  • I think this video is from 1992 based on the dress styles and the display at 2:50 says "business training since 1917" along with the "75 years" logo at the bottom.

It was a pretty good clip. Thanks for sharing!

Hold on, I'm confused, if this is from 1992 (I agree with you, the fashions do imply it's from the early Nineties) then why are they talking about recession and that "business is harder now"? Weren't the 1990s a decade of economic prosperity where the economy was at it's best, just like the 1950s and 1920s?

  • @Gaznugget - The early 90s had a recession too (look up early 90s recession). The reason why the 90s was so great was because our economy was at rock bottom at the beginning, so we had nowhere to go but up. I'm hoping that that the 2010s will be a repeat of the 90s ;)

  • @landongendur

It would be nice to have a continuous cycle like that, I agree. The 2010-2019 decade being a repeat of the 1990s would be great, but you're forgetting one thing. The 1990s had extremely cheap oil prices, as like the 1980s, people were in deep denial over peak oil, global warming etc. What with oil and other rlated issues I believe the 2010-2019 decade WON'T be a repeat I'm afraid. The 1990s was in the era of cheap oil and energy. This decade won't have cheap oil. Opinions?

  • @Gaznugget - I agree, the 1990s was an era of cheap energy altogether. One interesting thing though: Gas was 1.195/litre in my city in 2006 (and I bought a Geo Metro because it was so atrocious). Now in 2010 gas is down to 1.019/litre (and I'm driving an Intrepid). In comparison the average house in my city, Regina SK Canada, was $162K and now it's $263K. So in perspective gas prices seem super low!

Exactly, so I do not believe the 2010-2019 decade (I call it that instead of 2010s because there are only names for decades 20-99 as Twenties through Nineties eg 1920-1999 or 2020-2099, the 00-09 and 10-19 decades don't have names eg 1900-1919 or 2000-2019.) will have cheap energy like the '80s and '90s and thus we may soon have another '70s, but on a wider, more disastrous trail unfortunetely. Maybe in 2012.....
