Often that means loosing quite a but of sanity on the way, resulting in some becoming "stingy fucks". However the best way to understand why they did what they did is to ask and wait till the end of their reasoning to see if what they say holds any merit. To not have your parents in your life so young can easily become something you get used to as you get older. And later on in life it will get harder to mend.
