  • Too bad this guy never became Doc Savage in a TV series pilot like he was supposed to...

  • Actually, this show was inspired by the movie, "Springfield Rifle" , starring Gary Cooper, about an Army officer in the Civil War who was supposedly court - martialed for cowardice , but was in fact an agent for the Army.

  • not a fucking light weight!!! hahaha

  • 156 episodes dude

  • Know what's really interesting? What served as an introduction to a TV series back in the day, now almost stands alone as a YouTube video of just the perfect length, storyline, and production values.

  • I hated this show when I was a child, but I would love to see it again now.

  • Arthur Digby Sellers wrote bulk of the series.

  • All but one man died, There at Bitter Creek, And they say he ran away ... Branded! Marked with a coward's shame. What do you do when you're branded, Will you fight for your name? He was innocent, Not a charge was true, But the world will never know ... Branded! Scorned as the one who ran. What do you do when you're branded, And you know you're a man? And wherever you go for the rest of your life You must prove ... You're a man!
  • listen from 0:29 for total effect!

  • dude, you ever see that show Branded?

  • great, best intro ever !!! LES

  • Wonderful. The perfect intro.

  • How would Mel Brooks (Blazing Saddles) shoot this scene?

  • He should have stayed in North Fork where they liked him better.

  • samk1101 The theme music was by Dominic Frontiere, and the lyricist was Alan Alch. Frontiere also composed the theme for "The Outer Limits" and "The Invaders," among others...

  • thumbs up if The Big Lebowski brought you here!!!!!

  • Who is the singer?

  • Al Bundy got Branded because of Bubba Smith (- rest in piece, Bubba).

  • Branded, especially the early episodes, was truly a source of inspiration.

  • CHUCK CONNORS, was the man.."BRANDED" and "THE RIFLEMAN" 2 favorite shows..CONNORS, for awhile was a major league ball player with the CHICAGO CUBS

  • @801liveable when I play Red Dead redemption I always use the winchester repeater and pretend I am the rifleman.

  • @thewhistler what else do you "pretend" you are?

  • @801liveable sometimes I pretend I am a troll hunter.

  • @thewhistler: Wouldn't it be amazing if the same software company got the licence from CBS Studios to make a video game similar to Red Dead Redemption, but based on Branded and The Rifleman?

  • Loved the show. Brings back childhood

  • I wouldn't mess with that officer, he broke a sword over his knee!

  • stranded. stranded on a toilet bowl. What do you do when you're stranded and you don't have a roll?

  • @glimmer2158 LOL I'd love to know how these ditties traveled from school yard to school yard pre-internet. But they did!

  • @glimmer2158 That joke really got around back then.lol .... wherever you go for the rest of your life, you must prove you're a man- ....gotta use your hand.

  • One of the best TV westerns by far

  • I wouldn't want to go into battle with a sword like that.

  • Who the fuck is Arthur Digby Sellers?

  • The best of the western intros in my opinion. Though it was hard not seeing Chuck with his famous Winchester. It took a while for me to get used to Branded.

  • Do you have the episode with the phony witness who claimed to have witnessed what happened at Bitter Creek?

  • I always like this show. I remeber mom making me some dinner I could watch by the TV and enjoy this show on Sunday evenings.

  • Epic intro.

  • @panosgatto They're gonna cut your dick off Larry.

  • And they say he ran awaaaay... BRANDED. Dude (L)

  • Arthur Digby Sellers wrote one hundred and fifty six episodes; the bulk of the series. Not exactly a lightweight. ...And yet, his son is a fucking dunce.

  • @intrepgun Shut the fuck up Donnie. HAHAHA ;)

  • Them kick him out

  • @popoff21 why did they kick him out? because he didn't die like the other men who went off to the battle of bitter creek during the imperialist conquest and genocide of the nations of original peoples of north america.

  • @intrepgun oh ok thanks

  • @intrepgun: Well, it was more because his commanding officer went nuts during the climatic battle, and he tried to stop him, only to survive and be arrested for desertion under fire or cowardice. But yeah, that could be a factor, too.

  • I used stay up late watchin this when I was 5, this was good they really did him dirty wat he do to make the

  • Thumbs up if Married with Children brough you here

  • Chuck Connors was a Bad-ass Mo' Fo'. Not like the Girlie Men "actors" on today.

  • Chuck Conners was a Bad-ass Mo' Fo'. Not like the Girlie Men "actors" on today.

  • That sword must have been exceptionally low quality

  • I just want to say, sir, that we're both enormous--on a personal level, Branded, especially the early episodes, has been a source of, uh, inspir---

  • EXCELLENT UPLOAD!!! i watched this and thoroughly enjoyed it. when i told someone about it recently they looked at me like i was spaced out.

they will never know what they missed.

    thanks for sharing it.

  • Stranded! Stranded on a toilet bowl! What do you do when your stranded! And you don't have a roll? To prove your a man, you must wipe with your hand . . . . when you don't have a roll . . . Stranded!

  • I usually think responding to the "one dislike" situation is a mute point... however, the one who disliked this probably looked in the mirror and realized it was them, got all butt hurt and offended, and then hit the dislike button. They probably even went as far afterwards to cut their wrists, which in my opinion is just fine with me. F'in cowards...

  • Branded was the adventures of Jason McCord. Accused of cowardice at Bitter Creek, he travelled the West to prove his innocence. He met many interesting people, like General George Armstrong Custer, and Ulyses S. Grant. All this and the music made it more compelling that Rifelman, his first series. I enjoyed it very much.

  • Not exactly a lightweight.

  • This aggression will not stand...man.

  • This guy looks like race bannon...

  • Love the fact he rips one button off then gets tired and easily unbuttons the rest

  • Have you ever heard of Vietnam, Larry?

  • I know it's been said, but man that sword is easy to break. I love this intro!

  • Chuck Connors was the Man!

  • You're killing your father Larry

  • @panosgatto I just want to say, sir, that we're both enormous....on a personal level, Branded, especially the early episodes, has been a source of, uh, inspiration!

  • @panosgatto ohhh man i laughed sooo fuckin hard when i read your commment!!!!!!!!!

  • A good idea for movie or mini-series remake!

  • the bulk of the series... not exactly a lightweight..

  • DO YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS

  • DO YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS

  • Is this your homework Larry?

  • great show loved this as a kid in the 60s

  • That sword did break rather easily.

  • You treat objects like women, man!

  • And yet his son is a fucking dunce

  • Who the fuck is Arthur Digby Sellers?

  • Pilar?

  • @jab4374 Oh, I didn't want to give the impression we were police officers, exactly...

  • STAY OUT OF MALIBU LEBOWSKI

  • tv shows suck today. the 60's and 70's were better.

  • Lo que se merecen los traidores....jC y Gonzalo

  • Why couldn't he tell anyone the truth?

  • @MrLogoman007 He had such regard for his commanding officer he would rather take the blame than cause embarrasement to his commander!

  • Givem hell rifleman!!!

  • At last, I couldn't think what the show was called, but I remember the opening sequence! Thanks for posting.

  • Wow, I remember this theme so well. Have not seen intro title graphics in 43 years. Loved Chuck, he WAS a main Man! Thanks for posting some history. Appreciated.

  • Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarsh... :^(

  • that coat must have been made in china....i want to see a sword break that easily i know i know, its tv but still...who the hell was directing ???

  • I want to know how in the hell did everyone know he was "the coward" everywhere he went.

  • internet

  • @mindeloman Because he'd been branded.

  • Man, shows today will never have great opening credit sequences like this. No way in HELL would a network allow that and miss out on 90 seconds of more commercials.

  • R.I.P Chuck Connors

  • i like how many achievers' comments i see on here. it's the reason i'm looking it up.

    "little prick's stonewallin' me."

  • appropriate

  • buena serie..aquellos tiempos,

  • MY BROTHER AND I HAVE HOME MOVIES WHERE WE RE-ENACTED THIS SCENE WHEN WE WERE KIDS! EVERYBODY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD WANTED TO BE JASON McCORD!

  • From the original "Bloopers" LP by Kermit Schaefer:

    T.V Announcer: "...Branded!...starring Chuck Conners...upchucking Sundays...up...upcoming Sundays!!"

    used to laugh everytime

  • One of my favorite shows when I was a child. I used to feel so bad for him, to see his stripes and buttons torn from his uniform shirt, and then having is sword broken and thrown out the gate. He knew he was innocent but they didn't at the time. I would sure like to the episodes on You Tube in their entirety.

  • Arthur Digby Sellers for the win!

  • Does he still write?

  • @jdub3028 oooooohhhhhh noooo.... he has health problems

  • @jdub3028 No, he has health problems.

  • A terrible thing to experience...

  • 1:00

Keep your ugly fuckin' goldbrickin' ass out of my fort community

  • @rjs9 the same guy plays the chief of police ans the star in this

  • @rjs9 Oh, I'm sorry, I wasn't listening

  • I have great memories of Chuck Connors as Lucas McCain and also as the role he played on "Branded", He switched from ABC to NBC. Gone too soon. Miss you,

  • Great paradoy of this opening in an episode of Married with Children

  • Stranded, stranded on the toilet bowl! What do you do when your stranded...and you don't have a roll! LOL!

  • @louthebody To prove you're a man you have to wipe it with your hand.............

  • @louthebody I'm glad somebody remembers this alternative lyric besides me!

  • @louthebody-You have to sit a spell!!!

  • Odd thing.... showing off yankees in "Living color" just showed them off as being even moreso silly carpetbagging yankees.

I cant remember the last time I watched network TV. I just dont give a rat's rear end about dainty men finding other dainty men. White trash women on TV...Oh well.

  • Oh no no, he has health problems.

  • what , there was a color version of this show , wow geez .. i watched it with my b-w tv set there . although the rifleman should be in color in the 60s there but wasnt because of money from 4 star ..

  • I THINK THERE'S A LITTLE JASON McCORD IN ALL OF US!

  • Always liked this show more than the Rifleman

  • Those are good burgers Walter.

  • bulk of the series.

  • stranded, stuck on the toilet bowl, what do you do when you're stranded, and you can't find a roll?

  • Chuck Connors was the best among former athletes who turned to acting. He was a natural at it.

  • my life... my f--ing life..

  • He ran away. I was there.

  • If only little Larry Sellers had followed in his fathers foot steps, instead of becoming a !#$%ing dunce...Long live Arthur Diggbe Sellers!!!!!

  • @WhollyGod WERE GONNA CUT YOUR DICK OFF LARRY

  • No wonder he ran away, that crappy sword wouldn't have lasted 5 seconds in a fight.

  • reminds me of Ravenous a bit. Somebody should make a fan vid. Maybe I should? Hmmmm

  • Spoofed beautifully by Seinfeld when Newman ripped off his tag from his own postal jacket!

  • So that's pack in a gun and shooting everything that does not agree with you

  • STRANDED, Stranded on the toilet bowl

what do you do when your stranded

and you can't find the roll.

To prove your a man you must wipe it with your hand

STRANDED, Stranded on the toilet bowl

what do you do when your Stranded, and you can't find the roll

  • hahaha great improvisation! :D

  • Great intro!

  • I loved all the westerns from the 50s and 60s they had an underlying message of being honorable courages and having INTEGRITY something that most people today have no clue of. Those were good days of tv. My family would get together at our house of my Great Uncles and there would be 30 of us to eat dinner and watch the westerns. Good times back then. Chuck Conners was always my favorite!

  • Sorta the way NBC treated Conan, who looks alot like Chuck..btw.

  • And a good day to you sir!!

  • He wrote the bulk of the series, and yet his son is a dunce!

  • @Minnexyz yeah, not exactly a leightweight.

  • We played out this scenario when a chap left our firm. I snapped a pencil over my knee and showed him the door. Mind you, beyond the door was a pub where we all piled in and forgave him.

  • Im "not exactly a lightweight" but i never realized this was a real show.

  • You spend too much time near the "in and out" burger....

  • Isn't it interesting how these theme songs take us back. I al so remember watching a ot of these programs with or in the company of my parents. They are both gone now and it is Christmas Eve. There are times when I wish that I could go back to some of those days...though really, I don't know what I could have done differently....

  • Any sword that could be so easily broken would never have been issued for combat. Other point---Chuck Connors alias The Rifleman alias Lucas McCain alias Jason McCord, who guest starred on "The Six Million Dollar Man," of ALL humans who EVER lived---had the best developed SEPTUM of anyone!! That's the 2 parellel vertical lines between nose and upper lip. Such matters are of little real interest to me, just a passing observation. But if it has to do with rifles, see Lucas McCain.

  • Identical to the black and white version. I wonder if it was originally shot in color and the color removed in the first season or something.

  • First 16 episodes were made in black and white. This must be the opening of one of the colour episodes.

  • Man in the black pajamas. Worthy adversary.

  • One of the signature TV themes of my childhood. I always loved watching this scene.

  • And a good day to you sir.

  • Walter: Does he still write?

Pilar: Oh no no, he has health problems.

  • Wow, brings back a few memories. I used to sit and watch this with my Dad.

    Happy times................

  • A Mark Goodson Bill Todman Production!!

  • The hollywood boys show make a big budget summer block buster of this show....& they should cast John Cena from the movise "The Marine" to be in the staring role........

  • @rick55552003 Good call and casting choice. I'd go watch it.

  • Oh lord, I remember the theme song! lol

  • what a brilliant intro!!!!

  • On a personal note Branded, especially the early episodes, was truly a source of inspiration.

  • Did you ever meet a stranger in the Alps?

  • Tis a shame Connors didn't get as good a reception as he did from his previous starring western series, The Rifleman.

  • the bulk of the series...

  • Well at least the General didn't pull the buttons off his trousers as well....Left him some dignity...Ha Ha...

  • ah, I thought this was in color! I was too young to remember much except I wondered why they were destroying his uniform and sword (I misheard the title as "Brandon" as the character's name and thought he changed it to hide his shame)

  • As corny as Iowa by today's standards, but nothing on current TV matches up to it.

  • And a good day to you sir!

  • how strong are those sabres?

  • a well made sword of any kind, let alone a sabre you shouldn't be able to break it like that

  • they really broke people's swords during these ceremonies. I've seen guys break baseball bats over their legs (though those are made of wood). I've never tried, but if it doesn't work the way shown here, you would break it by pressing your foot down on the weakest part.

  • One of the great openings in TV history. As a 9 year old I watched westerns at the movies and home. Man, it wasn't unusual to see 20 guys get killed in 30 minutes!

Back before Oprah you could watch guys like Mcord, Marshall Dillon, The Cartwrights, and Lucas McCain confront bad and evil and instead of trying to reason with them you took em out with the rest of trash.

Anyway, thats what I learned watching tv back in the 60s. LOL

  • it was a great series. but the opening is a work of art.

  • I seem to remember Jason doing a secert mission for the President I believe Grant it was and he succedded and his name was cleared, but the true remained hidden. I have to watch the series again. I used to use the opening theme when i was in nursing school whenever someone flunked out we would strip them of their nametag and school patch, and break their pen and send them on their way. It was a get incentive not to fail, lol ESP having to do the walk of shame out the building
