    alex (brazil)

  • i REALLY like the colours and the look after the conversion, good work!

  • buen trabajo

  • Awesome

  • hey man how much money did u use jus to convert it 2 a 2door! been thinkin to do it 2my impala! would really apreaciate the feedback!

  • ok the music reminds me of christine

  • Awesome video, and great tutorial. I need to keep my eye out for 4 doors now!

1 thing I don't think was addressed though. At 4:16, I noticed the frame for the rear window. If I was ever to do this conversion, I'd want it to be the most factory-correct I can make it. Any tips on the rear window frames?

  • @yellowsnow4free

Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any reproduction window frames a.k.a. garnish moldings... But honestly, if you got the skills to do the conversion, banging the metal into the proper shape and patching it to look factory shouldn't represent much of a problem.

  • Why do you keep showing hardtops? They wouldn't need to be changed. Only sedans work with this.

  • Darryl: I was not critizing you for your conversion, but rather complimenting you!

If I had the ability to convert a 4-door to a 2-door, I'd do the same thing. It takes

a lot of skill to do this, so you are very talented!

  • You guys are forgetting one thing. You cannot change the body tag or serial plate or the title to a 2 door sedan. Anybody buying it in the future will know that it has been modified structually.

  • @fiddlerpin you could make a new serial plate.

  • @machone7I Reproducing serial plates is illegal the last time I checked and a guy got in trouble for selling reproduction serial plates

  • @machone7I You would have to find a junked 2 door and move the serial plate to the new 2 door car. The frames also have the serial number stamped on them on the top under the driver side door. You can't make new serial plates. It's illegal

  • @fiddlerpin i know making a new one its illegal, but cause somone said you could know if it was originally a two or a four door by looking at the serial plate i wondered if you could change the ones from a 2 door to a 4 door 2 door conversion so its legal and you cant notice it.

  • @machone7I I don't really know how that would work. I know the new 55 chevy convertibles being made need a serial plate from a junker and maybe part of the windshield post installed in them as the serial plates are spot welded in.

  • thanks you just inspired me to get the closest thing to my dream car 4 door 1957 chevy and make it what i want a 2 door lol excellent video

  • what do you do about changing the title to 2dr?

  • super cool, I'd like to do this to an old 58 Plymouth Belvedere 4 door someday.

  • Now I bet there is alot of 2door clones out there in car shows that use to be a 4 door the numbers will catch that or find a way too remove the 2 door numbers if you have a rusted out unrestorable doner 2 door to do that

  • I want to make friends withe these guys! :)

  • very nice 5 stars but im really a fan of equal sided cars looks beter in my opinion but that sJUST AN OPINION!!!

  • With all due respect to the 4-doors, they were meant for grandpa and grandma to

sport around town in. Great work!!

  • @sgtlzy I take offense at that. I am doing a body off restoration of a low mileage 57 chevy 4 door. The price I paid for the car was nowhere near the cost of a 57 2 dr coupe or sedan. My 57 when finished will drive just as good or as fast as a 57 2 dr and I will have built it for alot less cost. It's the exact same car from the doors forward and from the back doors backward. Hell I can even get into the back easier.

  • Hi I done a 4dr to 2dr last year but I had a rough 2dr doner car. great video great imfor.

  • cool job man, i wanna build a three door now

  • nice vid and car

  • damn good work man. you guy's convert hardtops into full working convertibles?

  • how can i cut a 1972 long bed to make it short

  • you can cut the fram to short bed specs then find a old short box to put on, my incle did his that way not to long ago, one warning though, it's alot easer if you buy a patrs truck and cut every thing off just behind the cab and welld every thing back together, its alittle cheaper too, cause you can pull other parts you need elsewhere while your at it

  • Thanks for sharing this with the world! I'm glad to see people are doing this type of projects. I did a much less involved conversion changing my '63 C10 pick-up from a long step side to a short step side then finally to a short fleetside a couple of years back. I love it now and it just looked weird before. Keep up the great work!

  • I'm almost done with a 60 Biscayne 4-dr sedan to a 60 Impala 2dr htp. Yep Sport Coupe. Long trunk and short low hardtop roof.

  • i own an original 55 chevy 2-door...that is right and tight...but i have no problem with converting 4-doors...you can find 4-doors in great shape...all things considered...i would convert a 4-door also

  • stop at 5:11 thats a 2-door hardtop NOT a converted 4-door, there is NO post just a roll bar there

  • Nice, I am making my 4 door parts car into a 2 door for the heck of it, but i am using my original doors from my 4 door by cutting 6inches out of them and welding it to the front door. I am also making it a convertible.

  • looks pretty legit good job!

  • Nice job and video, I too had a 4-door 210 once ... its now a 2-door 150 ;-)

  • so there are 2 cars right a 55 and a 57 and couldnt you use a b pillar from a 2 door sedan so you dont have to modify the latch area on the doors that would save a little time if you had the parts that is !! nice job!!

  • @guz04087 who knows

  • that is so cool that it can be done i have 58 delray 4dr will this be able to be done on a 58

  • best vidio on youtube well done the car looks great. now come over to australia and convert my 4 door 57 for me please.

  • Very cool but I must say its even cooler to see a killer looking 4 door hot rod. These days 2 door or 4 door, if its old its cool. Nice job though, looks awesome!

  • very nice job

  • Of course 4 doors are a dime a dozen, and are in much better shape compared to coupes and convert. It is just the way it has always been. This video is informative, and I appreciate it.

  • Hi I done the same thing but I had a rusted 2 door that I could use the parts from for my 4 door.I think you done a super job.

  • verey cool thats what I am planning to do with my 56 4 door

  • I would like to do this to my '66 impala and im not to fond of the 4 door if there is a way i will find it and do it!!! hehe

  • I would love to do this to a new charger. Since chargers should NEVER have 4 doors.

  • @GavinJLang so true... they should have bringed the coronet back to life if those were their plans. or the monaco. those could be four doors. and make a beautiful coupe to have the honour of being charger. or still, they could have thinked of dodge fans, and think about a 2 door version. there are even 2 door ford focus and 4 door ones, and the charger deserves that more than anybody.

  • I would have did both doors if you had the time to do one. I do not like 4 doors at all.

  • thanks always wondered how you did this.had to watch it twice.. gonna go look for a 55

  • Hey 57chevy150ky, I'm in Louisville. I assume based on your "ky" that your in kentucky also. If so, drop me a line and we can hook up!

  • Your readin' my mind! Great video. I am gonna do this!

  • why did it start as a 57 then change to a 55?-----just pics you had?

  • Hahaha.. I was gonna ask the same exact thing. If you can change the whole car like that then you are good! LoL. I like how the orange 55 is left as both. Not too many 55 chev 3 doors driving around.

  • lol still cool but it to much work lol I done a few but man I would run the other way next time good job enjoy the fever of bow tie life

  • i did the same almost with mine i did my doors and door jambs different but any how mybe check out my video its under 56 chevy

  • While I disagree with the statement, that you will make a 4 dr into a more valuable 2 dr, because anyone that runs the numbers will know in an instant, or anyone who truly knows cars will see it. But, these are very nicely done, and if you are going to chop a car up, most 4 door cars are worthless anyway. These sure are a lot nicer than the 'Shorty' versions.

  • By the way, I was speaking on the collector value of cars. Most, not all 4 doors are worth less in this respect, as a street rod, anything goes, love what you've got and don't let anyone tell you different. In hot rodding, variety is the spice of life.

  • That was just awesome, true car crafting at its best right there. Got the link off the HAMB and can't say enough, Excellent video!

    Keep up the Good work!

  • G'day Darryl

Love the video. Just joined the H.A.M.B. after seeing your vid. Been considering doing this to my '57 for years. Now it's in pieces again, so if I can find a couple of doors in Aus...who knows??

    Catch you at the Jalopyjournal

    Cheers

    Trickster

    Catch you on the

  • Hey Trickster, glad you stoped by.

Doors are being reproduced in steel, and are available brand new on Evil-bay for $1200 a pair US. With the lousy american economy, that probably works out to your favor.

    See you on the HAMB!

  • @trickster57

Glass repos are an option, until you can find steel.
