  • And yet this pest still continues to reappear. Daleks will continue to search for Davros! He is now an enemy of the daleks! He will be EXTERMINATED! As the imperial daleks will be EXTERMINATED!

  • And yet this pest still continues to reappear. Daleks will continue to search for Davros! He is now an enemy of the daleks! He will be EXTERMINATED!

  • THEM DALEKS DON'T JOKE

  • quite funny!!!

  • This is the begining!!! D8<

  • EXTERMINATE!!!! XD

  • wow, the gunshots were terrible.

  • @benjiboypoo you have to remember that they didn't have anything better back then. and they had a shoe string budget.

  • @DALEK86 ya but i wasnt born... i grew up in all great technology ith computers and mobile phones, coz im 11. i wasnt into dr who till the end of the second revived series with david tennant, and i watched the eccleston and tennant ones sice and i like matt smith. paul mcgann was ok... i saw the film.

  • @benjiboypoo dosen't really matter. i'm 14, and the first series i saw was just at the end of the 2005 series. the effects don't really matter, it's the story, and this one is one of the best :)

  • "Yards" - well known fact that all aliens measure distances in English / Imperial measurements.

    Made me lol.

Additionally, that time ring brought back memories. And I'm only 19. Why the fuck do I remember this? O_O

  • they killed davros flatley, now they need to kill his brother stavros flatley

  • daleks give me the creeps

  • @martinh103 The attack of the evil pepper pots :)

  • This is the first Dalek episode I ever saw, and still the best!

  • Simple flick of a switch on his chair. Davros would of been saveed.

  • Now this is proper Doctor Who.

And that's why you should be careful with programming. :)

  • @wisteela After a couple of years from those EARLY (Middle?) 1970's DOCTOR WHO Tv series-Your remark on CAREFULWITH PROGRAMMING remark is...Well, *hil-lari-ous!* Look at the 1980's design of that Robotic GM PONTIAC TRAN-AM KITT from the show KNIGHT RIDER-At least that machine had MANUAL OVER-RIDE SWITCH...Unlike that of the newer models back then of VCRS,those things DIDNT have No *Manual TRACKING CONTROL,-BUILT DIRECTLY INTO MACHINE* But those Daleks wasnt entirely Robotic-They had MUTANT BRAIN

  • @OLDSCHOOLHHSEX tl;dr

  • @Mulitfrog Sorry,Ah dont text much, What does ->tl;dr mean? Ah seen ALOT of early Doctor Who series,But that Time Ring caught me off guard...=( From Where did THAT Episode come from?

  • @OLDSCHOOLHHSEX tl;dr - too long; didn't read.

But in hindsight I actually ended up reading your comment so you might as well ignore it :)

I think this was the first episode the ring appeared in - it features in the following episode, Revenge of the Cybermen, too. The ring also appears in some novels (apparently) but tbh. I was just reminiscing of this episode ^^

  • REAL DEAL daleks..... god i love them like this... I wish the bbc would go back and review there dalek technology... davros walked this hit off like a true master

  • REAL DEAL daleks..... god i love them like this... I wish the bbc would go back and review there dalek technology

  • LOL, cheap dalek killing effects ftw

  • Daleks are gay. The Wirrrn and Ice Warriors are far more scarier.

  • @fatpizzaman They have no gender and no need for any sexual relations, therefore they cannot be gay. Come up with a better insult.

  • @MrPsychic8472 "gay" as in 'uncool', 'pathetic', 'stupid'. They don't scare me. I prefer the Gay Dalek videos, they are funny as fuck! :)

  • the daleks lite went out

  • The shot of the dalek is fake, its just a picture with a drawing, ooh mistakes, when the dalek talks in 2:56 the light dosent go up

  • This was the single most epic death in Doctor Who history.

  • 15 people later became Dalek victims.

  • Goosebumbs

  • Is this with Sarah-Jane?

  • the laser effects are soooo crap

  • @legoman14059 i know

  • oh those spishal efects are...adoribel

  • Davros's scream is bloodcurdling! The Daleks are an example of something

that has been made too well!-They are superior to every other living being

even the one who created them.

Tom baker's era had some of the best stories in the entire history of the

show and this is one of them!

Michael Wisher is excellent in this, his is the definitive Davros.

The only other actor who comes close to this performance is the new Davros

    (julian bleach).

  • I really miss this version of the daleks. Their voices were friggin' scary, and would have been so much more better if they used the same voice actor and VFX [or someone who could do it almost as good].

Don't get me wrong, Nick Briggs does the daleks good, they just lack that "bite" the '79 versions [both Destiny and Genesis daleks] had.

  • LOOKS LIKE 15 PPL MISSED TRHE LIKE BUTTON

  • The Trash Cans Are Coming! OBEY! OBEY!

    EXTERMINATE!

  • I don't know who he is, but this guy plays Davros a hell of alot better than Julian Bleach. They should make the new Davros more like this one when they bring him back. And make the Daleks shout when they say "exterminate" like they do here... it sounds way cooler xD

  • @PS3Worshipper The actor of this Davros is Michael Wisher.

  • @EmeraldGekko Oh OK, thanks.

  • @PS3Worshipper Anytime

  • maybe it would have been best not to bring davros back in later episodes. This story tells us why daleks have NO "Pity" for other life forms, not even their high ranking creator. Later Davros returns and then onward, all classic stories envolve davros. Too bad.

  • These Daleks were da bomb, as opposed to the new "exterminate the rainbow" CGI Daleks.

  • What was the explanation for Davros coming back in future years? He seemed to be exterminated here. This is probably my favourite ever Doctor Who story.

  • @doubledeckers back up life systems.

  • wow the old daleks were a lot scarier...they could kill 3 people with one shot. something those stoopid power ranger daleks can't even make a plan work without being turned to stone ¬¬'

  • I wonder if Davros wished he could have taken his Daleks back to Best Buy for a rebate, lol.

  • @sixstringsentence stop hating on the new retro daleks. they though the doctor would end the universe and that belief caused their end.

  • @OmegaShenron6574 I'll hate on the new daleks if I want lol they should have deducted that it was the TARDIS not the Doctor that would end the universe since he was in their clutches and being sealed in the pandorica...therefore they're STOOPID!!!!!!

  • Davros's greatest creation yet also his own undoing, just goes to show, even the smartest of people aren't prefect

  • Genesis of the Daleks is a fantastic Dr Who story Michael Wisher

is a great Davros. The voice of the dalek in this scene is Roy Skelton

-he was also the voice of zippy and george in the children's series

    Rainbow.

  • the episode came from "genesis of the daleks"

  • Something good from the daleks? Well after they exterminate a city traffic is fine, and there is a lot less noise.

  • wow - classic Who

    when Daleks looked like DALEKS

    and Silurians looked like SILURIANS

and when 'the doctor' looked like 'The Doctor'

    not like the current series

  • @walter0bz What do you mean? Bow ties are cool ;D

  • I loved doctor who in those days. Ian Marter as Harry was one of the best companions. A wonderful actor who died at 42. He would be 66 this year if he were alive.

  • Wow, Davros actually acknowledged that humans could help the Daleks! :O That's a shocker! :P

  • @davefgranger partially they are they've been intergrated in the machine suits that davros had created for them to live.

  • @davefgranger before the concept was taken further the daleks were essentially mostly robotic but then they adapted them in later series to be kaled mutant inside - since Davros genetically modified them to feel no emotion other than hate (and pride to an extent) they are in a way 'programmed'

  • creepy

  • so true...the daleks scared the ........out of me when i was a kid.lol

  • Davros should have remained dead.

  • I'll bet Davros was regretting making the Daleks with no conscience or emotions at the end.

  • I love dalek episodes.

Ryders Death scene is one of the worst I've seen tho. Notice how he looks back to check where the post is first lol.

  • Davros: The Automated Dalek production line has been started. I gave no such order, who did?

Dalek 1: I gave the command.

Davros: You will perform no function unless ordered by me. You will obey only my commands, the production line is to be altered immediatly.

  • I hate how people describe the daleks as emotionless. The speech is full of emotion. Pride and anger.

  • Davros: Have Pitty!

Daleks: Pitty, I have no understanding of the word, it is not regestered in my vocabulary bank, EXTERMINATE! lol.

  • he looks like my dead grandmother use to look when she was alive and thats why i was never keen on giving her a kiss goodbye!

  • If the daleks are out of Davouros's control why doesn't he just flick the switch on his chair like he did in the film ealryer. And btw whats the but red button for.??

  • Plot device

  • @GTAIVFan17 1.Davros let the daleks have their own personalty earlier in the film and 2.The button destroys all daleks

  • Comment removed

  • Because the Daleks had become fully self automated by then.

  • @GTAIVFan17 Red button is to blow up the whole place instead of the room they're all in.

  • @GTAIVFan17 Because at this stage the Daleks are completely autonomous

  • @GTAIVFan17 BBC production costs and the usual failing plot devices as with all Doctor Who works.

  • @GTAIVFan17 Because they were essentially remote controlled at that stage, with only basic functionality.

When it appeared they were capable of autonomy, and only upgrades needed to be done, the kill switch was no longer needed.

  • EXTERMINATE!

  • Classic ★★★★★

  • Somthing good coming from the evil of the Daleks. When the Doctor said this, my first thought was about when Rose absorbed the time vortex.

  • Bad skin and no legs, it was tough being davros

  • theory: the Dalek which exterminated Davros and went on talking bout his grand plan became the Surpreme Dalek in the later episodes of Dr.Who

  • @AlkaidHydra either that or it became the dalek emperor in evil of the daleks.

  • i!!! i!!!!!!! i!!!!!!!!!!

  • WOW! Elizabeth Sladen aged well! See her here and then in SJA or 'School Reunion', and well...rawr! >;3

    Yummy mummy!

  • @nosorab3 I wouldn't call her a Yummy, mummy but she's pushing 60 and she still looks great.

  • 611290, watch Destiny of the Daleks! Davros explains how he survived.

  • I get why the Daleks sounds like robots, but why does Davros?

  • because he is "injured" and needs machines to help him survive

  • The machine he sits in is his Life Support System.

  • @corruptgunslinger his voice got changed to make sure he could still speak when he was put in his chair..so wanted to sound like the daleks..or have the daleks sound like him

  • possibly the best part of Genesis of the Daleks. The Daleks turn on Davros. Apart from the Doctor, Davros is possibly the most Interesting Villain in the shows history, along with the Master. He is Evil as the Red Man himself, but he also has a conciemce, and he knows what he is doing is wrong. Also, Davros, is a God. He technicallly is. he created a Race, which not only turned on him, but have also used him. In a way, Davros has also regretted the creation of his Daleks......

  • @OwenDWF well he probably creating the renegade daleks but he then went on to create the imperial daleks. daleks with intuiton and initiative and also loyal to him.

  • @matt2house well the daleks in the clip are both imperail and renegade there were once one fraction but when davros came to power the rengade daleks abandon him

  • @Powersurge106 not quite because the imperial daleks were of different creatures all together. And the renegade daleks abandon davros because they didnt recognize davros as a true dalek, plus they were programmed by davros to look after themselves and to conquer in which they did do.

  • They STILL scare the crap out of me...I hid behind the cushion on the settee when I saw them first time in 1963. Thank you Terry...

  • How I envy you

  • @blagger56 I used to hide behind the couch...took me a few years to realize that if they chased me, all I had to do was run upstairs or even up one step & they wouldn't be able to follow me.

  • The planet Skaro uses the exact same detonator boxes as Earth!!

  • davros is the devil and darth vader

  • if davros could walk he would be darth sidious

  • I don't get how davros survived can someone tell me please?

  • Some sort of timey wimey thing, I'm sure.

  • @611290 Davros had a secondary life support system built into his chair to keep him alive. Also you cant keep a badass bad guy down ^.^ Hope this helps ^.^

  • ur own fault davros

  • not really i thought nyssa was.

  • All of this reminds me of that star trek episode "Space seed" where spock says "Because the scientists forgot one thing, superior ability breeds superior ambition."

  • Far more sinister than thousands of crappy CGI flying Daleks.

  • @doubledeckers Shall I get off your lawn, then?

  • Comment removed

  • @doubledeckers ... What the flying dogskin are you talking about? How does CG has anything to do with Daleks' intimidation?

  • Am I the only one who identifies with the Daleks?

  • no i do it to

  • She screamed "he's coming" before she even saw him. :-/

  • @shawbros she felt him in her loins

  • @shawbros mayb she heard him

  • long

  • live

  • The daleks didn't actually kill Davros.

His body was re-generated and kept in suspended animation by his life-support system. He then re-appeared in the story "Destiny of the daleks".

    He certainly is rather invicible/immortal!

  • Comment removed

  • cos the frist ever daleks

  • So the Dals is what the Thals called the Kaleds then?

  • i take it this episode was genesis of the daleks?

  • i dont mean kill i mean shoot him

  • did they really kill davros

  • Nope

  • Devros the wanker deserved to be exterminated.

  • I don't think he could, seeing how half of his body is missing

  • u gotta love the utter shittines of the daleks death ray lmfao XD

  • 0:56 lol

  • Davros was the one that engineered those shells. He also accelerated the mutations that turned the Daleks into those little squid-things.

  • How did Davros create the Daleks? I seem to remember that nuclear war detroyed Skaro. To survive the radiation fall-out, the Daleks (little black blobs of organic matter) developed those metal shells with weapons attached. Where does Davros come in?

  • a first translation of skaro records reveals that daleks were offspring of nuclear thal/dal conflict. as translation improved & more archaeological evidence was found, the historical picture became more accurate:- -there were only partial holocausts; -daleks were constructed during subsequent conflict of survivors. -the role of historical figure Davros (earlier mis-translations confused him and his people - 'dal' / 'kaled') became apparent.

"genesis" does compress the story-most likely allegory

  • He invented the metal shells.

His people were genetically degenerating into blobs due to mutagens released during the war, and only had a few generations left. He accelerated the mutations on some test subjects to find out how bad it was, and then made the dalek exoskeleton to house and keep them alive.

Unfortunately, he also genetically modified them into psychopathy and gave their supplemental computers an "exterminate" objective. Because he thought that would make them perfect.

  • Was Davros a skoll?

How about the mechanoids? Are they simply all machine or do they also have organic matter inside of them?

  • Davros was a scientist. He's deformed and wheelchair-bound because of injuries he sustained in the bombing of his home city as a boy.

The mechanoids contain live dalek organisms. The dalek resembles a green, squirming blob of flesh cannot survive without its carapace for more than a few minutes (they need the machines to eat, breath, expel waste, and think coherently).

  • No, no, no! The Mechanoids were another Dr. Who enemy. They were shaped like a terathedron, and hand hands that came out and sent powerful, killer electricity to the enemy. Their city was destroyed by Dr. Who, but ONE mechanoid survied and said 'I shall rebuild and avenge'.

But, since then, I have heard nothing more of them.

Was Davros a person from Skaro?

  • Ah, never seen the mechanoids.

Davros was from Skaro. He was head scientific director for the Kaled faction.

  • The Kaleds were the baddies, I think. What were the Blondes called?

  • The blondes were called Thalls. And they were also baddies, using slave labor and experimenting on civilians. There were no good guys in that war, just no one else as evil as Davros.

  • I thought the Thalls were goodies, both in he Hartnell TV series and the Cushing films.

    Hartnell was my favourite Doctor.

  • They became goodies later on. During Davros' time, they were as evil as the Kaleds.

  • The Zarbi really frightened me. I used to hide behind the armchair.

  • that's the trouble with weapons sometimes, make them too advanced and they become smart enough as to wander why they should obey commands lolXD epic episode love Dr.Who thanks for uploading^^

  • So did anything good ever come from the evil of the Daleks? Can't think of much currently.

  • Our early Saturday evening entertainment.

  • lesser minds would reply "daleks are imaginary"

    but,

    - countless worlds united forgetting petty differences when faced with the dalek threat.

    - many new technologies (such as the metals for the casings of war-rockets from the planet hyperion) were developped.

    - excercise friendly staircases remained a permanent feature of architecture, as a defensive measure

-more recently, covert Dalek plots advance science. Large Hadron Collider = Reality Bomb

  • It was good that they showed wher they came from i have this on dvd

  • they had to do something terry nations stories were just lacking ideas, I mean the story Death to the daleks a year b4 this story was just terrible

  • I agree. It was interesting to see the daleks without their guns but that only lasts for a short time, and in a way it was trying to be like power of the daleks

  • Ive got this on dvd and its kinda stupid to kill your master, dont you think?

  • But Davros isn't their master.

  • Genesis Of The Daleks

greatest episode of the classic series

  • greatest episode of doctor who ever!

  • A classic tragedy...........and plenty of technophobia...........new technology thats out of our control and dosent mean us well! Anyone who's lost the cursor off the side off the screen and couldnt get it back will know what Im talking about!

  • davros got owned by his chrildren

  • this is all-time favourite dalek episode!

death to the kaleds & daleks :P

    thals rule :P

  • oh come on he only does the right thing because his own miserable lifes in danger lol.

    SEEK LOCATE DO NOT DEVIATE!!!

  • Strange isn't it?

Davros tried to do right thing in the end.

  • What do you mean?

  • Well Davros is always made out to be a terrible villain but when given a bit of a shove he tried to do the right thing by trying to stop the dalek machines being built.

  • Not really he didn't want his ultimate creations which would give him the ultimate power to remove it from him. So he knew that the only way to control them would be to destroy them. It may seem he was doing good but his motives were for the wrong reasons.

  • Not really. Davros may have been many things. But one of those he can't be accused of is thinking of himself as evil. He loved his people and wanted them to win at all costs. The price turned out to be higher than he thought. Think about it. Do the CIA men who torture people in secret prisons in Eastern Europe consider themselves evil? Nope. Did American politicans consider themselves evil for America's first pre emptive war? Nope. It's all a matter of perspective.

  • which people are you talking about the Kaleds or the Daleks?

  • the only difficulty being, cybermen are camp actors in stupid silver suits, wheras daleks are actually real.

BBC knew for a fact that dalek-sympathisers would actually exterminate production staff if daleks were depicted as being unrealistically defeated by any other species, so they scripted "doomsday" appropriately.

  • Don't worry. The Mechanoids were even more powerful than the Daleks. They will destroy all Daleks and become masters of the Universe.

  • Daleks are supreme!!!

  • Thanks for posting, I love this episode. And this is the best Davros by far!
