We DO have great songwriters and musicians today. This is one of the best albums of all time, agreed but to say we don't have some very talented musicians today is a bit narrow minded. I'm not attacking you lol, just pointing out a fact. Don't listen to mainstream radio. Listen to some of the more obscure stations and go to independent record stores and you will find the great music of today.

This was the B-side of the first record I ever owned. "Story in Your Eyes" was Side A of the 45. That was 1975. I was 4! (Yeah, I have cool parents, LOL) Still some of my favorite music I ever owned.
Rev 20:9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
Rev 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Yes, a Garrard turntable in a wood cabinet with a tube amp, preamp, and tuner...like a 1961 Ampex !! @ChrysaorC I love this song. Heard it on a beach in Turkey and have been looking for it. I'm so happy I found it. I was wondering what the lyrics were about. The lyrics are great !
I am a Moodie Fan all the way ... since back way back when. This song, this whole album ... really takes my heart away. Thank you for posting this song. It means a lot.
I think this should be the new anthem for the internet. Especially the part about the beam of light filling your head. And remembering what good men said. Social media promotes democracy, when angry voices carry on the wind...it is prophetic.
I totally agree. I just got Every Good Boy Deserves Favor on Vinyl. I am so delighted to own such a classic. It is in mint condition. How lucky I am to have it.
Oriskany and others : I have to agree. This and all the other Moody Blues albums sound best on my Beogram turntable pumping through my two Bozac speakers from 1965. Heard it all on CD - doesn't compare. Analog rules. Sometimes an earlier technology represents the zenith in the solution of a problem : How to best reproduce the whole of an original series of sounds. Next - The Balance . . . .Sweet
You cannot possibly appreciate The Moodies without a decent turntable. Find a quiet place and listen to them without interruption. Vinyl is the only way to hear them, front to back.
@oriskany I agree,my memories of them on record are amazing and thrilling, they changed my young life, they opened my world to prog rock and great music in general.
@ddarkshark If by "magic ingredient" you mean the illegal stuff that God gave us to enjoy, sure. It does tend to bring one up close and personal with music, not to mention the tapestry on the wall and the intricacies of your own fingertips, and oh yeah, that heavy knock on the door. Which is why the last time I experienced it was on a coral atoll in the north central Pacific. :-)
@IYPITWL Noted and concur. Also, it doesn't hurt to have a 70s receiver/amp and maybe a couple of AR5 speakers to fully complement the intended sounds. Thanks.
@oriskany - you are absolutely correct. How many younger ones have spent the hours with the headphones on listening to this magnificent group of musicians?
The concept albums rank with the greatest music of all time in my opinion!
@Tull29 just let me hear some of that concept album music any old way you choose it s got to be concept music if you wanna dance with me [ but what was the first concept album freak out little duece coupe...
I bought the SACD copy of this album for about 10€ in the Amazon marketplace 2 years ago. The sound in 5.1 is really AWESOME. It has been done from the 70s Quadriphonic issues. I advice all of you to buy it in order to appreciate the greatness of the Moody Blues.
in a way I thouht he was singing of the return of christ in human form. blaa here I go. no but i heard god returns again but it will be in awful times for earth..(stars fall to the sea and to the ground)..epic song oh my gosh
Yes this is from the question of balance album. One of my favorite bands. They,.. Like Kansas, are quite prophetic in some of ther songs and lyrics. To me, this song seems to focus on the endtimes and the arrival of the Antchrist with the perilous thought of him arriving on earth! Maybe I'm wrong, but listen close to the lyrics.
It is all just a question of balance, hence the name of the alblum.Way ahead of their selves for the year the alblum was made. World's a mess, who knows what they saw or what they meant. But they are awesome, true artists
A guy I knew said he went on the road with them and was part of the equipment crew .. I said yeah sure whatever.. Two hours later I'm helping unload amps speakers etc. Even ..THE Mellotron..I'm lying I'm dyin' I planked a note on it..And got some looks. Stood behind Pinder behind the speaker column. Mellotron had all these tape loops..Very primitive..Never forget that night in 1971..The road mgrs. name was Jean Claire..Can't believe remember that..Good times back then..
how haven't i heard this masterpiece till today?
what a waste.. better now than never though, this is truly amazing

bless the minor chords, and those who know how to use them!
this song 'bothers' my wife (of 31 years)
This song makes me feel wonderful
Because... I AM, THIS MAN,
Another man is what you'll see,
Who looks like you and looks like me,
And yet somehow he will not feel the same,
His life caught up in misery, he doesn't think like you and me,
'Cause he can't see what you and I can see.

Timeless. Sadly, FM radio stations very rarely play this classic masterpiece nowadays.

A haunting melody and a great song that hardly ever gets played on classic rock stations anymore.

This could very well be the most depressing song I've ever heard.
