@johnnnyreb51 I run a 57' trailer with the wheels all the way back and I drive around in a dense city every day. Never even came close to this happening. It's quite simple... Pay attention.
@torchgun A class A for 15 years. I put on around 3 million. And the only time to worry about your tandems is when being weighted. Try hauling 59,000 in flat steel overloading my truck by 6,000 pounds gross and going around the scales because the whole rig weighted in at 86,000 plus. I did that run for over four months and never went out of two states Alabama and Georgia. Never left that steel plant with less then 55,000 pound. Boss knew it and said he would pay the fines if I got caught.
To reverse a vehicle of this type on the blind side takes a lot of practice. On the blind side means to reverse in the direction opposite to that of where the driver is sitting. Once that trailer's rear end moves out of sight of that offside mirror it's gone into the twilight zone. If you're not sure about it, the best advice is don't do it. Keep going until you can reverse on the drivers side; come back to that junction, and then you can reverse on the drivers side again. Job done.
I once saw a driver in MA from another company get his tandems stuck on a cement barrier trying to leave a small truck stop. It happens regardless of who you work for. If you are an idiot driver, you are an idiot driver. The driver that I saw do that didn't work for Swift by the way.

I drove 25 yrs long before spring brakes, jakes and power steering I cut my teeth on "two sticks, no a/c, no power steering and no GPS".you had to know how to drive, read maps and hand fill out your logs.. some just do not belong in a cab and some do. I trained at the Swift academy in Phonenix Ar. Although There are some very good Swift drivers out there the fact remains that they pass people that shouldnt be allowed to drive a car in a video game. I saw first hand people that were passed that could not even back the truck up without getting it all cocked and jacknifed, pass drivers that were too afraid to drive over 45 on the freeway, pass drivers that ran over curbs on test, drivers that couldnt remember all parts of their inspection
I dont work for swift or werner or any of them companys, but all you truckers had to start some where..I see all companys, and a whole lotta private owners flipped on there side too, in fact i see less large companys in wrecks, maybe some of ya should take lessons from them, so that way i dont have to keep flippin ya all back over and cleaning up your shit off the roadways!!

I worked for swift for 3 months and I turned in my keys. Not that I hated swift I just hated truck driving. Truck driving is not for me because I hate the life style and the stress. I was always delivering around the north east and I hate traffic and I wouldn't want the guilt of being the cause of an accident. This life style isnt for me. I'm getting ready to do my training run with Werner. I went to CDL training through MTC. MTC was great about emphasizing setting up your turns, and even took us down routes with extremely difficult lefts and rights, including a double right on a narrow lane, in a construction zone.

I drove for swift for over 2 years and im not just saying these things out of spite or anything, I left on good terms and actually enjoyed the job much, I think it says alot that not very many swift drivers have their CBs turned on because they know they arent good drivers. alot of them will tell you because they get harassed just for bein swift, but i always had my on and it wasnt that way. At least not very often. its all about numbers and money with swift imo!

I trained at the Swift academy in Phonenix Ar. Although There are some very good Swift drivers out there the fact remains that they pass people that shouldnt be allowed to drive a car in a video game. I saw first hand people that were passed that could not even back the truck up without getting it all cocked and jacknifed, pass drivers that were too afraid to drive over 45 on the freeway, pass drivers that ran over curbs on test, drivers that couldnt remember all parts of their inspection

I dont work for swift or werner or any of them companys, but all you truckers had to start some where..I see all companys, and a whole lotta private owners flipped on there side too, in fact i see less large companys in wrecks, maybe some of ya should take lessons from them, so that way i dont have to keep flippin ya all back over and cleaning up your shit off the roadways!!

Swift does a disservice to the people who train in their schools. it's the cut corners in Swifts training program that leads to Swift tucks being in so many silly situations. the Swift training schools have been raided several times by D.O.T.

I worked for swift for 3 months and I turned in my keys. Not that I hated swift I just hated truck driving. Truck driving is not for me because I hate the life style and the stress. I was always delivering around the north east and I hate traffic and I wouldn't want the guilt of being the cause of an accident. This life style isnt for me. The insane thing is I may have to go back. Wife is pregnant AGAIN and got no money coming in. MY GOD WHYYYYYYYYYYY?????

I'm getting ready to do my training run with Werner. I went to CDL training through MTC. MTC was great about emphasizing setting up your turns, and even took us down routes with extremely difficult lefts and rights, including a double right on a narrow lane, in a construction zone.

How could you be a fan of swift? Just one of the companies that's made it nearly impossible for the owner operator to make a good living! Who the hell can compete with moving freight for a dollar a mile?? Swift can do it because they keep a turnover rate above 100% and continue to pay the new drivers 0.26 cents per mile, they run the shit out of them while the drivers who've stayed with them and received raises end up making less after a couple years then when they started. swift can eat a &!@%

@throttlehard What do you work for swift? The fact is swift drivers cause about 10 time as much damage as any other drivers out there. This is because of the half assed training they get. And as for the super truckers, they are a bunch of jerk offs that just love to try showing up all the other drivers. Can't wait to tell some one how long they've been driving. It's the hole gotta be top dog. Gotta be the best in the world kind of thing.. Oh and a truck doesn't make anybody a super trucker.

To respond to your remarks about Swift causing "ten times as much damage as any other drivers," do you realize how many trucks Swift Trans operates? With over 17,000 trucks, they are the largest trucking fleet in the nation so after doing the math, such numbers would only be plausible.
I hear you and agree with you about the "super trucker" thing but try telling that to "Jimbo and his 379 SUPER TRUCKING PETE!" and he'll tell you differently.

@TwistedRides where's your proof? do you have documented statistics from the NSTB or any other safety orginanization to make a statement like that, I've been driving big trucks since 1991, and my last six have been with Swift. In the eyes of some drivers, I'm still a young pup. Swift is like any truck company in the U.S., and they have their cream of the crop and their bottom of the barrow.

He asked me if I was ok, I said yep.

Yea well, theres a HUGE difference to making mistakes and NOT using "Common Sense", I understand these guys are out there to make a livivng to support themselfs or familys, but if they want to make "Trucking" a career they need to use better sense of judgement.
