugs for pci express 3 and and i do not know what it means and how to connect using those plugs.. i connect using normal plugsa
@VoLtrex31 a 5770 cf setup is a good choice if you look at the performance and pricing, the reasen that i switched to a 470GTX is because im also in to folding.
I have a single 5770 and a 720p monitor. I'm thinking of getting a 1080p monitor, but I don't know how a 5770 will do in terms of new games like Crysis 2 and BF3 with AA on. Will setting up a crossfire have me set for those games in 1080p? 30fps is very good imo so I don't need 60 or anything >_>
I see your comment about no longer having this particular card but did you notice any overhang from the card? As in would the fan/casing on the card make the PCI slot below unusable. I can't really tell for sure in this video.
@one2gfx Ahaha ;D, yh same here, im getting the Phenom II X6 because i mostly design and render 3D animations, along with 8GB of 1600 Mhz DDR3 RAM and 1 HD 5770 for gaming ^^
@playmovie696 - Am I the only person who gets nauseous because of the low framerate on consoles. I built my rig for £500-ish. Q6700@3.6GHz 2X2GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer DDR2-800MHz @ 865MHz 4-4-4-12-3T 2.0V ASUS P5Q Premium 2x 5770 Non-Reference CrossFireX @ Stock 850/1200 XFX 650W XXX Modular PSU LiteOn iHAS524 24X DVD-/+RW Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 750GB 32MB Cache SATAII HDD Antec 900 Case CoolerMaster Hyper N520 CPU Heatsink
I managed a basic gaming setup for a backup PC: Started with an old offbrand 80 GB hard drive i ripped out of my old pc, and a burned copy of windows xp, went to newegg and got an ASRock N68 Mobo, Athlon ii x3 435 unlocked to x4 (quad core), 4 GB of kingston cheapy 1066 DDR2 RAM, Coolmax 350W PSU, and an XFX HD 4550 512 Mb.
Final cost: $250.
Runs new games like BC2 medium settings DX9 1024x720 with 30+ fps. You just gotta know what you are doing is all. A self build is cheaper.
how did you get both of them to work? i got same ones but i cant get them to work at same time.... you know why? or can you give me an video on so i can do the same as the video do? ;D
is it me or do people normally take off there IDE cable before showing there rig or am i just a big noob and ide cables are now obsolete nd a better type of cable is now available? IDE cables are so ugly :( i just finished my first ever build :)
@one2gfx O cos have heard of SATA cables, but i taught they are only for Hard Drives, all my hardware are new except for my old CDr/rw Rom Drive. Do new drives now have SATA ports? If they do, i guess thats why i was a bit confused
I suspected that we can't connect more than 3 LCDs with 2 Cards in CFX.
But I'm using 6 LCDs with Sapphire HD 5870 2GB Eyefinity Ed. card, so we can connected 6 LCDs per PC just with a single card. Big plus is I got that card for a huge instant rebate ($120!!) Original cost was $400 on ewegg. If anyone interested, check out there by searching this model - 100290SR. Card is rock solid but 6 LCDs would cost a bomb. Am using 6-Viewsonic 27" LCDs (VX2739WM).
@jbrige i dont know for sure, but i think the 650 wil do the job if its a coolermaster real power pro 650, because this psu has 2 pci-e 6pin power cables and the power consumption of 2 5770 are not so very high at load.
But if your system is overclocked with lot of fans and lights enz, the 650 is maybe not enough.
ive got a palit gtx460 atm and if i want to sli do i have to get another palit gtx460 or could it be a xfx gtx460 for example. does it have to be EXACTLY the same?
@666krypt0nit3 , the upper card is a bit hotter, but only 2/3 degrees celcius, but remind that the case airflow can make a lot of difference.
If the case is not having a nice airflow go for cards with the heat exhaust, those are the closed coolers that blows hot air out of the back from the graphics card.
a) What was the Temperature when both are firing up with highest settings?
b) Is that case good enough? (air flow, cooling etc)
c) Because of P55 chipset design limitation, adding 2nd card in the 2nd PCIe slot will reduce the PCI lanes by 1/2 (from x16 to x8). How was that experience? I mean, you happy with the FPS under high settings?
d) What was the max. power load with highest setting?
Please answer. Am considering to go for 5770 CF or single 5850 Toxic 1 GB.
@akula2shark , the temps under stress for half an our with furmark was about 70c/75c, this case is first very silent, second the airflow you can create is very nice because of the separeted chambers, but the psu must have longer cables if you want a nice cablemanagent that also effects the airflow about the lanes its a 3% loss in performance. Dont know about the powerconsumption, but my 700 CM PSU worked fine on it. I sold the vapors, now im running a 470gtx twin frozr 2 later on a second one.
Thanks for responding. I would like to stick to Sapphire 5850 Toxic Edition. But what is the benefit one gets with a 2 GB card? I'm thinking to go for 1 GB model. My config in brief:
Core i7 - 2600 Processor (K series doesn't support Vt-d and HT so it's ruled out).
Mobo: Asus P8P67 Deluxe or Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD5 (I heard Giga mobos are having some probs?).
Quello è un ComputeR! Alimentatore diviso da una barriera per favorire il raffreddamento agli alti piani, 2 5770 vapor x con crossfire, processore eccellente e per di più silente..
Not bad for a rook job. You cables are all over the place which is bad for cooling and it looks like you haven't connected you aux power cable into the PCI area. I would look into this because if you have that much wattage being pull from your PCI bridge it will effect your mother board. Even if you have power connected to your video cards.
Can anyone tell me if crossfire 5770 is better than having a single for any of the following?
HD 5970
HD 5870
HD 6870
GTX 580
GTX 480
GTX 470
Where do you think a Crossfire 5770 stand among all of these? Also, do a lot of games even take advantage of crossfire? I don't want to play games and be like I am only using 1 card.
Have you thought about doing Eyefinity, many people say you can not with these VGAs, but I think it is because they have not had, and do not know how powerful they really are haha lols! There are several videos in which they do so without problems even in heavy games like gta4 and crisys, now I have mine connected to a monitor 32, do you believe that support other 2? haha I look like a nerd with nothing to do xD!
I have the same configuration buth mine are xfx, the same power supply, p5q-deluxe, qx9650 oc 3.96ghz, case:cooler master 690 advance 2 what temperature is your crossfire, mine at idle is 40 ° Celsius and is no more than 60 playing in 1080x1920 crisys 8xAA, despite being xfx, yours are vaporx, what temperature do you have? is true that they are much cooler? I really like to know
@Samfl100 Hey there, i go for a silent system so my casefans are running at low rpm, the pc is running 24/7 at folding@home on the cpu and 1x 5770, the gpu temp is 70° C(24/7) with a light 940Mhz overclock.
Shit dude I have pretty much the exact same rig lol except my PSU is an Antec 750w, my case is a NZXT tempest & my CPU cooler is Noctua NH-U12P SE2 but everything else is the same! How awesome is the MSI GD65 ah? I love it! My OC genie takes it to 3.8Ghz still with decent temps & I have my 5770s OC'd to 950MHz core clock & 1400MHz memory clock.
Hey this board im getting has 2 pci slots inbetween the 2 pcie 2.0 x16 slots, would i still be able to use crossfire? because im a confused! please respond asap.
@ciaranst benchmarks will tell u that 5770s are better but do note the crossfire drawbacks (high power supply, crossfire ready motherboard, runs hotter, more noise tho that all depends on what model u get the vapor-x makes very little noise under fullload and runs cool) if u plan to crossfire the vapor-x 5770 i would recommend otherwise the 6870 would be the better option
yea i took all that into account im going to be getting a ASUS CROSSHAIR IV FORMULA - AM3 SOCKET Motherboard But i think ill buy a single 5850 because i can get it cheaper and the performance difference isn't that much
@ciaranst i want to also add that some games, very very few but they do exist, don't support crossfire but those games could prob be run easily with only one card
@one2gfx yep i should prob sell the other one ( i sold the left over) and use the money i get to get a better one >.> but i don't feel like using my integrated 3200 for a week :( lol express shipping ^.^
@ime181 haha wanna give me my 200 bucks for it back? and i need s+h lol i sold it on ebay for a decent price ( only made $5 less than the price because i had it sitting arround awhile}
@sweatygrowler Yes they have to be from the same chip type/series, some new motherboards have the option(LucidLogix hydra chip) to use diferrent chip types/series and/or combination nvidea and amd(ati) cards.
@one2gfx I'm pretty sure sweatygrowler was asking make as in manufacturer. Which the answer to that question is, No. The manufacturer's can be different as long as the chipset is the same for both cards.
@Edge0fPain thats weird, and in the motherboard box?, if there are no bridges contact the manufacterer in your country or ask the shop where you buy the gcards and/or the motherboard, i thin kthey wil send you a bridge free of charge.
No bridge with the motherboard box. Maybe it's because I bought it from Ebuyer, which are a warehouse so that means they sell lots of OEM system builder stuff, which means some stuff doesn't come with everything unless it's the retail version.
e.g. they sell retail CPUs which come with stock coolers and OEM CPUs which do not. I'll try to contact Ebuyer anyway, thanks :]
@chrissyburns1 i just baught the overcloacked vapor x edition and recomended power supply just for the card is 450watt..... soo i would suggest a 750 and if overclocking or getting a second card.... id go for 850 or more... just incase
@chappy45111 If he(chrissyburns1) not overclocking his cards and/or cpu the 650 is enough for the crossfire setup, i use a 750W and my system is overclocked included both cards.
My system is constant at 100% load and one of the gpu's also at F@H, with no power problems at all.
hey there, i have aspirations of doing a similar setup like yours, i have a msi 770 g45 am3 socket motherboard, with a phenom iix2 555 dual core, one HIS 5770, just need a second 5770 gpu and a case that mounts the psu on the bottom..as my current case does not, that is my next thing im doing..how do you like crossfire for gaming? feel a performance increase?
You have to pay attention that you don't get a bottlenech effect with either two 5770 or a 5870. If you want to use one of that alternatives you may need a new processor...

Im getting a ASUS P7P55D-E PRO and 2 5770 in crossfire, im just wondering if the bridge is to short the bridge that comes with the card its 7cm long and the motherboard seems to be long spaced from the two pci e 2.0 x16 slots will the 7 cm bridge work PLZZ help me?
if i did want to do this could I use one XFX 5770 ad say one vapor-x 5770. thanks.

Original cost was $400 on ewegg. If anyone interested, check out there by searching this model - 100290SR. Card is rock solid but 6 LCDs would cost a bomb. Am using 6-Viewsonic 27" LCDs (VX2739WM).
Good night!!!

@jbrige the 5770 in crossfire delivers good performance for the latest games like black ops at max settings(1680x1050 +/- 90fps)
About the psu, you have to try it, but i think it wil do fine ;)
Cheers!
one2gfx 1 year ago
@jbrige i dont know for sure, but i think the 650 wil do the job if its a coolermaster real power pro 650, because this psu has 2 pci-e 6pin power cables and the power consumption of 2 5770 are not so very high at load.
But if your system is overclocked with lot of fans and lights enz, the 650 is maybe not enough.
You have to try it i think.
Cheers ;)

ive got a palit gtx460 atm and if i want to sli do i have to get another palit gtx460 or could it be a xfx gtx460 for example. does it have to be EXACTLY the same?

@sweatygrowler
Any brand GTX460 will be fine for SLI.

@sweatygrowler You can use other brands, the only thing is that the GPU have to be identical.

@one2gfx Does having another card directly below another put any heat on the bottom card?
666krypt0nit3 1 year ago
@one2gfx Does having that card directly below another put any heat on the bottom card?
666krypt0nit3 1 year ago
@666krypt0nit3 , the upper card is a bit hotter, but only 2/3 degrees celcius, but remind that the case airflow can make a lot of difference.
If the case is not having a nice airflow go for cards with the heat exhaust, those are the closed coolers that blows hot air out of the back from the graphics card.
one2gfx 1 year ago
@one2gfx
Please clarify:
a) What was the Temperature when both are firing up with highest settings?
b) Is that case good enough? (air flow, cooling etc)
c) Because of P55 chipset design limitation, adding 2nd card in the 2nd PCIe slot will reduce the PCI lanes by 1/2 (from x16 to x8). How was that experience? I mean, you happy with the FPS under high settings?
d) What was the max. power load with highest setting?
Please answer. Am considering to go for 5770 CF or single 5850 Toxic 1 GB.
akula2shark 1 year ago
@akula2shark , the temps under stress for half an our with furmark was about 70c/75c, this case is first very silent, second the airflow you can create is very nice because of the separeted chambers, but the psu must have longer cables if you want a nice cablemanagent that also effects the airflow about the lanes its a 3% loss in performance. Dont know about the powerconsumption, but my 700 CM PSU worked fine on it. I sold the vapors, now im running a 470gtx twin frozr 2 later on a second one.

@one2gfx
RAM: Corsair 4x4GB DDR3-1600
PSU: Corsair 650-HX.

@varnlestoff Get the HD 5970 2GB GDDR5 better then having two cards

ciaranst 1 year ago
@ciaranst benchmarks will tell u that 5770s are better but do note the crossfire drawbacks (high power supply, crossfire ready motherboard, runs hotter, more noise tho that all depends on what model u get the vapor-x makes very little noise under fullload and runs cool) if u plan to crossfire the vapor-x 5770 i would recommend otherwise the 6870 would be the better option
SupAndy123 1 year ago
@SupAndy123
yea i took all that into account im going to be getting a ASUS CROSSHAIR IV FORMULA - AM3 SOCKET Motherboard But i think ill buy a single 5850 because i can get it cheaper and the performance difference isn't that much

to crossfire a graphics card do both of th cards need to be the same make (xfx etc) or just the same chip type? cheers
sweatygrowler 1 year ago
@sweatygrowler Yes they have to be from the same chip type/series, some new motherboards have the option(LucidLogix hydra chip) to use diferrent chip types/series and/or combination nvidea and amd(ati) cards.
Cheers :)
one2gfx 1 year ago
@one2gfx I'm pretty sure sweatygrowler was asking make as in manufacturer. Which the answer to that question is, No. The manufacturer's can be different as long as the chipset is the same for both cards.

@Edge0fPain thats weird, and in the motherboard box?, if there are no bridges contact the manufacterer in your country or ask the shop where you buy the gcards and/or the motherboard, i thin kthey wil send you a bridge free of charge.
Cheers ;)
one2gfx 1 year ago
@one2gfx

@chrissyburns1 i just baught the overcloacked vapor x edition and recomended power supply just for the card is 450watt..... soo i would suggest a 750 and if overclocking or getting a second card.... id go for 850 or more... just incase
chappy45111 1 year ago
@chappy45111 If he(chrissyburns1) not overclocking his cards and/or cpu the 650 is enough for the crossfire setup, i use a 750W and my system is overclocked included both cards.
My system is constant at 100% load and one of the gpu's also at F@H, with no power problems at all.
one2gfx 1 year ago
hey there, i have aspirations of doing a similar setup like yours, i have a msi 770 g45 am3 socket motherboard, with a phenom iix2 555 dual core, one HIS 5770, just need a second 5770 gpu and a case that mounts the psu on the bottom..as my current case does not, that is my next thing im doing..how do you like crossfire for gaming? feel a performance increase?
rauleeter 1 year ago
@rauleeter Hello!, dont crossfire on that board, the second pci-e slot is 4x instead of x16.
My advice, if you want to go faster(gaming) sell the 5770 and buy a 5870, it wil give more perfomance because of the second pci-e slot at 4x.
one2gfx 1 year ago
@rauleeter
You have to pay attention that you don't get a bottlenech effect with either two 5770 or a 5870. If you want to use one of that alternatives you may need a new processor...
That's what I think...
