i think that you shoud get your kid a leap pad. becus the leap pad is 100$ but it is worth it and it is cool and simler to a ipad so i think that is a good choice and it is hard to loose and eazy to do stuf
It should be mentionned that the Leappad takes VIDEO and photos. This is why my daughter wanted it so much. She got it yesterday and has been playing non stop and taking/making her own videos and photos of everyone. She simply loves it. I have had bad experiences with VTech in the past and have always found Leapforg products better built and with more educational content. Either way, thanks for helping get that out there!
@alpoulin1 I agree 100% with you that Vtech products are badly made v. Leapfrog. I've notice about every year or so my sister buys her five year old son a vtech product and i'll get my five year old daughter a Leappad product. And evrytime she makes comments about how much better my daughter leapfrog is more than her son's vtech, I be like then stop buying them. Maybe becasue she's always complaining about how LP is pricy, but I say well your only getting what you paid for,lol.
I brought the Innotab for my daughter, and she's will be totally fine without the camera part. Guess that's what makes it so affordable, as for the leappad being its in the $100 rang I'm guess your really paying for the camera.. I honestly perfer the innotab because I read that you could hook up a V-tech kids camera to the device. Thanks for the video, now I can tell others about it's differences..
You don't necessarily hook up the camera, as much as you can take the SD card out of the camera and put it in to the Innotab to view the pictures.
Which, on paper, isn't that bad... but, it's a little impractical because you have to take the batteries out to put the SD card in the innotab. Plus, then you have to swap sd cards to play your saved games (assuming your games are on a different SD card). You're better off saving them and loading them to one.
Also, on our FB page there is a parent that is talking about it.. and, it seems like she's in love. A lot.
When it was $200, it was hard to put it up against the kindle fire sight unseen, but, on sale for $150 (as of this writing), the Nabi is a real contendor.

I think if you look through some of my earlier comments, I refer to the Innotab's approach to education a bit more on the "edu-tainment" approach. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but, there's a bit more of a entertainment based approach.
Hard to put your finger on, but you probably know what I mean.
Camera is no big deal, my son has a dsi so he can take his pics on his dsi and download them to the innotab. I think I will get the old lady to get the innotab.
I just bought leappad and I got a great deal from shopping online for the toy. It was sold out everywhere. I could not find it anywhere. I am so grateful that I was able to get it for my son. He looked at it as though it was the next best thing to the coming of Jesus Christ! The best christmas toy for parents and kids. Parents give their kids an educational toy and the kids get a fun game to play with.-win-win situation.
Thanks SO MUCH for this presentation !! I was unsure about the differences; not really updated on all this technology. Have a week to get one of these for my 5 year old !!
We bought the Innotab for our grandaughter, and we also bought the vtec camera that takes pictures and video's, and hooks up to your innotab. I like the two features seperately,
Just make sure you get a SD card for the Innotab because you will need it if you are going to get downloadable apps or transfer the pics from the computer to the innotab.
@thetoyspy Thank you, Im so glad, cause we had bought my 3 yr old the innotab for christmas, then I was doubting wether I had made the right choice. Im sure I made the right one, considering we also bought her the fisherprice kid tough camera, so the innotab not having a camera isnt really a problem, plus shes accustomed to playing with our ipad so im sure she'll appreciate that its ipadish :)
You'll be happy :) Just be sure to set it up ahead of time so it works when they open it. And grab a SD card if you want to download games / mp3s / video.
@SimpleLu09 There is a vtech camera that you can buy that is compatible with the innotab. Its called the Kiddizoom camera. Its just like a real camera, just a little hardier... lol You can load the pics onto the innotab!
Seeing this makes me glad I got my girls Innotab's instead of explorers. They already have VTech cameras so that wasn't anything we needed. MP3 playback and expandable memory all the way! And it's good to know that the response time on the drawing app is better. :) Thanks for the review!
Just be sure to grab a SD card so you can load up your videos. Also, someone posted an awesome guide on converting the vids on our FB page too this weekend so you can check that out as well.
ok I can't find the leappad anywhere in Canada can somebody please please help me find one ASAP or pick me one up in the states and ship to me :( green please
We bought the Leappad for my 3 yr old but she was too young IMO. My 7 yr old took it over and I LOVE the faetures of the camera. She made her own book and I learned a bit from it. We are still new to it and I can't wait til she gets more games and more apps.
Can anybody tell me how long is the Innotab?, i want to buy a sleeve for it since i cant find the actual case but i need to know what size to get. thx
Did you crack 'em open yet? I've been telling a lot of the parents on our FB page to do that because there is a little bit of setup (on both innotab and leappad) that you will want to do if you want to be able to enjoy them ASAP after opening :)
@thetoyspy I always open them before them...I was gonna put movies and music on it but i didnt know I need SD card. waiting on SD card to come in mail
After seeing this video I am glad I made the choice to get the innotab...My son has a dsi and if he wants a camera he can turn that on, I really do not like the lag in the leap frog at all!!!!
The leappad does have the built-in camera however that makes for games that the innotab will never be able to do. And, if that's important to you, it's good to know about and that's really the bigger choices to make. Unless of course you have lots of explorer carts already as they are compatible.
Thanks for showing the lag.. We got our daughter the Vtech Innotab, came with a case for 79.99 and got two games for her as well.. and the SD card.. Also about the camera on the leappad, it's a cool feature, but you are also paying the extra 20 for that feature.. So I am happy we went with the INNOTAB..I don't like the lag on the leap pad, so I am glad we went with the innotab. :D
Any thoughts about comparing these to the Nabi kids tablet from Toys r us? If you were thinking of purchasing between one of these and the Nabi, what would be your advice? This will be for a 4yr old who is pretty advance for her age. Note: we dont have any games from previous products like the mobigo or explorer. Any of these products will be completely new to us. Thanks
Well, up front... i don't have the nabi or touched it.
That said, it's another Android tablet. All android tablets have their own "front end" which is the way you interact with it. The Nabi is supposed to have an interface that makes it friendly for kids to use.
That's the positive.
The (potential) negative is Android tablets prior to the new Nook color and Amazon Fire have been "ok" at best. And, there are lots of other cheap android no-name tablets. Come to FB. We'll talk!
Hah! No need to be mad. They are both good buys - just depends on what you are looking for in the end. The nice thing about the LeapPad is that since it has that built-in camera, you can use it in the apps. And that makes for a good time.
im kind of bummed right now cus i bid pretty hi on the leappad from ebay. the stores are out of it,of course... i shoulda got the innotab from kmart when i saw it. cant tell my husband about the difference (sad face)
This is great. I was already pretty sure we wanted the Innotab due to the MP3 and expandable memory. Now that I see the drawing app on both, I am totallysold. The camera is a non-issue for us. My son already has the Vtech KiddieZoom camera.
it was very important to show the lag in response time when writing on the Leappad. I was all-a-go for the Leappad bcs of the camera, but that lag is a real turn off... thanks so much for providing this vital information!
I agree. The LeapPad has it's place, but, there is a noticeable difference in the two. The InnoTab delivers an experience that is more iPad like. The LeapPad, to me, feels a bit more like last gen Explorer fit for an iPad body including the camera. Which ISN'T bad ... the integrated camera allows for some really fun apps. And I'm sure that's going to be a big push in future apps too.
Trains. He LOVES trains so all the train ones got him excited. Which is amazing to me cause he is VERY scared of loud noises due to his sensory disorder and that kid powered train hurt my ears, but I think that was his all time favorite video. Thank you though for doing these. They help me decide what to get him for xmas. Oh and he loved those fijit things lol. those are cute!
Oh sure!! I know that one. Hard to forget. The kid powered train set of Chuggington. The noise you hear in that video is increased about .... 10 fold in real life. :) It's probably not the right toy for him but it is really fun. I think it's a bust-it-out every once in a while type of toy. Not forgotten, but, not always a daily play. Just overall fun toy (with lots of noise).
And fijits - thats a big one!
And thanks, we'll keep making vids if you keep watching!
I love this comparion video its very informative I was having a hard time deciding which game system to buy for my kindergardner... I love the Inntab it sounds great. I know the camera is not included but you can still view pictures via the SD card slot. I want to purchase the kidizoom camera for it.. Question is can it be conected to the innotab? I like that the games are so affordable. Can it play videos on the SD card.
It can! I always say it's a matter of what you CAN do and practicality. You can take the SD card right out of the vetch cameras and into the innotab (per manual, not my experience). But... then, you are swapping the SD card in and out... And, it's not something you can do quickly or easily (battery in the way).
I think in practice, you'll be dumping pics off and loading them on to the innotab SD card you get. And, it can play vids but AVI MJPEG format only. You convert.
2 HOURS? My wife says I'm the only one that can watch myself for that long! Thank you for proving her wrong! :) Seriously though, that's great! Any favs along the way?
Thanks for the reply. I LOVE the camera feature BUT I think with the leap pads slow response my son would get mad so ty for the video I think the inno tab is for my little man plus looks more durable with all the frame around the screen
Id love to get one of these for my son but I think both are over his head but the touch pad is under his level. Curiosity out of the 2 which is more durable if dropped?
Really fair review! We got the InnoTab before seeing this review and are very happy with our purchase. After seeing a few demos of the LeapPad's touchpad accuracy and overall load times of apps I even feel better about the purchase.
Our daughter already has a 2 MP camera that we bought her. Not sure what the camera specs are for the LeapPad but you can easily get a 2 or 5 MP camera for $20-25 at Bestbuy. So for $100-110 you have 2 devices that do a really good job vs 1 that does ok.
Thanks! I'm happy AND relieved to hear that you like the innotab after I influenced you :)
I didn't necessarily set out with one in mind to say this-is-the-one. They both have features the other doesn't. Just depends on what you are looking for.
That all said, I agree with your direction. And since you are in the vetch world, you can pop the SD card in direct from their camera line... But, how real is that in practice... Will you want to switch SD cards all day.
@thetoyspy Here's a Innotab tip for your subscribers Download and install FreeMake Video converter. Deselect the adware during setup. Select your video(s) and pick AVI. Make a custom profile by selecting "Add your Preset". Enter Innotab for the Title. Set your Frame Size to Custom and enter 480x272, Leave adjustment default. Codec select XVID, 15FPS frame rate, Bitrate leave default. Audio codec select PCM, Mono Channels, Sample Rate 22050 and default bitrate 1 Save Convert!
Hi, Great review! I bought the innotab for 3 reasons 1) the leappad was sold out. 2) I thought they would like the fact that they can listen to music and watch movies. 3) I plan to buy the vidizoom camera so they will still have the abilitity to take pictures and movies. My question is do you have any recommendations as far as apps/ games? I have 2 girls ages 4 and 6. Anything you or your kids really love? Thanks for your help.
Thanks! Nothing wrong with any of those reasons. Actually, they are all good ones.
I'm trying to get a good selection of apps together so I can give some good advice. I know there are a few people that have put some orders in on our FB page /thetoyspy during a great sale on Cyber Monday at Amazon. They probably will be getting theirs soon.
Gimme a couple of days and I'll be sure to let you know!!
Awesome! Did you crack it open yet? ANDDDD.. Good day today! If you hop on our facebook page at fb/thetoyspy there's a really good cyber monday deal going on with carts - 50% off that we posted up.
@thetoyspy I have not cracked it open because my monster-in-law was insisting her friend would find a Leap Pad down in the US on Black Friday. I told her she was A) Nuts and B) Looking for the wrong product. So now she is going to re-emberse me for the Inno and give that to my son as an x-mas gift. Luckily I picked it up when I did. I will check out the deals you've mentioned as well. Thanks again.
This was great, but still didn't answer what I came here questioning. I was wondering what apps are pre-installed on the InnoTab. If you could just walk through all of them quickly, it would be super helpful! I was mainly interested in the writing app, does it help them learn their letters and how to write them? I have a feeling that is something I would use for my child the most. I want to know if buying this product is worth it!
Have a full look over the channel or the videos I linked to in the description - it has the entire out of the box experience for both innotab and leappad. Grab a cup of coffee or two though. It's long, but, you'll see it all!
Thanks for the comparison video, you saved me so much time!!
I will be buying the Inno Tab. Seems to be quicker, and all round better. Unfortunately, it doesnt have a camera. But I'de be willing to bet the next version in a year or two will!! And will be easier for kids to crossover, rather learn a new toy!! Plus the bigger size is easier for kids to work with, and it can stand up on its' own. And best yet... its' the cheaper of the two!! More money for games and apps!! Thanks again!!!!!!!!
Awesome. Happy to hear it helped. I try to highlight the big points that everyone asks about and show some of the key differences. The rest, is up to the viewer! Thanks for the comments in both places! Like I said on the other one, I'll be sure to make sure he sees yours!
Thanks for the reply. Which one has more educational content? I want something educational for my 3 year old. I feel like some say one is better than the other for educational content, but no one says why. THANKS!!! (I subscribed, you have some great toy reviews, thanks).
Second - your question is REALLY hard to put a finger on. It's... one of those things that you just feel, ya know? It's more of an emotional feel for the content rather than a hard "this is more educational on the leappad versus more entertaining on the innotab"... Neither is really true, but, it's more the style and presentation. Same way as if you watched a few different comedy shows on TV let's say. All comedy, different execution.
Thanks! We got a lot of questions (and good ones) a lot on the walkthrough videos so I figured, why not let people watch me going through my closing thoughts on them? So, here is what you have!
As for the edutainment factor.. Like I said a reply above this, it's hard to put a finger on... It's just something you feel, but, the vtech is a bit more "edutainment / iDevice-like" etc. ... Hopefully that makes some sense. I think it does when you watch the videos and try it.
Hey, btw, I checked out your channel too. So, what's the right makeup methods for me incorporate so I look good enough, but, not too distracting so that you lose sight of the toys? Maybe we'll do a cross-over video someday and people can see a before/after toy spy.
:)
But, seriously, thanks for the kind words!! Much appreciated! Let me know if you have any other questions about them! And, which one did you end up leaning towards in the end?
thanks for your review i was sooo stuck on which one to get but i think my monster will enjoy the video and stuff the innotab has more than the leappad keep up the great reviews :)
Great review!!! One other thing that you might want to mention is that the LeapPad books have the ability to change reading levels, so it grows with the child; the Innotab books do not change reading level unless you buy different books. In my opinion, I think the Innotab would appeal to children that are a little older than the appeal of the LeapPad. My daughter is almost 3 and very tech savvy, so we got her the LeapPad only because I feel it might have more educational value than Innotab.
Very good point! Thanks for adding that to the mix!! I can only cover so much in the limited amount of time both in the video and my hands on so I really appreciate other parents help! Thanks!
Did she get it yet or is it a xmas/holiday/whatevever-you-celebrate gift? Interested in hearing how she likes/liked it!
And, I do define the InnoTab as more of ... a "edu-tainment" device. It's educational, but, a bit more skewed towards entertainment IMHO.
Thanks for the post. My daughter is 3. I was leaning towards the LeapPad, because of the size and the camera. Your review has changed my mind, though. I think speed is important, and the LeapPad looked sooo sluggish. I just wish the Innotab was smaller. It looks HUGE, and I am worried it will be uncomfortable in the grip of my petite 3 year old.
I think I'm a few responses behind so if I already responded, let's see if I say the same thing. Otherwise, ok! Let's talk! :)
If you are familiar with the older leapfrog explorer, I think you will find that they are very similar devices. So much so, that IMHO, and nothing else, that's basically what it is - an adapted all-in-one tablet formed version. It is called "LeapPad EXPLORER" after all. But that's not a "bad" thing.. Just if you want iPad like, InnoTab is more.
And, you are correct - it is pretty big.... Too big for a 3 year old? ... Mine seems to do just fine with it if that helps! So, try them both out in the store if you can, and, hopefully I gave you the info you need to get the one for you!
My daughter who is 3 loves to watch videos. The Innotab has an expandable memory slot where hours of entertainment can be enjoyed.Also the apps are a bit cheaper which more apps are better in my opinion, "more ipad like"-CORRECT. The leappad only has 2 gigabytes does not go very far at all in terms of internal memory which means you always have to keep rotating storage of which apps to keep. The quality of the pictures are not very good almost as bad as an original picture phone. Innotab WIN
Thanks for your quick responses! Particularly your son who likes the Innotab. Maybe you answered in another comment. What are your kids ages? My son is 4 1/2. My daughter is almost 3.
I'm leaning towards keeping the Innotab. I put batteries in it and it's pretty cool. And what I get one I'll get the other, just to avoid the fights. And to share software.
But... I want to know which one you and the spy kids like best. I bought the Innopad because the Leappad was sold out. I am, however, willing to wait until it's back in stock.
I will say that I'm tired of the Leapfrog website and was yearning to get away from it because it annoys me to no end.
Also, I can't tell what apps are available (and the price) on the vetch website because I haven't connected the device.
WOW!!! Putting me on the spot! I'm surprised it took this long :-)
I will say this. My son likes the InnoTab better. It's more iPad like (in his opinion). My daughter on the other hand likes the LeapPad more because she loves taking pictures of things.
BTW, the LeapPad site has good bundled (with additional upsells) stock of LeapPads.
You can check out the InnoTab online store items on our FB page at /thetoyspy because others asked so I made an album.
Don't get me wrong - there is nothing inherently "wrong" with the LeapPad. By my eyes, I found the InnoTab to be more "iPad-like", but, the LeapPad is a good choice too ... especially if you need / want that built in camera. In this world, its "the" choice then.
Thank you!! I'm glad you found this one and got what you wanted out of it! For what it's worth, my daughter kept taking picture after picture after picture... after picture with the LeapPad in a very long car ride. So, it's a used feature for sure!
Ha!!! Yea, I saw all of your comments coming in while I was away this weekend. Thanks for all of the great feedback! Wow. I'm not even sure I could watch myself and my videos that long so thanks for enduring all that :) We read each and every one of these comments so it gets back to us. Thanks!
But can you get the pictures and/or video off of the leap pad device? If you can't get it off the device then wouldn't it be better to just let them do that with their own cheap camera?
You most certainly can get the stuff of the leappad. So, it doesn't have to just live on the device. And some of the apps, like an iPhone or android phone, use the camera to integrate pictures into them. Check out the full walkthrough video to see how that all works if you haven't yet.
Mmm. Hop over to our Facebook page at /thetoyspy and you'll see a screen shot of all of the available games to download as of about a week ago. Someone had a similar question so I made a quick photo album of what was available! Hope that helps. Let me know! That way, you can see it all.
@thetoyspy My son is 5 and has used an iPad Touch since he was 2. We bought him the LeapFrog 2 and it was too "Educational" to keep his interest. He loves Lego games for the xbox360. (We also have a 2yr old who would use it)
Because he is an old pro at the iDevice world, I think the InnoTab will behave more as he expects - it has the tilt sensor... more media friendly, mp3s, video loading (but you will need to convert to the AVI MJPEG format on your own -- the included software doesnt do it) and it's a bit snappier.
It's just going to "feel" more like an iDevice to him than the LeapPad will.
HOWEVER, you'll lose that builtin camera. Deal Breaker? You tell me.
the ads are inapropriate for little kids.

Just make sure you get a SD card for the Innotab because you will need it if you are going to get downloadable apps or transfer the pics from the computer to the innotab.

Sorry idk if I missed it, but which one would you buy?
SimpleLu09 2 months ago
@SimpleLu09
For us, it was the innotab overall but my daughter loves the camera to take pictures of her feet on the LeapPad.
:)
She's just about three so it's a lot of fun for her.
But, overall, it's the innotab for us. But, as you saw, we have the iPad as well so I think the preference for us is the more-iPad like, the better.
thetoyspy 2 months ago
@thetoyspy Thank you, Im so glad, cause we had bought my 3 yr old the innotab for christmas, then I was doubting wether I had made the right choice. Im sure I made the right one, considering we also bought her the fisherprice kid tough camera, so the innotab not having a camera isnt really a problem, plus shes accustomed to playing with our ipad so im sure she'll appreciate that its ipadish :)
SimpleLu09 2 months ago
@SimpleLu09
You'll be happy :) Just be sure to set it up ahead of time so it works when they open it. And grab a SD card if you want to download games / mp3s / video.
thetoyspy 2 months ago
@SimpleLu09 There is a vtech camera that you can buy that is compatible with the innotab. Its called the Kiddizoom camera. Its just like a real camera, just a little hardier... lol You can load the pics onto the innotab!
saradavis424 2 months ago
Seeing this makes me glad I got my girls Innotab's instead of explorers. They already have VTech cameras so that wasn't anything we needed. MP3 playback and expandable memory all the way! And it's good to know that the response time on the drawing app is better. :) Thanks for the review!

@lemzification they are pretty much sold out at every major retail store. You can purchase them on amazon(dot)com but they will be double the price.

We bought the Leappad for my 3 yr old but she was too young IMO. My 7 yr old took it over and I LOVE the faetures of the camera. She made her own book and I learned a bit from it. We are still new to it and I can't wait til she gets more games and more apps.

After seeing this video I am glad I made the choice to get the innotab...My son has a dsi and if he wants a camera he can turn that on, I really do not like the lag in the leap frog at all!!!!
clickwet 2 months ago
@clickwet
The leappad does have the built-in camera however that makes for games that the innotab will never be able to do. And, if that's important to you, it's good to know about and that's really the bigger choices to make. Unless of course you have lots of explorer carts already as they are compatible.
But, either way, happy to hear that this helped!
thetoyspy 2 months ago
Thanks for showing the lag.. We got our daughter the Vtech Innotab, came with a case for 79.99 and got two games for her as well.. and the SD card.. Also about the camera on the leappad, it's a cool feature, but you are also paying the extra 20 for that feature.. So I am happy we went with the INNOTAB..I don't like the lag on the leap pad, so I am glad we went with the innotab. :D
Thanks

Any thoughts about comparing these to the Nabi kids tablet from Toys r us? If you were thinking of purchasing between one of these and the Nabi, what would be your advice? This will be for a 4yr old who is pretty advance for her age. Note: we dont have any games from previous products like the mobigo or explorer. Any of these products will be completely new to us. Thanks
anom972 3 months ago
@anom972
Come to FB. We'll talk!
thetoyspy 2 months ago
and he has a 3ds which has a camera as well... the innotab would have been the better buy.. yeh im mad
mzlaqt 3 months ago
@mzlaqt
Hah! No need to be mad. They are both good buys - just depends on what you are looking for in the end. The nice thing about the LeapPad is that since it has that built-in camera, you can use it in the apps. And that makes for a good time.
So, see? I'm here for support after the buy too.
:)
You'll still be happy.

Uneducatedinmakeup 3 months ago
@Uneducatedinmakeup
Just depends on what you were looking for.
Glad you found it helpful!!!

TheAndroidAppAudit 3 months ago
@TheAndroidAppAudit
And thanks, we'll keep making vids if you keep watching!
thetoyspy 3 months ago
I love this comparion video its very informative I was having a hard time deciding which game system to buy for my kindergardner... I love the Inntab it sounds great. I know the camera is not included but you can still view pictures via the SD card slot. I want to purchase the kidizoom camera for it.. Question is can it be conected to the innotab? I like that the games are so affordable. Can it play videos on the SD card.
Claudiafox12 3 months ago
@Claudiafox12
You convert.

thetoyspy 3 months ago
Thanks for the reply. I LOVE the camera feature BUT I think with the leap pads slow response my son would get mad so ty for the video I think the inno tab is for my little man plus looks more durable with all the frame around the screen
TheAndroidAppAudit 3 months ago
Id love to get one of these for my son but I think both are over his head but the touch pad is under his level. Curiosity out of the 2 which is more durable if dropped?
TheAndroidAppAudit 3 months ago
@TheAndroidAppAudit
That sounds like a fun question that I have not explored. An expensive one, but.. :)
Mmmmm. *goes to hold them both in his hand*
They both have different attributes to them that would probably not survive well in a big drop on a hard surface. Little drops ok.
That said, they both do have cover options. But they are more "totes" than cases if you know what I mean.
I'd just try to be careful. :) Sitting on the couch playing, not running, things like that. Heh.
thetoyspy 3 months ago
Really fair review! We got the InnoTab before seeing this review and are very happy with our purchase. After seeing a few demos of the LeapPad's touchpad accuracy and overall load times of apps I even feel better about the purchase.
Our daughter already has a 2 MP camera that we bought her. Not sure what the camera specs are for the LeapPad but you can easily get a 2 or 5 MP camera for $20-25 at Bestbuy. So for $100-110 you have 2 devices that do a really good job vs 1 that does ok.

@jessewalker17
Will you want to switch SD cards all day.
thetoyspy 3 months ago
jessewalker17 3 months ago
Hi, Great review! I bought the innotab for 3 reasons 1) the leappad was sold out. 2) I thought they would like the fact that they can listen to music and watch movies. 3) I plan to buy the vidizoom camera so they will still have the abilitity to take pictures and movies. My question is do you have any recommendations as far as apps/ games? I have 2 girls ages 4 and 6. Anything you or your kids really love? Thanks for your help.

@FamilyShivers
:)
First - thanks for the compliment!

One last thought for ya on your question.
(at the risk of spamming my own video comments... heh)
"Presentation".
That's what it really comes down to. That's what it means, to me at least.
Presentation.
Both, educational. But, the presentation feels more "edu-tainment" in innopad execution.
Man, I bet you're probably like...wow. That did not help me at all, but, thanks for trying!!!
;)

My daughter is almost 3 and very tech savvy, so we got her the LeapPad only because I feel it might have more educational value than Innotab.
dlaparra 3 months ago
@dlaparra
It's educational, but, a bit more skewed towards entertainment IMHO.
thetoyspy 3 months ago
Thanks for the post. My daughter is 3. I was leaning towards the LeapPad, because of the size and the camera. Your review has changed my mind, though. I think speed is important, and the LeapPad looked sooo sluggish. I just wish the Innotab was smaller. It looks HUGE, and I am worried it will be uncomfortable in the grip of my petite 3 year old.
FamilyShivers 3 months ago
@FamilyShivers
Just if you want iPad like, InnoTab is more.
thetoyspy 3 months ago
@FamilyShivers
And, you are correct - it is pretty big.... Too big for a 3 year old? ... Mine seems to do just fine with it if that helps! So, try them both out in the store if you can, and, hopefully I gave you the info you need to get the one for you!
Feel free to ask more questions if you got em!

Thanks again so much!

@cecideci
Happy to reply to the people that take the time to comment!
My son is 6 and my daughter is 2, nearly 3.
I'm more partial to the InnoTab, personally. But I tried to not let that sway me too much in discussing the finer details of both options.
I think getting both is getting works very well - it does here!
thetoyspy 3 months ago
Love your review!
So. Your pick? :-)
cecideci 3 months ago
@cecideci
First, thanks!

But can you get the pictures and/or video off of the leap pad device? If you can't get it off the device then wouldn't it be better to just let them do that with their own cheap camera?
mommaboone3 3 months ago
@mommaboone3
You most certainly can get the stuff of the leappad. So, it doesn't have to just live on the device. And some of the apps, like an iPhone or android phone, use the camera to integrate pictures into them. Check out the full walkthrough video to see how that all works if you haven't yet.
thetoyspy 3 months ago

thetoyspy 3 months ago
@thetoyspy My son is 5 and has used an iPad Touch since he was 2. We bought him the LeapFrog 2 and it was too "Educational" to keep his interest. He loves Lego games for the xbox360. (We also have a 2yr old who would use it)
furiousgeorge00 3 months ago
@furiousgeorge00
Oh that's IS a good one. :)
You tell me.
thetoyspy 3 months ago
