There's water at the poles, and supposidly ground water. plus when teraforming a certain area oxygen levels theoreticly should slowy start increasing. So in the future with basic terriforming tech, our space-housing tech we have now (furthuer improved in the future) and getting water from wells and the poles = Outposts on mars.

we are in a relatively quiet part of the universe. think of it as one of tho secluded neighberhoods you drive through where the houses are far apart. thats an example of where the milky way is. there is a giant, lets call it new york, of galaxies. millions of gallaxies clustered together, and alot more stray black holes for that matter

actually our sun is too small to go supernova. It will expand exponentially and become a red giant. Mercury and Venus will be consumed by this expansion and earth will most likely be as well (the alternative is Earth turns into a new Mercury)

Unless I'm mistaken, evidence points toward Mars having been warmer and having contained liquid water at some point - should some extremophiles have landed there when that was the case, their offspring might be alive (or hibernating) today. There's really no telling what's enough oxygen and water for an extermophile, that isn't necessarily even carbon-based.

Nothing, however, points to there being or having been macroscopic animals. :)

Mars however is a small planet, and there's more sun to cover it's whole terrain.... like... if you had cup of water, and another cup of water that was 3 times as large, which would heat up faster?

Plants need a fair amount of water, sunlight, soil, the right temperature and carbon dioxide. Different species of plants require different temperature range, water amount and sunlight amount. Mars have temperature extremes, very little atmosphere, very little to none water and no organic soil. Although most of its atmosphere is carbon dioxide, plants can not live on Mars.

There is possibly liquid water on mars, there has been in the past. I doubt there is any flowing water, if there was it would most likely be something like underground lake. It's also possible the planet may be presently too cold to sustain liquid water.
