  • Boys ain't got soul like this. It's alright, we gon' bring this back with a twist of the new.

  • I first heard this song when I saw Pretty in Pink

  • Love it

  • I get goosebumps at 1:57

  • came here from otis: jay z and kanye.

  • This song never gets old....always reminds me of Duckie from Pretty in Pink getting downnnn on the stairs in the record store. Goooood times.

  • All I could think about was Kanye West and Jay Z at 1:57

  • @ZOMOFG that's a shame because this was around before those two coons screwed with it

  • First time I head this was when it was sampled on Young Black Teenagers' "Tap The Bottle"

  • It does not get better than this.

  • i like how the song starts shit got to much soul

  • I never listened to a lot of Otis Redding, but thanks to Kanye West & Jay-Z I now know about this amazing song. They did not ruin it. They paid homage. It is a great song and so is this. Stop The Hate, Enjoy The Music.

  • A danish rap group have made a beat with samples from this song in 2007. Jay-Z and Kanye are hustlers ;)

I you want to hear the song its called Det Ikk' Vores with Suspekt.

  • its sad that jayz and kanye ruined this.

  • why does the chris brown version to this song have more views?

  • This is the song I heard when I was still in my dad's ballsack.

  • love making music....

  • 2:58 You're welcome! Thumb up if you know what I mean!

  • Jay-z & Kanye should of left this song alone. Otis is the king and nobody should of miss-up his song.

  • @j3nny44 It's called a sample. Pretty honorable.

  • :O

  • 7 people hit "dislike" by mistake...

  • Even in death, Otis Redding's talent succeeds all others. Congrats to Jay-z and Kanye West on their Grammy win and for showing great honor in doing justice to an Otis Redding sample. :)

  • @thepallbearer amen

  • If only more men took this advice OH how there would be so many less problems in this world! Tenderness = Compassion, helping your love when she is in NEED!!!

  • @RecessionRecipes-------AMEN!

  • What's amazing is that he was in his 20's when he made this.

  • @abr0414 Steve Strong (I think that was his name. Guy from the Commitments) was 17 when he recorded his version in the film!!!!

  • i masterbate to this song.

  • The seven people who disliked this are too busy listening to damn Kesha to know real music.

  • @CVTom Hey: I like Kesha. I like my women a little on the trashy side. to each his own!

  • Love him and this is my favorite song by him..Otis was the man!

  • I look in the sidebar and Chris Brown has more views covering this. It's so fucked up I don't even know what to say.

  • Can`t nobody do dis like OTIS...........

  • anyone else discover this song after watching shrek?

  • Thanks for the memories! My old band played this in '68. I had a ball. Other songs on our list were "Fire" by Hendrix, and even "Mustang Sally". I just wish we had a recorder then!

  • SOUNDS SO SOULFUL DONTCHU AGREE?!

  • love the jay z and kayne watch the throne of course but i've been listening to otis for a long time, he is truly iconic and how totally cool that jay z and kayne can turn a whole new generation on to this music! don't just stop with this song, check all of his legendary tunes, brilliance!

  • i'm 18 and i go fucking crazy to that shit... i guess i have to fuck my girlfriend to this to show her some tenderness... SWAG

  • thumbs up if you watched this after watching donkey sing it on shrek

  • i keep hitting the button on 3:25....DAMN YOU KANYE WEST!

  • looooveeeeee this :) pure soul

  • STRAIGHT SOUL.

  • @sol1taryprod ROFL

  • Comment removed

  • @thedoomboy13 i'm sure he was being sarcastic

  • @sol1taryprod I'm a very big fan of Kanye West but he sampled Otis Redding. Otis sang this song even before Kanye was born!

  • @thedoomboy13 , i know i was jk. just trying to piss people off lol

  • Great song!!!! R.I.P. Mr. Otis Redding!

  • Anyone else see a cat being eaten by a guy in the thumbnail?

Thumbs up if you do. :D

  • you dont understand the hiphop so you really cant judge...

i like this song but i also like kanyes thang caus its 21century

  • I love this song i swear i do

  • I invented Swag !

  • @kackod101

    fuck off and die

  • People dont get mad this is a great song and I knew about it b/c my parents kept the radio on classic R&B during long road trips. Hip Hop has been sampling since 1975 when DJ Kool Herc decided to use two copies of give it up and turn it loose by James Brown to create a longer break beat thus break dancing. Hip Hop! (Please dont lecture me with all the detail of the history of Hip Hop I get it I am trying to prove a point that ppl need to stop hating sampling).

  • fantastic, even better than me lol

  • @potdog1000 lol !!!

  • Damn, this song is sexy...

  • Somewhere 7 people are "sitting on the dock of the bay" with their thumb stuck up their asses!

  • 2:00

  • I like this better than the jay-z and kanye one

  • This is a good sexy time song.

  • im glad this song burst back into popularity from kanye and jay z

  • proper

  • 3:25 is pure, unadulterated passion. its clear why kanye sampled those 3 seconds

  • Comment removed

  • Sounds so soulful don't you agree?

  • Cracked!

  • @serialclone

I was wondering how this jumped 30,000 views in a day

  • @revluzionnotelevised A link from the Jay-z version :D

  • 2:43 ; )

  • Really an amazing song. No school like the old school.

  • Thanks to Otis Redding and everyone listening to this song. I appreciate that so many people listen to Otis Redding and get joy from his music, no matter how they found out about it & I'm glad so many people love and respect the classic and legendary Otis Redding songs, specifically this magnificent one. Thanks for listening and commenting, and request a song you would like be the post.

OTIS REDDING FOREVER, what a legend.

    Peace

  • its sad how typing otis into you tube search it puts Jay z before otis redding

  • @IIFiReFlyz real talk

  • 2:00

  • thumbs up if you knew this song before kanye and Jay Z bit it.

  • i heard this song BEFORE otis! :P

  • No one can sing this song like Otis! But Chris Brown did one hell of a good job singing it! i really like both versions! :D

  • Jay-Z Is one of my favorite singers but he made shit of this song, no kidding.

  • nothin ever beats the original!!!

  • @Launchballer thumbs up for the J and Kanye comment althought I don't know what whitespace is but it sounds like a hot topic in todays sociopolitical climate (This means it sounds racist yall) (joke)

  • Not funny. After the song, there's a tremendous amount of "empty space" at the end where nothing's audible which is called whitespace. It's a conjectural term, which means I can't think of one so I made one up - if you can think of a better term I'll be obliged.

  • People need to stop being so fucking ignorant. Obviously the original song holds more creativity and soul than the sample by Jay-Z and Kanye, but if you're going to consider yourself cultured enough to criticize what they did you clearly have a narrow minded approach to music. It's called sampling and it's about reinventing a groove to create interesting rhythms and phrases. The only person who has done this song a disservice is that woman bashing, piss weak hack Chris Brown.

  • You know what? Jay Z and Kanye didnt do a bad thing... they did everybody watching this a great service by introducing this beautiful soul music to hip hop fans worldwide

  • Far too much whitespace on the end, but I have to admit what Jay-Z and Kanye West did to the song is worthy of a lawsuit.

  • @Launchballer

sorry that happened when I uploaded it

  • @Launchballer they gave him credit on the cd its featuring otis im sure his family got money

  • That's not what I meant. I meant "Otis is so painful to listen to, the Redding estate should've sued Jay-Z and Kanye West".

  • @Launchballer What are you talking about? Jay-Z and Kanye West made a great song from sampling Redding.

  • They ruined it, they reduced it from a beautiful piece of soul heaven into a few high-pitched squeals and a load of scat. If you have nothing decent to say, scram and don't say anything.

  • Comment removed

  • You're the one hating...

  • @Launchballer otis redding stole this song from someone else. you want proof message me ;)

  • Yes, and unlike Carter and West made something pleasant out of it. The original version was sung by the Ray Noble Orchestra.

  • @leepipesateneo want a proof plz ...

  • @louifnfs search "ray noble orchestra try a little tenderness" on the youtube search bar, song was made in 1932.

bing crosby and ruth etting then did their own version of this song in 1933.

when otis redding heard the 1933 version by crosby and etting, he made his 1966 version of it and the rest they say is history.

is this enough proof for you?

  • @Launchballer without kanye and jay z, the exposure to this song would be a lot less. sure nothing beats the original, but you have to give credit where credit is due. instead of hating, be happy for the number people who love this song because of the popularity of "otis". try to walk in kanye's shoes, all he wanted to do is pay tribute to these great artists that no longer get exposure and it's cynics like you who hate him for it. stop the hate, appreciate. peace.

  • @leepipesateneo i agree whit what you said, although i cant stand Kanye West or the track "Otis", i think i coulda done alot better than he did with this track !!!

  • @TheUncleBungle you know what they say, you can't please everybody. the only thing that can be kept constant is that you enjoyed what you made and hope that people enjoy what you made as well. who knows, maybe when you have the time or effort you could try to remake this track and pay proper respect to it in the way you think it deserves.

  • @leepipesateneo see, thing is, it cant be done anytime soon, due to "Otis" being out there, i would love to do it, and one day i probably will, but i'm no beat biter, and i'm certainly not gonna bite Kanye West :/ dont get it me wrong, i like the beat for Otis, but its just sections of this, i also think what they talked about was too outdated and a little insulting, considering the current economical climate of the world !! :/

  • @leepipesateneo but i honestley do appreciate that you seem to nder estimate my production skills, it makes me smile :)

  • @TheUncleBungle wasn't my intention, haha. but if you could do it, prove me wrong. actions speak louder than words. send me a link when you finish. no matter how the song turns out, my respect for you will multiply x10 just for the effort :D

  • @leepipesateneo Also pretty in pink

  • @Launchballer omggggg u r soooo rite

  • such disrespect by Jay Z and Kanye

  • Thank you Kanye

  • CHRIS BROWN YOU CAN'T BEAT OTIS POWERFUL VOICE

  • Otis put WAY more soul and energy into this song than Chris Brown did...

  • @OldTunes20....Your opinion....I'm not judging Chirs on what he's done (God's job not mine), I'm listening to the music, melody, and their differences...As I said Otis is definitely the classic....

  • I'm in my early 20s, and I swear I shouldn't have been born in the 80s. I remember hearing this song on Amen, and seeing Hope Clarke dancing to it. Renewed my love for Otis. I love the oldies. This is music that spoke to you. Sangggg Otis. Try a little tenderness. I love Jay and Ye, but this is one you shouldn't touch. Much respect b/c they brought Otis to the forefront once again. He's gone but never forgotten.

  • @Vining212 your like, so deep man, your 18, and like THIS music?? good on you bro, can you like, give me lessons on music or something? i feel i could learn from you :)

  • Chris Brown came close, but this is a classic....

  • @Harlemgurl106 Otis respected women beyond the standards of 99% of men today, Chris Brown didn't come close to a damn thing Otis did. Voice is one thing, but Otis had soul behind his, which is a whole lot more than Chris Brown's woman-abusing ass could ever say for himself.

  • @OldTunes20 Preach! Chris Brown is a punk bitch in the gutter, as is any "man" who lays his hands on a woman and Otis Redding is a legend standing on Olympus. Chris Brown couldn't dream of touching his ass with his whack track.

  • @HisDivineShadow245

    hell yesss

    damn right

  • @OldTunes20

    hell yesss

  • thumbs up if you knew of this before Kanye west and Jayz destroyed this classic Otis Redding.... I am 18 and think this.....

  • watch the throne version fucking sucks

  • @THEBODMONPULLUP

really why do u say that?? I actually like both versions..

  • thumbs up if this gives you chills

  • i keep expecting the beat to drop

  • Thumbs up if you hate Kanye and Jay Z for this?

  • thumbs up if your under 25 and came to hear this song

  • @MsBahamasbaby im 13

  • @joshyboy210 yea lol what u know bout this youngster

  • @MsBahamasbaby

    yeaaahhh

    thumbs up

  • @MsBahamasbaby haha I searched songs to make love to this was recommended... along with salt n pepa - push it hahahaha! definitely worth a try

  • classic

  • best part at 2:44

  • they don't make em like this anymore.

  • You can say what you want about Yeezy and Hov. They turned two seconds of four minutes and forty-four seconds into millions. You can't coach that!

  • Now THIS is the shit. I love Jay Z, but him and Kanye West spit in Otis Redding Face when they used this song. Blasphemy man, absolute blasphemy. This loveliness had nothin to do with the sell-out lyrics Kanye west added in.

  • just beautiful

  • Otis Rest In Peace, you were one of the greatest musicians, love your music!! Ever since I was in diapers, my mom and pop used to jam Motown all the time, with some Otis mixed in at the proper moments...LOVE IT!!!

  • @2:49 "I invented swag!"

  • 5 ppl didnt get a little tenderness

  • thumbs up if you heard otis and came here

  • @agubokwu fuck otis!!!!! I heard Otis and He brought me here. Dumbass

  • @agubokwu Shiittt, I heard it & was like uhhmm... can I get this song without jay-Z & kayne..? (;

  • Nice photo jajaja

  • kanye and jay z murdered this beat! love otis and the remake by ye

  • No one cares if you don't like how Jay Z and Kanye sampled this. Just enjoy the damn song.

  • amazing song ever

  • See all those strange names in the vids to the right, like Sam Cooke, Al Green, Bill Withers, Wilson Pickett, Junior Walker and the All Stars?

Get familiar with these artists if you really want to feel something. You'll be glad you did :)

  • loved jayz and kanye mixing ole school wit new school in the manner in which they did. fantastic job. yvetteweisrock@yahoo.com

  • kanye and jayz butchered this classic.... I cant even fanthom of wanting to sample and ruin this, Otis would be dissapointed.

  • @grifterspec They took a small part of this song and something completely new out of it ... regardless of this one being better to you the two songs are so different you cant compare them ... that little drum and vocal breakdown made a hit 50 years later ... OTIS REDDING WOULD BE EXTATIC!

  • @grifterspec You do realise that He didn't write this song, he covered this song.

I love this version, cuz my mother raised me on this, and I recently heard otis

So don't come here on your high horse bs about people butchering songs

  • This was always a great song, but Ye and Hov made this shit sick!

  • 5 people tried a little roughness instead of tenderness :]

  • auto tune it makes easyer yoOOoonn 1:59

  • can't put much more feeling into this...

  • knew this song from a movie called pretty in pink

  • this is a precious song. & no, kayne & jay-z didnt ruin anything! their song was how i found out about otis r., and i LOVE otis now! im 18 and never heard of him until kayne and jay-z rapped otis. so be grateful, a younger generation will now be finding out about otis. <3

  • @caruhboo112 - Umm, the fact that you JUST found out who Otis Redding is (lmao) negates your statement as to whether or not Hov and Kanye ruined this song for people. Shhhhh...

  • Comment removed

  • Otis did invent swag. He was poppin bottles and puttin super models in the cab before anyone else.

  • @YoungJonesy7 i think that only happened once every other friday, when we was allowed off the plantation

  • left the world too soon :(
