She is beautiful. She's so lucky she started so young, and I'm so jealous you have open-minded parents. I'm now 17, I could never, nor still find the courage to tell them. The people I've told don't seem to understand... it's just this feeling of complete dysmorphophobia, and the fact your totaly in the wrong body. Everyone I see here that started early become so pretty. But now I'm largely built, have a prominent nose, very male in general; I hate it. It will drive me to near suicide again. :(
I'm feeling for the boy. There is a reason behind why the boy wants to be a girl. There always is a reason. Sometimes it can be past, early childchood, some trauma, it is in our unconscious mind. I do not like an idea of a gender change. And no, I do not have any religion. I just feel the nature created us the way we should be. I feel thios world goes sick. :( I try to explain to myself that there are so many genetic diseases out there, maybe this is just one of them. But it doesn't fit.
@shofunny no man, she's super beautiful and not a boy... there is more and more evidence that sometimes the brains just don't match the body. i like this film (:
Beautifully told and expressed! Having a young child who is also in the same situation, I love that all these young people are creating a path for the younger ones. Way to go!!

@KomediaSusan I didn´t.. I just realized that someone else did.. Anyway, thanks for posting this nice video.. I think it should be more promoted because i think it would make a lotta people change their minds.. Greetings from Costa Rica.
@Lemmiwinks96 Actually you are disgusting for referring to a person as "it". And, if you're an adult, for being turned on by a 13 year-old. BTW If you actually could understand what she says, you would've figured out that she has not transitioned yet, she is not even on hormones yet; so no "disgusting vagina" there. But when she does get one, I assure you it's not "disgusting" at all - you practically cannot tell the difference.
Anyway, such a beautiful film and such a beautiful girl...
@ai8erobamwn Thank you. I just removed the comment by Lemminwinks96... I think freedom of speech is very important, but the limit is reached when someone gets hurt deeply by someone else's words. That's not necessary and it won't help anyone any further. Lemmiwinks' comment was too disgusting.
Thanks for your comment! You are right, you won't tell the difference after surgery.
@Lemmiwinks96 I think the only disgusting thing here is you. there is no place for homophobes here. if you don't like what you see, no one forces you to marry her. Anyhow, just wanted to say how brave that girl is. she deserves all the best and happiness in her life. me and million others will make sure that she and every other transgender person is treated with dignity and respect.
@Lemmiwinks96 It (!!?) probably has no vagina as she hadn't transitioned yet at the time of filming. And you are disgusting for being attracted to a 13 year old, not for any other reason.
@ Meideiprod perhaps Lemmiwinks96 is 13 years old himself, 96, maybe he's born that year? By judging from his comments, he seems not older than 6 .. no, wait, even six year olds are more understanding and wiser than he seems.
I watched this film this Friday, October 28 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and would like to congratulate everyone involved in this production, the family of this fantastic girl and give my congratulations to her, beautiful, lovely, vibrant ... a beacon to illuminate many others who need help around the world.
i'm extremely thrilled and touched by this film. I hope to reach a day when everyone in the world can live well and is respected and protected by society and government, and where and how to protect themselves. Joppe is a beautiful girl, smart, determined, intelligent and a great banner of peace to teach a great lesson to the world of humanity. I really love to have a daughter like her. He is an example of the way to go and show us what direction our notions of respect for others should take.
I live in Ecuador and the public at the EDOC Festival was (we were) HAPPY!!! I love your doc.! Thanks for showing a beautiful point of view... and Joppe is a beautiful girl, and very brave!... kisses
As previously mentioned I really like the perspective is given through Joppe and no adults appeared in the movie. Very powerfulI and as @MatSim65 said: "hope it will change mentalities around the world!"
@gadb83 Thank you, that's so nice to hear! I would have loved being there at EDOC. How is the festival? How did the public respond to my film? Thank you in advance :-)
@KomediaSusan The theater was full that day, and people liked the film. I heard good comments about the film. What I liked the most, it's that the entire story is told from the point-of-view of Joppe. The fact that no adults appeared or gave a comment about the situation, for me it was very clever!
@KomediaSusa Thank you so much for posting a HQ version of the video!
As I said before, Joppe is an amazing girl, and she seems so wise and intelligent for her age, and she really deserves all the best life has to offer her. :)
Is it the legal system that is keeping her from doing hormone replacement therapy until she's 16? I personally hope she's able to start sooner for her own sake, so she doesn't have to feel like she's missing what her friends have.
