  • I have both guitars. I honestly like my epiphone better, but that may obly be cause its a vintage

  • between these 2 Specific guitars. anybody should go with the explorer. even though its an epiphone, its made with better quality components than the jackson. dont let anybody tell you other wise. the jackson is a student model with cheap pickups. the explorer is a mahogany body and neck plus the pickups are seymour duncan alnico pickups. sure it cost a little bit more but its worth it...

  • fucken digital math metal crap

  • 2 best guitars for that price...they look like some fucking good girl....

  • dont get annything epiphone or gibson theyre totally overrated my friend has a 2500 dollar les paul that sounds worse than my 300 dollar guitar

  • I'd say save your money and buy a bit higher end Jackson. Great guitars

  • song*

  • sonf?

  • epiphone

  • I have a js30ke, and from what ive read, the only difference between it and the js32t is the inlays (please correct me if im wrong). Personally I love my kelly. The neck on the thing is great, and it seems to stay in tune well for not having a locking nut.

  • @thecharvelshredder have th js32t kelly, it's awesome! will put in some dimarzios or duncans, the guitar is worth it. btw, of course you dont have a locking nut! locking nuts are only on tremolo equipped guitars ( not on vintage trems, i think of kahler and floyd rose)

  • i think jackson is so much better for metal !!!

i have Jackson JS32T Kelly and one of my friends have the epiphone explorer, m guitar is perfect and i love it. mine sounds really better than my friends guitar

  • @8mahan8 yup, the pickups have way more output than the ones on the epi. and the jackson has

    1 24 frets

    2 the jackson neck

    3 SHARKFINS!!!!!!!!! YEEEEHAAAAAA!

  • I have asked myself the same thing but i picked the epiphone 1958 explorer and nice to see another bullet fan

  • @metalhead9167 yeah bfmv is a good band. there music is fun and easy to play.

  • well you say you like metal and like tuning to drop c i would go with the Jackson because it has a heaver tone and also for the pick-ups get emg they don't give off feedback and have an awesome heavy ton

  • ^_^ i don't care what anyone says epiphone's can make good guitars but ^_^ i personally would go for jackson ^_^

  • Listen man, get the Epiphone. I have a $2,000 ESP that I used for years, and I bought the Epiphone when i was in your position. I now prefer the Epiphone to my ESP. It sounds, looks, and feels fantastic. The only thing I don't like about it is the brand name.

  • and the neck feels very comfortable for me. It's a matter of preference, but the explorer neck is fairly thin, but not too thin. It's also very easy to move your thumb up and down the neck, because the guitar's matte finish prevents fingers from sticking.

  • epiphone

  • I think both guitars are good. in the end you get what you pay for.

  • ud get almost the same feeling out of both but I'd go with the Jackson

  • jackson

  • Never, ever, ever, ever, EVER buy an Epiphone. Jackson makes good guitars no matter the price range. I have never once played an Epiphone that i thought felt even relatively comfortable. They're basically 2x4's with makeup and pickups.

Also, fuck that pusyy shit ass music you chose :D

  • @geragna ik dude bfmv is ok i made this back when i just started listening to them i shouldve put an as i lay dying song or a trivium song

  • @mkzz410 Haha, shit those would've been worse.

  • @geragna what woudl you recommend

  • @mkzz410 put some bloodbath, slayer, megadeth, gorgoroth or benediction, then it's a good vid!

  • @mkzz410 Lamb of God, Gojira, nevermore....Judas Priest

  • @mkzz410 Sodom, Kreator or Amon Amarth, something like that

  • @TheMegaDiclonius great bands. especially Amon Amarth

  • @mkzz410 I know this convo was a year ago but dude. Trivium is the shit idk wtf he thinks he is. Trivium is real metal not metal core. btw I'd choose the kelly because its cheaper with the same and/or better quality than the explorers by epiphone

  • @geragna jesus some1 is picky

  • @geragna u have no taste in music

  • @babeast22 This made me LOL. Thank you.

  • @geragna lol, all those core guys XD DEATH METAL IS THE LAW!!!!

  • @mkzz410 they suck just as bad or even worse rofl

  • @Erick12347 Metallica, CoB, Black Sabbath...

  • @geragna epiphone isn't as bad as gibson, and bFMV is probobly the best modern metal band there is

  • @Ernesto9IL

"epiphone isnt as bad as gibson"

"bfmv is probably the best modern metal band there is"

    You are fuckin retarded

  • @bergAgreb hey dumbass watch what you say ive played the les paul supreme beacuse my friend owns it and ive played quite a few epiphones and their bettter they used to be good not anymore though but i do agree jackson kicks all their asses being a jackson 1994 owner but i have discovered other modern metal bands but they are in the high ranks for that category

  • @Ernesto9IL Dude, Epiphone is the affiliated company from Gibson.

Gibson stands over Epiphone thats why gibson is way more expensiv than epiphone.

Also, i never said that jackson is the best brand, although i agree.

But saying epiphone isn't as bad as gibson, is like saying "5000$ isn't as bad as a dogturd"

  • @bergAgreb yea i know but gibsons arent made good anymore the only thing differrent is the price but if you get an epiphone under 400 dollars its bound to be a peice of shit, and im a big fan of jackson the guitar i have has a very slim neck(the thinnest ive seen) and amazing playability but the problem is the sound so i want to get differrent pickups in it, but my schecter is good(im just not a fan of thick necks) my B.C. Rich is good but the body as uncomfortable as shit

  • @bergAgreb and my bullet strat(limited edition hardtail) is waaaay better than i would of expected and my friend has had a shit load of guitars from many brands so i test em out

  • @bergAgreb but he picked a new cheap jackson which im not fond of so it could be shitty

  • @Ernesto9IL Epiphone is the beginner line of guitars produced and owned by Gibson. You are a moron.

  • @geragna uh dumbass you dont think i know that, but my friend has a les paul supreme and he says his epiphone G400 is better and i agree

  • @Ernesto9IL Right... I'm the dumbass here. "epiphone isn't as bad as gibson..."

    Bahahahaha

  • @geragna if you havent been updated gibsons are total shit now and waaaay overpriced why not pay for the same quality for 600 dollers cheaper if you dont want to your a dumbass

  • @geragna and apparently you dont know anything about good guitars according to that peice of shit you use in your covers

  • @Ernesto9IL You're very confused. That's not a guitar, that's a 2x4. I decided I'd rather have nifty electronics, a car, and go to school, than have fancy piece of wood. I don't even play anymore so why the fuck would I buy a new one anyway? Hahaha, dumbass.

  • @geragna well then your opinion for this whole conversation doesnt matter then thanks for wasting my time

  • Epiphone Goth = Win

Fun for face melting... but you'll be fine with either guitar.

  • holy shit dude im having the same exact problem!!!! i cant choose between the 2 guitars.................which one are u planning to get?? and if u have already got it, is the guitar awesome??

  • i have the jackson i personally love it neck feel is great for the cheap price the only problemm

  • if you want good explorer shaped guitar, try finding Kramer imperial (owned by gibson) friend of mine has one, got it from his trip to the states. Sounds great distorted and clean, and if i remember correctly he paid around 300$ for it, that guitar is worth much more that that, 600$ would be more like it. Look it up

  • jackson is probably a better choise for metal

  • The explorer should come with alnico pickups, which are Seymour.

  • i would say the explorer feels better than the kelly at this price point, but look around for good guitars USED. hell you can even get a better quality jackson ke3 used for around 400-500$ and block the floyd rose so that it cannot fall backward. all you do is settup the guitar so that its in E standard and put a block off wood behind it ( screw it in or velcro it on. or buy a floyd blocker...now if you try and down tune, the guitar wont go out of tune :)

  • Your enthusiasm for playing guitar will do 10x more for you than the slight differences in these guitars will ever do: They are both solid body, fixed bridge dual humbucking pick-up guitars. Go with the one that you feel pulls you more, if you feel that you have a stronger connection with one then you will strive to inprove and go further with music and your playing ability. So although i would never go for the jackson over the epiphone, the jackson could be a vital step in making you great .

  • @hmcg020 best comment ever

  • @hmcg020 mind you that jacksons are better built guitars then epiphone, and even the quality of gibsons are declining. i asked a luthier a while ago what guitars he makes a business out of and he said it was epiphone and ibanez.

  • The neck is not that thick, however it is thicker than the average jackson. The more wood, the more ressonance though. You will get completely comfortable with it in no time. You can get a new strap lock on the back if it rides you like a bitch, it doesnt ride on me. The neck is very smooth and i can get amazing action on it with the fixed bridge. Ive been playing neo-classical, blues, groove metal etc for years now and the explorer is a very versitile and cool lllking guitar, if its got EMGs :D

  • I have the epiphone goth explorer and i have put in an EMG 81 and an 85. I have never heard a guitar with as much output as mine. I have tested the gibson equivelant and it didnt sound or feel as good. I have had this guitar for 7 years and never had any issue. Its an excellent guitar all round IF you replace the fucking shit pickups. I have a bunch of pedals but i am truly happy with the roar i get from my peavey combo and my guitar. Jackson make great guitars IF you have over $1,000 minimum

  • i'm excessively late on this, and i'm sure you've made up your mind, but having owned both i figured i'd chime in. the Epiphone Goth series was mahogany, which is a decent wood, but to me it over-emphasizes the bass tones and muddies up the sound. the neck on the Epiphone is REALLY thick and chunky. if that's what you're into, great, but if you're more versed with a thin neck, then it'll be seriously uncomfortable. they're also extremely neck-heavy due to an improperly placed strap button.

  • @AtteroTerra the Jackson on the other hand, has a nice thin, fast neck. it has 24 frets, which i personally love, despite not playing much lead. mine was heavier than the Epiphone Explorer, but not enough to be uncomfortable. also, the Jackson designed pickups will out-perform the Gibson designed pickups in the Epiphone any day of the week, so the Jackson will end up being more useful until you can get some Duncans dropped into either.

  • Get an ESP!!!!!!!!!

  • the jackson looks mean compared to the epiphone

  • the kelly comes with jackson pick ups and the epiphone goth explorer comes with alnico pickups which arnt those seymour dunan pick ups?

  • the Kelly has the strings routed through the body. I'm assuming the body is Basswood or Poplar, which, while they aren't pretty, function very well as a tonewood. Epiphone, in an effort to use a 'mystical tone wood: Korina', uses several small pieces glued together and then laminated with a thin piece on top and bottom to hide the multi-piece body. Korina is an EXCELLENT tonewood, just not in bulk and full of glue joints...

  • @MrMetalhead1980 James Hetfield had a Gibson Explorer mainly due to the fact that that was one of the only 'affordable' guitars with that shape (remember, this was twenty-odd years ago when Gibson was almost bankrupt... again...). He yanked the 'Dirty Fingers' Gibby p/u's and dropped in some EMG 81s. He did NOT like the neck shape... referred to it as 'Loggy'... so, when ESP offered an Ex shape, he jumped on it.

  • get the jackson it plays and sounds great the epiphone truly sucks i mean gibson sucks already and epiphones the low end of gibson so id really go with the jackson

  • the kelly has emg. metallica, judas priest, and zakk wylde use emg pickups. so if that is your sound get the kelly.

  • @metalhead384 im pretty sure theyre not emgs on the jackson. theyre jacksons version of emgs. i have no idea what that means but im looking to buy that jackson also. I wish it had a reverse headstock:(

  • and the explorer is short scale making fret buzz happen alot more often cause the short scale has less tension on the strings the jackson scale lenth is over a inch longer making it perfect for metal the explorer is a over priced piece of crap

  • @cobraopts7 the Jackson also has a Bolt On neck, meaning you can, someday, get Warmoth to make a neck for it with the reverse headstock, 6100 frets, scalloped f/board, ebony board, so on, so forth.

  • epiphone sucks ass anyway get the jackson epiphone is for people who dont know jack shit about guitars

  • Go with the Jackson, edgier looks and tone make for a better look and sound.

  • Ok one thing I hve the explorer it's impossible to play standing it is very very heavy neck other then that it's good!

  • save your money and get the Kelly with the tremolo its much better than both of those

  • i have a epiphone explorer, bay it!!!!!!!!

  • go with the epi. the explorer has a set neck and is much better quality.

  • @douche4ever epiphone have horrible quality jackson put alot more quality in there guitars

  • aparantly the action on the epiphone is quite high, im not sure on the jackson

  • go with the explorer because i had the same kelly before and its not as heavy as the goth explorer i actualy returned the kelly for the explorer and i love it

  • Jackson all the way, but it depends what your going for. if its anything hardcore/post core, then both is fine, but anything heavier, use jackson, i perfer jackson over most guitars

  • Go for the epi without a doubt, is made of real wood, that jackson is lighter than wool, and the epi souns and feels amazing really

  • @osamierda both guitars are made of "real wood" ?

  • i would get the jackson, the pickups arent bad at all, there actually emg-duncan style pickups, jsut jackson ones, the jackson is more a brand names and has better metal pickups then epiphone. theres your choice, and a sleeker look

  • Just think in Marty Friedman and you will find the answers my son.

  • the neck of the epiphone explorers seriously cut cup your fingers and the inlayes tend to indent but the kelly feels amazing looks amasing and i personally recommend ESP LTD EX-50

  • the neck of the epiphone explorers seriously cut cup your fingers and the inlayes tend to indent but the kelly feels amazing looks amasing and ESP LTD EX-50

  • um off top off my head epip cuz it will be more heavy for more modern metal..more bass like...cuz the wood...but the jackson wiill be more highs like treble sharpness...i have a epip les paul and two jacksons id go with the epip

  • KELLY

  • Wow, I've got the exact same problem as you, no bullshit.

  • I have the JS30KE (previous style of the JS32T) only difference are the inlays. heres a few pointers from someone who LOVES the explorer shape.

1 the music in the video sucks, i nearly stopped watching because of the music.

  • i didnt really try picking a song i just picked one from my computer recently downloaded

  • @PsychoSymantic I thought you said "a few pointers"... you even denoted your first (and apparently only...) pointer with the number '1'...

where did pointers 2-through-whatever go? Are they arguing with you over the music choice?

  • 2 the jackson is a shorter scale, meaning the neck is a little shorter. this could be bad or good depending on how big your hands are.

3 the epiphone has a mahogany body (this makes the guitar quite heavy) and bound (glued) mahogany neck (better tone and sustain) rosewood fret board 22 frets and tune-o-matic bridge.

  • 4 the JS32T has an alder body(much lighter then mahogany) bolt on maple neck (its rather unbalanced so you will have some neck dive), 24 fret rosewood fret board string through body design (adds sustain)

5 because epiphones use cheaper hardware i have heard and seen a lot of complaints about the guitars not staying in tune very well, i have never heard the complaint about jacksons though.

6 pick them both up at a local music store and play them see which one you prefer.

  • go with the kelly for two reasons.

    1.thinner neck

    2. the pick ups are kind of built to kinda match symour duuncan blackouts. You know when people have like emgs designed pick ups by ibanez well its like symour designed by jackson

  • well lets put it like this... if you like a fast playing shredder kinda guitar go for a jackson... its cheaper than the epiphone one... and it plays like a $4000 guitar... litterally... i would reccomend it 100% btw they were designed for metal so yeah... get the jackson... and for gods sakes can you be the first to review it? with playing it too? its like no one knows of the awesome guitar.......

  • IMO I would get the Kelly, but It's your choice
