  • Thank you for sharing your views with us! I have often thought the same things you think about the article and videos by those people, you are much more eloquent then I could ever be, thanks again for sharing! I'm subscribing to your videos now. By the way, I love how you bond with your cat, I do the same things with mine!

  • You are wonderful, and very generous.

  • You are extremely articulate and wise. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

  • You are such an amazing and wonderful person, thanks for sharing your inner life and thoughts. You really make a difference!

  • About AutismSpeaks(tm): I saw their videos on the new youtube dot com slash nonprofit channel before seeing yours. Including the "Autism Everyday", the one you mention, with the mother who said, with her child in the same room, that she had considered killing her and herself. For crying aloud!

I've flagged it as "other terms of use violation" because there was no "child abuse" option. I should have chosen "hate speech".

  • i'm not gonna bullshit you, you gotta lose some weight. Not even for looks but for health. how active are you?

  • Probably about as active or inactive as I was at times when I was quite skinny. :-)

Weight loss is rarely a good goal to be primarily directed at. What is a good goal is a certain level of activity and eating in a healthy manner, where either is possible. (And often for other reasons one or the other is not.)

I've approved your comment but it's treading a line on the personal. You might have noticed I'm not approving your graphic sexual comments, that's for a reason.

  • I agree with you. I'm a part of the Aspies for Freedom forum online and although I think research should be done to better understand autism, the way that Autism Speaks and other programs are presenting autism is just making those who have it look like they don't exist.

  • the r-complex of the brain or reptilian brain often breaks the world into to opposite views...like a "coin". One can frame a situation as positive and not see the negative or as negative and miss the positive. This is often the unreality the world is painted with... democrat/republican... black/white... often the colors and hues of life are lost in this abstract polarization.

  • An inspiration- I've watched 3 of your videos; can't get enough. I think you should write a book. It is neat to get the inside- out view of life with autism. Keep writing, keep learning, keep opening eyes.

  • There are over a hundred books out there by autistic people (I have most of them, due to wanting to eventually make a catalog by subject area, although my brain's too scattered to actually DO that), I don't think I need to add to that. (If I ever write a book it wouldn't be a self-narrating zoo exhibit type of book, but there's plenty of people who don't mind doing that to various degrees and have written really good books).

  • Excellent! Keep up the good work, silentmiaow!!

  • You are so articulate! And your bring such a wise, mature, and strong voice to the world regarding autism!

Please write a book and educate the world about autism. You have so much to share and we have so much to learn!

  • well u have certainly opened my eyes. i think ur fantastic.

    Dom from Essex.

  • i'm in tears! i agree on sooooo many levels. i wish more people would speak up like this young lady. more power to you sweetheart. my son and i think you are wonderful and we love you!

  • It just goes to show you how far Autism Speaks will go in order to dehumanise us. They make unpersons of those they consider low-functioning, then they have the hide to claim that high-functioning individuals such as myself do not suffer when it is thanks to ignorance *exactly* like theirs that I have interrupted sleep due to nightmares for weeks at a time. Autism Speaks could do us all a great favour with their silence.

  • Thanks so much for making this video, it's been hard for a high-functioning Aspie like me to get people to understand that high-functioning Autistics aren't the only ones that don't like to be looked down on as inferior second class humans who need to be "cured".

  • silentmiaow is an apparent contradiction to the "High-functioning/Low-functioning" autistic labels in the autism spectrum.

To look at her and NOT read her words, she would appear to be "Low-functioning" autistic because of the lack of oral language skills.

To NOT look at her and read her words, she would appear to be "High-functioning" autistic because of the excellent written language skills.

She has good reason to disagree with the functioning labels.

  • thanks for informing me and others who didnt understand:)

  • you are amazing. I have three autistic siblings, and I find it very offensive when people say they need to be "cured". Again, you are amazing.

  • You are awesome. I wish everyone would hear your message.

  • You are AWESOME. I work with autistic people every day and you've given me a completely new outlook. Thank you. And I've subscribed.

  • I'm an Aspie with a fixation on cats... and I think yours is beautiful.

I think you communicate with your cat the same way another cat would... I do that, because it's silly to use people-talk with cats. Is that deliberate or just the way it happened?

  • maybe its possible to put a black band behind the text...agian thanks for this. great great content.

  • Great video. Thanks for sharing. I am curious, where did you attend school? You have excellent written communication skills, and I'm just wondering what type of education you received as a child. Please excuse my ignorance.

  • Went to various mainstream schools and then institution schools and special ed. Learned to read and write (and most other things), however, on my own time.

  • I think it is unfair that non-verbal autistics such as yourself are ignored by these people. Many non-autistics feel the need to speak for you and to toy about with you as if you are inferior to them. Many of these people have tried to make it out that there is a waging war between the aspies and autistics- there isn't. Well, that's Autism Speaks propaganda for you, I guess.

  • Can you please tell me how you are captioning the files? The really look great. BTW, your courage is very inspiring. Thank you for sharing your talent with the world. You really should write a book on your experiences, if you haven't done so already.

  • I'm glad I found a captioning program. Especially, in working on my next video I've found an obnoxious dilemma: In the small amount of daylight, I'm either busy, or there's construction work outside. And in the night there's poor lighting. So half my next video (or at least the next one I'm making, maybe not the next I'll publish) is poorly lit and the other half will really need the captioning to be able to distinguish the words over all the drilling and hammering and stuff.

  • The captioning is really great. The video is really great, anyway, but the captioning helps clarify what you are saying.

  • wow ... you are a true asset to the autistic community. i have spent many nights staying up way to late pouring over your blogs and articles. everything i have read has been eloquent , emotive and awe-inspiring. i will encourage my autistic daughter to look to you as both a role-model and advocate. thank you for everything you have contributed to my growing knowlege about autistic perspective.

keep doing these videos ..it adds yet another dimension to your brillance.

  • i would have to argue that you are a true asset to the world community - it is just as important to understand as to be understood, and you are doing a remarkable job.
