Modern nuukes today compared to the ones that we used in hiroshimas is 30times more effective than they were back then. I'm American and I have to say, we've deserved a good nuking for a long time coming now. Japan acted rationally during a time of war, they attacked Pearl Harbor which as far as I know was a military base occupied only by military personel, and we responded by murdering and deforming uncountable numbers of women and children with nukes. As fierce fighters the Japanese were they would've fought even harder knowing that their mainland Japan was being taken. And you have to realize that in order to do this a large amount of boming of major Japanese cities would've taken place killing civilians. Using the Nuke was a way to save.

And they tortured/executed thousands of our soldiers in their prison camps! Plus, it was there fault for the second atomic bomb, they saw what the first one did and we told them that if they didn't surrender we were going to atomize them again. We may have killed thousands with the bomb but if the war dragged on they would have lost more. We saved lives!

I'm American and I have to say, we've deserved a good nuking for a long time coming now. Japan acted rationally during a time of war, they attacked Pearl Harbor which as far as I know was a military base occupied only by military personel, and we responded by murdering and deforming uncountable numbers of women and children with nukes. Honestly if America was devastated by nuclear warfare right this second, I dont think a single person could say we didn't deserve it.

Second, the U.S. never even tested the bomb before they dropped it on them. They didn't know it would cause defects later. That's why they don't use them anymore, and instead we made the MOAB. The Japanese attacked us, even though we weren't in the war. Do you think if a country attacks us, that the're not going to kill innocents? Go learn something.

As fierce fighters the Japanese were they would've fought even harder knowing that their mainland Japan was being taken. Right after the war USA did not had sufficient number of atomic bombs to seriously harm USSR - thats the case.Even operation Dropshot marked to execute by year 1957 involved only 200 bombs - but it was canceled exactly because by year 1949 USSR had our own nuke and thermonuke in 1953 -and while our hydrogen bombs was a weapon - US devices was a stationary buildings. And when we sent Sputnik in 1957 - everyone was asured that assault on USSR would not go unretaliated - Dropshot was canceled

in the years between 1945 and 1949, the usa could have produced several atomic bombs to use in an invasion of the ussr. why didn't they do it? answer: because they didn't want to.

By 1949 USA still has not enough bombs to cripple USSR - just take a map and compare USSR to Japan kid.
Operation Unthinkable was canceled only after Battle for Berlin - when "allies" realised that nobody even combined can stop USSR on the ground.
That is why it was switched to Fulton speech and Iron curtain - yes Iron curtain is not Soviet invention pal - and was cold war declared and NATO was formed. NATO is still there and advancing to our borders - disband NATO and CW is truly over.

are you claiming that the usa could not have built enough a-bombs in a four year period to cripple the soviet union if they were motivated to do so? you don't have to cover the entire soviet union with a-bombs to cripple it. maybe a half dozen major cities. 6 bombs.
the truth is that there was not sufficient military or political will to do so at the time, and thank God for that!

6 bombs (delivered from where and by what means?) would start the war, but not win it.
The hypothetical Soviet response would be a chemical/biological attack on major US population centers, and a ground offensive in Europe and Asia - for both of which Soviet leadership would now have a wonderful justification.
This scenario would definitely result in US military losses several times higher than WWI + WWII combined, and if USSR prevailed, a truly pan-Eurasian communist empire.

Actualy you poorly imagine yourself what was soviet union after ww2 - it had completely decantralised industry - all key enterprised was scattered around 20 000 000 sq km in THOUSANDS of places - even total destruction or 6 or them would no harm USSR - it was done before - 70% of most industrialy developed regions was TOTALY obliterated by hitler - but it did not helped him to win a war and USSR in 1945 was stronger than in 1941. Also cities like Moscow is quite tough to be destroyed by nukes

You simply poorly realise scales of Russia not to mention USSR - operation Dropshot counted 300 50Kt nuclear charges (Moscow alone 25 units)and even this was not found enough so was planned to drop 200 000 units of conventional bombs on other 100 cities.
I suggest you to study something on Russia and Soviet Union potential right after WW2

regardless of how many bombs they may or may not have had, my point was simply that they had no desire to use them on the soviet union or start a war. i know the idea of a peaceful america raises ex-sovok eye brows in the modern world but you have to remember that smarter people were running the usa back then...
