Gattaca, a wonderful rendition and awe inspiring future yet to be defined. Mankind finally finds a way to establish excellence in their pursuit of space exploration. There is no more racism but you are now automatically placed as a second class citizen if you don't measure up gentically. Alas, the playing field is now equal across all classes. We are not to far off from this type of world. Great movie, great acting, great sound track
I just finished watching the movie today in my AP Biology class. Ohmygod, my mind is blown and I am in love with this movie. It's absolutely beautiful and this piece is my favorite. <3
it's amazing how much biology teachers made there's students watch this movie ... i say this because not only i red a lot of comments saying this but i also live in brazil and mine teacher made me watch it and only a few years later i really grown interest in it... this soundtrack is great also
i am not sure, no... maybe i'm just going crazy or something... but this still picture along with the music kinda gives me the feeling of remembering something... something far away... some kind of freedom that cant be described with words... makes me go back to the past and have a glimpse of the future at the same time...
I think Gattaca was ahead of its time. Can you imagine the fantastic reaction it would get if it were released this year, and not 1997? I mean, it was great then, but it flew so far under the radar that it was considered a box office failure. Yet here we are, still talking about it nearly fifteen years later.

@halosapien1 I agree. Me too, this one of my favorite pieces. This was movie was just extraordinary. It's such an inspiring film and the score was perfectly matched.
I watched this for the first time a couple weeks ago in school, biology, makes sense. I was utterly amazed at how well done this movie was though. never underestimating any movies i see in school again.
@hopebgood I'm also gay and married in Mexico, surrounded by friends, real ones, about 200,000, well 200, hahaha... you will never be purged, believe me it happens, it works, its wonderful, its bigger than all of us my dear!
i think its more like he traded his life for a memory... have you read The Crucible by Arthur Miller? its similar to Proctor... but if not, then nevermind :P
Wow, an extremely moving piece of music! I just bought Gattaca and watched it for the first time in years. I forgot how amazing the score was from Nyman. "Have I ever told you about my son? He is a big fan of yours."
@IamSamSammIam I've only watched this movie once, and but I can't tell you how much I've cried, listening to this soundtrack and thinking about that quote.
I love this piece, it tied in so well with the movie, and the saddest part when Vincent was about to leave Earth and opened the card from Jerome, and Jerome incinerated himself while this music was playing
This is just beyond beautiful! It makes me cry every single time I hear it. Composer Michael Nyman perfected this piece to a fault by touching the listeners heart & soul. I am literally in LOVE with this composure & the movie also!
A beautiful movie, one of my favorites, especially having a handicap son, and there is no measure like never giving up on your dreams despite obstacles in your life.
If you feel you can't and should not accept the cards you were given, then just rebel against the situation and prove you're worth so much better than this.
Every and each of us should be a Vincent Freeman : victorious and free, working and trying harder each day to break beyond ou limits until we reach the place we feel ours.
I think most people didn't really understand what this movie is about. Eugenics is but a setting to the drama. This movie is all about will and its power. Life is a constant struggle, and Gattaca teaches you to stand up and fight each time you are confronted to a situation that seems unfair to you. It teachs you to dream high and urges you to never give up the fight even when the whole world seems to be against you.
This movie is the main source of inspiration of my whole life. Each time I feel lost, defeated or discouraged, the only thing I have to do to regain my strenghts and courage is to watch it again, listen to this so harrowing music, and I am up on my feet again.
@alteradzy I love disaster porn.. but 2012, good god. What a horrid horrid movie. Gattaca was great. Some trash is good though.. Sunshine I liked as well. (But could the spaceship have been designed any more horribly. Talk about lack of redundancies. ) /ramble
The ever constant relentlessly that surges through the veins of so yet so many. A man cannot walk the streets without being ridiculed because of his "genes". A boy cannot make friends because of his indifference to others. Different in anyway,... yet so alike in every way. Blinded by the vision of perfection, live as the deceiver and embrace the deceived.
Hyylo, what a downer. I'd rather live my "poor" existence in a world where scientific adventure and advancement is a priority than have slighty more money and live in a world where big dreams and the pace of human advancement are stalled or curtailed altogether. All that aside this is an amazing score.
You can't program the human courage. That's something that everyone haves but only a few can find. And those people are our real heroes, because they don't do brave things for fame or glory...The do it because that's what their hearts tells them to do. There are reasons for us to be here. We have to find those reasons and inspires the world.

@megpr810 that's exactly it. i'm sick of this bogus american nature-versus-nurture debate. it's already been solved. answer: nature AND nurture TOGETHER. the end.
this is one of the few movies that make me cry...a true triumph of the spirit, when the world tells you no and you do it and better than most in the world.
Do you think music describes what you can't out into words? Pride? Sorrow? Love? Who can have the words for such emotions when music encapsulates it all with a few notes that can pierce a heart and bring tears to your eyes?
so well said. its so hard to describe, but listening to this brings so many emotions!! especially 1:50.. my fave part. LOVE THIS MOVIE. LOVE THIS MUSIC.

2) I'm teary because I know I have to wait until I arrive home to watch Gattaca (on vhs) instead of watching it here at the internet cafe.

Do you think music describes what you can't out into words? Pride? Sorrow? Love? Who can have the words for such emotions when music encapsulates it all with a few notes that can pierce a heart and bring tears to your eyes?
