  • The line Jeremiah was a bullfrog was actually just a temporary lyric that was to be replaced as soon as songwriter Hoyt Axton could think of something better. However, the song was demo'd before he could change it and so it never changed. The song then was extracted from a collection of children songs in a play Hoyt was trying to get the big three TV networks to buy, but they didn't bite. Three Dog Night did and are they ever glad they did.
