not many people these dayz appreciate what these guys did they were the best of the best and you dont get sick of that toe tappin beat :) I never have been sick of smokey and the bandit the spirit lives on mate :)
Jerry was the best, IS the best, but the Opry's need to "sweeten" already-dynamic performances like this one with canned applause was a huge nuisance.
I witnessed and met this man during a USO show tour in norther Japan, Misawa AFB to be exact;he played two nights there you see.He even got "Ol'Bubba" the 432nd TFW XO(Exec Officer) to get up on stage and play the spoons w/him. To me, it was a treat to meet him, laugh with him, him laugh at me and me at him! A good Ol'boy that wont hold back his hand or his smile to great you. Jerry, I hope you didnt suffer too much with your disease, you are free now,Higher than a Georgia Pine, Sir!
I had the fortune to see Jerry back in 1979 with the same band. They were unreal. In my opinion the best band he's ever had. Paul Cook is an amazing drummer. Being a drummer myself I used to wear out the Jerry Reed Live "Hot Stuff" LP just listening to Paul's great drumming. I wish I could get in touch with him somehow. I hope Jerry the best. I've read is health is not to well. As a musician myself, Jerry's music has and still is inspiring to me. He is one of the greatest guitar players ever!
yeah man, i've been hooked since the Smokey film...i like the faster upbeat tunes of his. What albums would you recamend of his, I just listened to Smell the flowers and it was a bit too slow and dark.
He used to live a town over from where I live now

Jerry Reed had one of the tightest, talented bands out on the road at the time...I wish I would have been old enough at the time to have seen them.
