  • Hey, has anyone compared the new moog minitaur and slim phatty with these two synths? Thoughts/ Thanks!

  • Anyone want to trade a prodigy or rogue for my fender rhodes 73? Or a moog liberations

  • @rcmeyerson *liberation

  • is the range of the pitchbend variable or easily tweakable? thanks in advance, jk

  • somehow i like the Rogue more because it sounds more polished somehow and it reminds me of my polivoks also :)

  • Do you think a Prodigy can do everything a Rogue can do, or are they very different machines in some ways?

  • @culturaleyes: No, the Prodigy lacks certain aspects of the what a rogue can do such as autotrig, drone, syncsweep and noise. However, the Prodigy has trianglewave on both oscillators and more independent oscillatorcontrol.

  • @lesingemonotone You obviously know your Moogs, do you know if the Voyager has the same fatness in the bass end as these? Thanks

  • @maccagrabme From my experience, the Voyager has much phatter basses than both of these synths, with a third VCO and better filters, it blows them away. However, Voyagers are ridiculously expensive and these are a bargain for what you get.

  • Bravo pour cette super démo Le singe monophonique ;)

J'ai vu un moog rogue à 800€ ! Je suis trop tenté.

En tant que connaisseur, me le conseillerais tu ?

Que faut - il vérifier avant d'acheter ?

  • Great!! What kind of mods did you apply to the Prodigy exactly?

  • This is an awesome synth, I may be able to get a good deal on the rogue, it's one that doesn't have a plug though, what is its plug's polarity and type?

  • @IEntertainers: 24v AC...check out the owners manual

  • I had a Prodigy back in the early 80's but I don't recall having the two knobs and switch just above the keyboard. Is that the sync-sweep mod?

  • @jsmaye: Yep, its env/lfo>oscillator 2 cv and oscillator 2 filter FM. :)

  • I have to laugh, my wife heard this and said "what the hell is that row" I gave her a look that would cut a door in half! women just dont get it (or do they?) but to us guys, it's sonic sex! anyone care to figure out why us guys luuurv synth bleeps etc maybe its primeval, or the knob twiddling, who cares, play it again (if only to piss my wife off haha)

  • Monster :D

  • this video made me cream my pants, fuck I want a Rogue

  • Is it just my opinion or are they good in different ways?

  • No, they are actually good in their own right. But it was interesting to see how alike you could make them sound.

    /Le Singe Monotone

  • Moog Prodigy has a better sound, with an amazing sync beetwen OSC1 and OSC2 and it look so good with its wood case,

but the Rogue is more effectistic but with a little bit less sound and look horrible at me.

The real limit of each one is the 2 and half octaves keyboard.

However they are two nice toys.

  • i think im gona go for a rogue but ill prob get moogerfooger murf to give it an edge

  • The Prodigy was way more Midrange to it

  • the stuff you're doing at the end is great, nice moogy weirdness, I love it!

  • prodigy. but they both sound awesome!

  • la cosa più figa del video? i cartoni delle uova appese al muro...!!!

  • The Prodigy sounds much thicker to me, therefore it gets my vote!

  • what does the position KEYED of the VCA mode switch on the rogue do?

you see, I am really interested in your rogue :D

  • what is the second sync-mode on the rogue?

  • one is fixed pitch and the other you can set the pitch of oscillator 2 to sweep against the envelope.

  • but can you controll the amount of the envelope affecting on osc2?

  • Yes, with the vcf env amount-pot.

  • that's clever :D

I didn't know that and so I chose the prodigy, maybe the wrong one for me.

but although a monster for great fun :D

  • As you can hear in the video, the Prodigy is capable of syncsweeps if you modifiy it. :)

  • that's right :P

but I especially like the other modification to modulate the filter with OSC 2 :D

  • It's what on Rolandsynths are called "gate mode" so you can use the envelope for filter and syncsweeps without having sacrifice swift attack on the vca for instance. And "bypass" mode means that you more or less gives the vca enless gate - "drone mode" some call it...

More questions? Send me a PM! ;)

  • is anyone able to say which one sounds better?

I have only got the prodigy and it rocks :D

but the rouge has also very nice features like noise and random

  • of course I meant the rogue, not rouge ^^

  • what is synk-sweep capabilities??

  • That is being able to sweep oscillator 2 from LFO or ENV independent from oscillor 1 or pitchwheel. Look at my other Moog Prodigy-video for more sounds.

    /Le Singe Monotone

  • Wonderful big sounds!

Prodigy is deffo on my shopping list.

    5 STARS

  • Yes, the Prodigy certainly sounds more raw.

However I would say that the Rogue is more versatile depsite its' lack of trianglewave in oscillators.

  • Do I hear a "random" program running through the Rogue between 2:50 and 3:03?

I know that a few bigger synths have that, but a ROGUE?

That's one of those sounds that you could NEVER use as a lead voice, but CAN fit in certain places as a background "filler" .

  • Yes, one differance between the Prodigy and the Rogue is that the Rogue features noise and S/H-waveform on LFO. Also auto-trig and drone-functions. On the down-side the Rogue only have one ASR-envelope where the Prodigy got two. The Prodigy also features triangle wave in the oscillators.

  • the top one is the rogue right?

  • That's right. :)

  • I want them both...

  • Very good comparative. I've posted it on switchedonsynthesizer.blogspot. com
