  • I worked for Decca records on quality contol (listening for flaws in the recording) and this was one of the records I listened toon the threshold label .To our childrens childrens children.. one fantastic record...

  • For as much as I enjoy the Moodies when Mike Pinder left so left much of the mystical.....

  • Seen these guys in the 70's at the Seattle Center, wow the Mellotron music was so impressive.

  • To Deansusky

We DO have great songwriters and musicians today. This is one of the best albums of all time, agreed but to say we don't have some very talented musicians today is a bit narrow minded. I'm not attacking you lol, just pointing out a fact. Don't listen to mainstream radio. Listen to some of the more obscure stations and go to independent record stores and you will find the great music of today.

    Radiohead.

    I Am Kloot.

    Beck/

The Fleet Foxes Helplessness Blues is a great album.

  • first time listening this song and ad its year 2012, music is great thanks moody blues...

  • The instrument is called a Mellotron, not an organ.

  • @Knfie7 Huzunluyuz istee

  • This was the B-side of the first record I ever owned. "Story in Your Eyes" was Side A of the 45. That was 1975. I was 4! (Yeah, I have cool parents, LOL) Still some of my favorite music I ever owned.

  • why should I comment the song tells truth itself...

  • Still have the sad, worn 45 rpm record of this: the "B" side of The Story in Your Eyes.

  • This is such a good album, from start to finish, and Justin Hayward's guitar has never been better...

  • I'm a melancholy man, that's what I am

  • məncə bu versiya daha yaxşıdı ♥

  • 60-70's Moodies, always big feelings!

  • @vicpur "How is it we are here" from Question of Balance

  • @vicpur That's the song titled "How is it we are here?"

  • @vicpur the song your searching for is called " how is it , we are here " !

  • am i the only one but looking at the picture in the video, everythings slowly moving around!

  • @MsPinkFloyd10 No not at all! I was just thinking that this song makes me feel drugged. I usually get that feeling only on Pink Floyd :D

  • dobry utwór

  • That's correct 100%,i have all the records(Vinyl),but never pay atention to them,up till had my heart attak, and now they make a lot of sence.

    Thank you.

    Danny

  • That's so true but you still had to turn the album over but it was an automatic response so the effort was unnoticed or one was to stoned to realize

  • amazing...

  • Calms me down everytime<3

  • The whole surrounds me and i think i understand...great score! M-B 4 Eva!

  • Yes, a Garrard turntable in a wood cabinet with a tube amp, preamp, and tuner...like a 1961 Ampex !! When I play this song for my friends, they won't let me stop playing records and I have a couple thousand records, all sixties and seventies. You have to create your own piece of heaven, and no video games don't do the trick !!

  • @nehouma i found 2 garrrad turntables in the garbage and they worked they are indestructable they could survive a nuclear blast like ray thomas said somebody exploded an h bomb today but it wasnt anybody i knew

  • oriskany, aren't you glad direct drive turntables came out before they quit? I have a Technics -1300 still playing in 2011.

  • Genius. I think is the best composition of that amazing band :)

  • So sad that we do not have song writers and musicians like we had ,,wish good musicians ,,from the past could ..come again

  • this is song is so powerful...so sad..so haunting...just amazing!!!!

  • As a 16 years old young man, without knowing english, I simply was fascinated by this song ...

For 30 years I have been looking for it ...

Until one day, by accident, I found it on the Internet ...

    Today ...

    Almost 40 years later ...

    Trapped in an illusion ...

    Speaking English ...

I understand why I was so fascinated by this song ...

    Fate? ...

  • @LEVDOM You could have used Midomi! OOOO THE PAIN! :(((

  • @LEVDOM no....

  • `question of balance`. no man, there`s no balance in this song. it`s just killing.

  • was lucky enough to see them live (just once).Magic.please keep touring

  • LIVE IS BEST !!!

  • @jbeng1953 - heard plenty of 'live' - NONE approached the quality of a good studio recording. Plus I hate a crowd! A melancholy man is alone in a crowd, and I am a melancholy man.

Just my opinion, but you are wecome to it.

  • -Naber? -Standart.

  • when i was still get that rly stoned out feeling from weed i would listen to the moody blues hours upon hours and now their boring for me, i listened to way to many song over and over :) good time, now 2 years later the Album Infinite Arms by Band of Horses is my favorite

  • @ImmortaLTech1423 WHO CARES? i'm glad i don't know you!

  • @iluvargento

it means 'Hi audiene, have we slept before?' This phrase was used by 2 famous radio programmer in late 90's in Turkey. Their program was named Kaybedenler Kulubü (losers club) and recently it was filmed

  • @ChrysaorC I love this song. Heard it on a beach in Turkey and have been looking for it. I'm so happy I found it. I was wondering what the lyrics were about. The lyrics are great !

  • @ChrysaorC Siz kimsıniz?

  • I love the Moody Blues, but especially this song, it is so haunting and takes you far away, I still have this album

  • @tj123410 paul mauriat did a version of this song on an MOR pop album

  • one of the best

  • Always an awesome song & album.

my high school days & way beyond......

  • Wow

  • I died a slow painless death to this song.

  • So!

  • Great!

  • Melancholy Man takes me back to my teenage years and I am immersed in feeling as if I am really reliving some touching moments in my life

  • I am a Moodie Fan all the way ... since back way back when. This song, this whole album ... really takes my heart away. Thank you for posting this song. It means a lot.

  • memories oh the memories. Life is more mystical than punching keys on a cell phone. Sometimes I think we forgot how to dream and reflect on life.

  • I think this should be the new anthem for the internet. Especially the part about the beam of light filling your head. And remembering what good men said. Social media promotes democracy, when angry voices carry on the wind...it is prophetic.

  • all the obsession, art, insanity and beauty that we all hold in a single deep thought is processed in this song

  • I totally agree. I just got Every Good Boy Deserves Favor on Vinyl. I am so delighted to own such a classic. It is in mint condition. How lucky I am to have it.

  • @cindy91365 Play it and then play it more, listen to the truth.

For we will all be gone soon.

  • im a melancholy man..i still drink jack..i dont need nothing..

  • EPIC

  • Oriskany and others : I have to agree. This and all the other Moody Blues albums sound best on my Beogram turntable pumping through my two Bozac speakers from 1965. Heard it all on CD - doesn't compare. Analog rules. Sometimes an earlier technology represents the zenith in the solution of a problem : How to best reproduce the whole of an original series of sounds. Next - The Balance . . . .Sweet

  • this song just wins so much

  • This song touches the deep place.

  • je partage avec toi .

    Ton gentil poète .

  • This song makes me sad in good way..

    Extraordinaire!

  • Very nice:)

  • the 4 people who disliked this video are melancholy

  • yep it's a good alblum lol!

  • You cannot possibly appreciate The Moodies without a decent turntable. Find a quiet place and listen to them without interruption. Vinyl is the only way to hear them, front to back.

  • @oriskany I agree,my memories of them on record are amazing and thrilling, they changed my young life, they opened my world to prog rock and great music in general.

  • @oriskany everything you say is true...and yet you left out the magic ingredient.WHY??????????????????

  • @ddarkshark If by "magic ingredient" you mean the illegal stuff that God gave us to enjoy, sure. It does tend to bring one up close and personal with music, not to mention the tapestry on the wall and the intricacies of your own fingertips, and oh yeah, that heavy knock on the door. Which is why the last time I experienced it was on a coral atoll in the north central Pacific. :-)

  • @oriskany Vinyl is better because digital, no matter how good the quality, is just straight lines. Analog is a smooth waveform.

  • @IYPITWL - actually, you can not hear 'digital' !

Digital is a means of storage. Only!

When digital STORAGE is played, there must be a digital to analog/analog to digital converter.

    That is what you hear.

But, of course, vinyl sounds best, :O)

  • @IYPITWL Noted and concur. Also, it doesn't hurt to have a 70s receiver/amp and maybe a couple of AR5 speakers to fully complement the intended sounds. Thanks.

  • @oriskany thats exactly how i feel about these guys from the very first album ive really liked the music and lyrics

  • @oriskany That and some proper psychedelics and good headphones.

  • @oriskany - you are absolutely correct. How many younger ones have spent the hours with the headphones on listening to this magnificent group of musicians?

The concept albums rank with the greatest music of all time in my opinion!

  • @Tull29 just let me hear some of that concept album music any old way you choose it s got to be concept music if you wanna dance with me [ but what was the first concept album freak out little duece coupe...

  • is wonderfull song,is very important for me

  • I bought the SACD copy of this album for about 10€ in the Amazon marketplace 2 years ago. The sound in 5.1 is really AWESOME. It has been done from the 70s Quadriphonic issues. I advice all of you to buy it in order to appreciate the greatness of the Moody Blues.

  • Am loving listening to the tracks that Mike Pinder wrote

  • bless the minor chords, and those who know how to use them!

this song 'bothers' my wife (of 31 years)

This song makes me feel wonderful

    Because... I AM, THIS MAN,

Another man is what you'll see,

Who looks like you and looks like me,

And yet somehow he will not feel the same,

His life caught up in misery, he doesn't think like you and me,

'Cause he can't see what you and I can see.

  • now we are entering a new world!

  • in a way I thouht he was singing of the return of christ in human form. blaa here I go. no but i heard god returns again but it will be in awful times for earth..(stars fall to the sea and to the ground)..epic song oh my gosh

  • epic...

  • good stuff with this song... i think its about gettin smashed by a meteor and going to heaven lol

  • Yes this is from the question of balance album. One of my favorite bands. They,.. Like Kansas, are quite prophetic in some of ther songs and lyrics. To me, this song seems to focus on the endtimes and the arrival of the Antchrist with the perilous thought of him arriving on earth! Maybe I'm wrong, but listen close to the lyrics.

  • This song is depressing !

    Oh !

  • It is all just a question of balance, hence the name of the alblum.Way ahead of their selves for the year the alblum was made. World's a mess, who knows what they saw or what they meant. But they are awesome, true artists

  • Theirs were some of the most brilliant songs ever!

  • ah Michael -- love your soul brother -- that we are going to keep growing, wait and see -- when all the stars are falling down ...

  • This song is how I feel a lot of the time.

  • Great Song ... I wore out this album growing up.

  • I love this moody song - hey, it's by a moody band ! That works ! :)

  • as good as the music is - and it's unforgettable, timeless - i think i must've spent several years of my youth simply staring at the cover! :D

  • fuuuck this is sweeet, makes me think of my friends always caught up in some form of misery :/

  • A guy I knew said he went on the road with them and was part of the equipment crew .. I said yeah sure whatever.. Two hours later I'm helping unload amps speakers etc. Even ..THE Mellotron..I'm lying I'm dyin' I planked a note on it..And got some looks. Stood behind Pinder behind the speaker column. Mellotron had all these tape loops..Very primitive..Never forget that night in 1971..The road mgrs. name was Jean Claire..Can't believe remember that..Good times back then..

  • Timeless. Sadly, FM radio stations very rarely play this classic masterpiece nowadays.

  • A haunting melody and a great song that hardly ever gets played on classic rock stations anymore.

  • This could very well be the most depressing song I've ever heard.

  • @ThatUJohnWayne

Depressing is living without music like this

  • So melancholy, so beautiful
