Thanks. Well, I guess we justified it as aiming for someone's head, and they hear the gun fire, and then turn to look - BAM hit in the forehead! (Thanks to some hop-up.) But in reality, we did not want to shoot the counter-sniper in the face, filming him, looking into the camera. It looked dumb, looking right at camera. But, to pay off the BB strike concept, turning into to RedWolf logo, we needed a between the eyes impact strike. Or at least, that's what we'd envisioned all along. Thanks - WC
plus the bullet (or BB) doesn't necessarily hit where the crosshair is pointing. Things like wind can alter the trajectory and position of the bullet (or BB) so it doesn't necessarily hit where you would expect it to.
We built a little wooden rig "birdcage" for our JVC HD video camera and put some plastic pulleys on top of it. Ran 100 yards of 300 lb. braided heavy fishing string from treetop to another tree way down range. We hit "rec" on the camera and they zinged the bugger down range, FAST. Had a "brake" wire mounted on bungie cords to stop it before it creamed the tree. All done it reads like a bullet flight with proper editing. Very simple, home-made solution to a special effect shot. Thanks - WC
The sniper rifle we used is a heavily modified AGM M14. Not the best foundation for a sniper to be sure. But with a M130, some metal bushings, a Turbo 3000, and MadBull 6.02 mm tight bore, it has both ROF and some nice range. We estimate it pumps out 440 fps, at around 10-22 BB's per second. Not to mention it's got a 3X9 by 40mm scope and a custom camo paint job. I cut it down 4" to make a M14 Scout length gun. It's not our best quality rifle, but it's sure a sweet looker that turns some heads.
Good job but you need to pace your breath and walk more quieter and to everyone who wants to know, when your going to take a shot, hold your breath, it will steady the shot
holding your breath actually makes your muscles move more, so the best thing to do is to breath in really huge deep breaths rather that holding your breath
Well, a huge congratulations to the WINNERS! Thanks for such great competition in this contest - there were so many nice videos. And THANK YOU REDWOLF for sponsoring this YouTube online video skirmish! - WC
Thank you too, and to all who submitted a video into the competition. We have enjoyed watching them all and the team are all overjoyed to see the amount of support shown for this competition . We look forward to seeing more cool videos the next time round ;) Redwolf
WOW!! I just read through our comments one last time and I wanted to say A HUGE THANK YOU to all you who commented on our video, and to others of you who "Thumbs Upped." This has been a fun contest, and experience for us YouTube "noobs". We were really impressed by several of the videos in this contest. A few are just outstanding. Obviously, there's some great amateur video director talents out there. Thanks again for all the great support & votes! THANK YOU REDWOLF. Good luck competitors! - WC
Okay, now that I have watched pretty much every video in this contest - this vid has emerged as one of my favorite 3 or 4. This video actually feels like a scene from a movie, with some story and suspense. Not just airsofters farting around with a camera. I like a couple of the animated ones too, but out of the "traditional" videos, this one is my favorite. Looks like First Person Shooter is going to win, with votes and hits. But this little video is a class-act piece of filmmaking!!
After watching more of these, I'm impressed by the balance you've shown. Some videos are way over the top. Fun, but not particularly believable. I feel like they're showing me the fun, but not inviting me to participate. Others are basically catalogs on film - informative, but man... make me care. Yours, on the other hand, just kind of immerses me in the experience, makes me want to join you, and makes me want find at more about Redwolf. Nice, nice work.
Hey everybody: THANK YOU AGAIN, for all the encouraging compliments & comments! Several people have asked how we did the "bullet shot" - so here it is: We built a simple wooden camera rig, just like a miniature (LOW TECH) version of the cable cam rigs the NFL uses to fly the camera out over a football field in a big stadium. We used scrap wood and 150 lb fishing line. Our shot flight was 75 yards long. Our video camera was flying through the woods just like a giant airsoft BB! Fun to watch! - WC
I had to review it again and I swear the film sends me to a mental state of a recruitment film for the Special Forces or SAS, until the end where it goes to fun. I think I may suggest war gaming at my friend's ranch now-Dads against sons.
I hope redwolf will see the marketing value in the elegant sophistication of this kind of film making. It's work like this that actually elevates the sport and the airsoft industry. There's actually an idea in this video, and some decent story telling. Two things usually lost on most U-tubers.
Wow you guys...I am proud to have ever played with such masters of video. I wish my sniper was that good when I was playing with you. Sweet job guys; you should so win!
Wow. THANK YOU. I am certainly humbled and surprised by all the positive responses. Man! You guys are great! We set out to shoot an ad that was more of a short film. We felt that a brand as cools as RedWolf deserved better than a retail infomercial - simply outlining products and services. We tried to craft something a big brand like Nike or Mercedes might do. Not talk retail sales, but just inspire emotion! In this case, try to replicate the adrenaline rush we airsofters LOVE about AIRSOFT! -WC
what can I say. The muffled audio of human voices is a very good idea. I love the camera action as if a photo journalist is following along in a real battle. The zooming in through the scope is sick especially the kill shot. Well Done!
Best one! Awesome production--from the cinematography to the sound design to the story. Simply amazing. Wish I knew how you pulled this off. You get Jerry Bruckheimer to produce it?
