  • Ballast Cleaning Machine, or BCM. In Queensland, we were going to call ours the Ballast Undercutting Machine, until we realised what the acronym would be.

  • Obummer know about this stuff? If he finds out, he will have Eric Holder shut it down, so the Union can send in countless thousands of 'Gandys'. Got to fund those elections some way.

  • Cool machine. Thumbs up! :)

  • Pretty cool.

I wonder how they can tell when something breaks?

  • At first I thought the steam pipes was a man who had gone like "WUUUHHUUUU"

  • but will it blend?

  • damn what if this thing broke down!

  • ive never seen this before.

    where was this???

  • GESIEL VIEIRA MOURA

  • hah... it's an aold trasnformer

  • hah... it's an aold trasnformer

  • this would be interesting to see

  • I put a dime on the track infront of one of these and it derailed it. go figure.

  • I wonder how many little kids look at that thing and immediately know what they "wanne be when they grow up" !!

  • YOUR ALL GAY EVEN THE GAY GUY SAYS YOUR GAY!

  • Cool video. I want one for MY layout!

    ;)

  • that thing must put alot of people out off work

  • @trent3727 Yep. Good point.

Profits ahead of jobs. That's capitalism.

  • It's not long enough.

  • i bet it takes years to get a few miles of track at this rate...

  • @djcrazyjimmy and yet sadly it still seems faster then some road repairs that are only about a single mile long

  • @dragon411320 alot faster !

  • i just see one of this yesterday in Saginaw Tex

  • I was going to say, where's the brew cabin, then it rolled into view

  • The noisiest job in the world.

  • @braincrisp1 Drummer in a rock band.

  • Неведомая. Ёбаная.

  • IS DOC BROWN DRIVING THAT TRAIN?

  • @MrSkidmark999 No, Chuck Norris !

  • do they have any sleeping wagons ?

  • @kellogsnotavailable yes they make them, just a regular sleeper with more sound proofing and a tiny kitchen and dining area painted up in the loram colors.

having lived down hwy 55 from this company i can tell you they do not sell many sleepers but always have 5-6 cars in stock at their yard waiting to be sold to what ever rail road in the world needs to buy or replace their fleet.

  • this is a shoulder cleaner. It picks up the ballast just outside the ties on both sides, runs the ballast through a cleaner, and redeposits the big pieces of blallast back outside the ties. The "spoils" or the small particles of mud etc, get spewed off the right of way through t he conveyor. Normally a ballast redump is required immediately as is a surface and line machine team. This is not as effective as a complete undercut but it is a patch in a pinch...which is how we run freight railroads.

  • To bad they didn't just paint it then it would be twice as exciting

  • I assume this is America? They have machines to do everything!

  • @ecoshiacom no, but japan does.....

  • somebody tell me what in the hell is this thing

  • Neat way to trim the ballast.

  • Chuck Norris uses this to shave his balls.

  • THIS was in MARION ILL . I took pix of it NEVER seen in action ! SCANNER MAN

  • Chuck Norris could do this job with his bare hands.

  • chuch norris's chainsaw

  • I'll buy it for my garden !

  • ...Ballast machine...I saw one operating here in Sacramento, Calif when the Trestle burned in 2007...I have pics and video of that big fire...maybe I put a video on here...

  • That's cool

  • What do you suppose that rig cost new?

  • I want one of those to drive to school every day and impress my friends.

  • This is a gravel re-layer. it scraps up the packed rocks on the side of the tracks, and then relays it so its not packed, so that water can travel though the rocks when it rains so they dont have wash away. so many comments trying to guess what this is.. Gosh....

  • The ballast is put down on the outside of the track on the shoulder and there are extra, you can't see, being deposited on the other side by a conveyor away from the track. Thx for looking

  • There are two wheels rotating same direction,if you look a little closer to the other side you will be able to see it. Thx for looking

  • Truly awesome...................but it's washing bits of rock at 100 yards per minute. Pressure washer, fixed to either side of trains might work! Is there another scooping wheel on the other side or is it turned around at the 'end of the line' to do the other side of the track?

  • So, this cleans the ballast, so it will drain properly and not collect water between the ties and rails? Is that all it does or does it pick up the ballast that has spread out and drop it back closer to the track? Does it drop some of it along the center ties, or just the shoulder?

  • Ya just a shoulder cleaner not a true undercutter

  • They clean the ballast for drainage purposes from rain, snow, dirt, etc.

  • I dpn't know what it is, but it's cool!

  • connect it witch rotary snow plow and destroy the universe :)

  • Is this, perpetual motion?

  • i was hoping it would chew through that road

  • why in the world do they need to clean the ballast?

  • What does it do? What does it do?

  • @oneyelucky Anything it wants to. ;-)

  • @Jackle61 Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah?

  • decepticon

  • ok.add this to why trains are FREAKIN' AWESOME!!!!!!

  • This must be the only machine in the whole world that can do simply everything!

  • You're right. That was awesome.

  • tout ça pour étaler du concassé ?????????

  • you spelled awesome* wrong just saying. but good video

  • awesome machine

  • Dear Santa: Forget the videogames, new dog and The Daisy Redryder carbine with a compass in the stock..... I WANT THIS THING!

  • ЩОМ _ щебнеочистительная машина

  • as crazy as this is , i just drove about a thousand miles threw the country and saw alot of tracks, the whole time i wondered how they managed the rocks, and kept them so neatly piled

  • What ever we do do not tell it that you dont like Railroads or that thing will come alive and kill us all

  • What does it do excatly?

  • @ishtech101 It's a ballast cleaner, it takes up the old ballast and replaces it with new.

  • Why it didn't eat that silly level crossing?

  • but does it blend?

  • @MrM1A1X

That thing looks like it will blend us ;o

  • Years ago a guy when I was working on British Rail fell in a bucket under cutter made a terrible mess of him

  • it's pointless to have just the ballast cleanes. waste of money. so it undercuts. may as well get the whole thing, right?

  • If this is a transformer...were dead... >.>

  • @BTCRAIL101FILMS No... not dead... it won't even give us the time to die :P

  • @AstaLawl True...

  • @BTCRAIL101FILMS Someone send this clip to Spielberg.

  • This is so NOT an under-cutter, this is a shoulder ballast cleaner, hence the name SBC and then the machine number. I work on the first of the new loram track-lifter under-cutter. These machines are the new TLU series. google LMIX 435 you will see that it is listed as an under-cutter. Loram also has the KLM series machines that undercut. good luck finding and filming one of the klm or the tlu machines.

  • @DarkDeucer I spent two summers working on the KM750 for Loram. Fun stuff, awesome machines

  • @DarkDeucer what the fuck are u talking about?!??!??!?!?!?!?

  • @DarkDeucer you're a NERD!

  • acctually its a loram ballast cleaner

  • get to see this in action soon, its an undercutter

  • Now that is a proper fuel tank.

  • If too much dirt, coal dust, grain, sand, and other things get in the ballast, then it won't drain. Water will collect just under the track. In northern climates this can freeze, expand, and do damage to the track. It can also lead to ties having large gaps under them, where trains will rock like crazy, possibly derailing.

Certainly a vital piece of railroad machinery.

  • Guys this is a LORAM Undercutter.

  • cuz it was dirty. nobody likes a dirty ballast...

  • Why do we clean the ballast? What is the point?

  • This is indeed a Ballast cleaner...

  • I think this is the LORAM Ballast Cleaner, but I'm not 100% sure..

  • I think this in the LORAM Ballast Cleaner, but I'm not 100% sure..
