first of all, you can change the tempo whenever you want! Either you change it with the knob or you tap it with the bpm button.
if you have ableton it is a really good investment, because you can use it as a midi controller. Just search for "KP3 as a MIDI Controller" and watch Denkitribe's video.
You dont need any midi cable to synch the KP3! you just have to set the same BPM at both machines (for example 130) and than you just have to touch the KP3 in the right moment. :D
