so far this is the best ebow video on youtube. all the other vids are just a bunch of dorky guys in their bedrooms trying to use something they dont know how to use.
hey this sounds amazing. I play in an ambient/indie band so this is right up my ally. but can someone explain to me how he gets that amazing feedback? is it a pedal or what?
Hi again, just got my ebow plus delivered yesterday and working on technique. ive been trying to get that smooth sound you have in this video attempting to jam along with it to master the technique, is your g string detuned in this video as ive been playing along and something seems out (im using the ebow in standard mode not harmonic if that makes a difference?) did you find string crossing a pain when you started out on it as im finding it really hard to aprggio strings? cheers -
Love the sound, gonna have to buy one, can hear so many song ideas opening just from hearing the sound the ebow produces - how long have u been playing with the e bow - is the technique hard to master?
i've had it for at least 2 years now and fell in love with it the first time i heard james iha of the smashing pumpkins using one way back in the day... it's surprisingly easy to use... it's a technique in itself, but if you can already play guitar, you can work out how to use an ebow in no time. not hard at all.. just be mindful that the ebow sounds best on a guitar setting with a lot of bass and minimal treble... cheers and best of luck.
cheers... yeah, its just the boss giga delay and a boss digital reverb rv-5 with the ebow... the key thing is the guitar i think... it's just an ibanez ax series... a pretty cheap guitar... but for some reason (i think the dull pickups) it's perfect for ebow... i've never heard ebow sound better on any other guitar... no matter how expensive i try.
Maybe a "duh" thing to say here, but have you tried rolling back the tone knob on your other non-Ibanez guitars? That can take away some of the sharp treble edge you might be hearing with those guitars.
i know what you mean about reducing the treble but i think it's more to do with being able to control the 'nice sounding area' on a guitar with powerful pickups... i'm sure other guitars can sound just as nice but you have to be extremely careful about not moving the ebow a millimeter. i really recommend you try an ax to see what i'm talking about.. cheers.
i could losten to this all night... lovely... lovely... yeah... cant really think what else to say... just... lovely... mmmm... nice... x

thats weird... i put comment up, but it didn't post.
this is great! i play for a living as a looping artist & i'm always getting people asking me what that thing with the little blue light is.
good to see someone who knows how to use it! 5 stars!
i've posted a video of me at a looping clinic i was asked to do at chicago guitar center last week. hope u dig it and hope to hear back from ya, bro.
i gotta pack... i'm leaving for 3 gigs in baton rouge from Ohare tomorrow morning...

Is your base sound clean or distorted in this video? Hard to tell with the ebow. Great piece by the way, keep at it!
mindvibe 4 years ago
it's clean but the ebow tends to make it sound a little distorted..... thanks

and the tone sounds perfect for what you're playing, and your just using the giga delay and reverb?
