When my friend was steeplechasing the horse fell head first and the jockey fell a horse ran over the jockey and he was killed and the horse broke his neck and was destroyed :(
strange how most of the people who defend horse jumping work in it? id say 90% hate it, because its cruel and the 10% that dont work in it, wonder why?
Steeplechase in animal abuse/cruelty. And don´t say it´s just like normal galopp racing just with obstacles, this jumping and these long distances are why it´s cruelty. It´s highly dangerous for the horses to jump in highspeed over an obstacle, most of them were not breed for jumping, only for the speed. Just imagine how hard they must land. And seriously, there are way more "accidents" by steeplechase then galopp racing. They aren´t accidents anymore, they are normal.
we don't seem to have as many horses injured in show jumping, is it the nature of the jumps, or that the horses are trying to jump in such a tight pack, or something else that causes such an increased rate of injuries and deaths?
Please get the real facts from actual people who work with horses before you throw stones. Impossible for a 110 person to make a 1100 pound horse to do anything they doen't want to do....
would u lot just fuck off making these videos! if u dont work in racing u have no idea how well we look after our horses! 370 dead in 1year is a bloody small percentage when u consider how many tens of thousands of horses race in the uk each year! go fuck yourselfs!
Horse do jump naturally yes but being whipped going full bolt at high almost solid jumps is a big disaster waiting to happen. Whilst horses love to run and jump, it isn't fun for them when they lay on the ground in agonising pain. Whilst and Ambulance is right behind them next to the track, the horses are still injured and are very rarely able to run again.
@funkycheezegirl Jumping with horses in any way is not natural. Wild horses don´t jump over obstacles, they run around it. You can even see this behavior when a show jumping horse is outside. Well, at least I did. ;)
@Rimfaxe96 That actually isn't fully correct. Imagine a large herd of wild horses running at full speed and there is a log in the way. The ones in the middle may not get enough time move around so they jump. Horse do jump naturally in the wild just not extensively high jumps like show jumping and everything. I have seen horses shy away from jumps before and then the riders whip them and everything. If it was a small log or pile of a small pile of hay bales I am sure the horse would jump easily.
People need to do the 3,000 meter steeplechase on the track themselves with their own legs. Having a horse race for them is animal cruelty. That's messed up!!! Horses do not need to die for this reason.
@JaredReyes perople need to do a 3,000 meter run on there 2 legs with a person on them jumping how do you like it it's not fun for horses its fun for perple but thing about the horses first
I love a bet and its as simple as that. I hate to see horses getting seriously injured or killed but unless there is a total ban then people ,like me, will bet.
I backed behrajan at 0.58-1.01 and it was pure jockey error cos the horse was legless and should have been pulled up before jumping. Your video is disturbing but futile in the long run of things and I do not mean that in a nasty way.
nyzbii and shley0804, u dont know what the fuck u are talkin about, horses get better looked after than the lads that look after them ect, and the jockeys who ride them, believe it or not, have brains and do think about the horse they are riding, they are not wreckless, i would know as i am a jockey and my dad is a trainer, get your facts right before u make pathetic videos giving the wrong idea af this sport to the general public!!
yes its sad when a horse doies, but its also sad when someone dies in a motoring accident, or gets murdered. remember that while racehorses are alive they get 5* treatment, and they just love to race! you know when you go out riding with some friends, and the horses get "fizzy" and want to gallop? its in there blood. when a horse escapes from his stable he does not walk, but run. these horses get a great life- socoialising and galloping. at least they dont get crappy kids kicking them all day!!
Racing at "break neck" speed is not smart. No one just has simple fun races in their back yard. Its all commercialized, high end arrangements. What I find ironic is that these horses have top notch care but the idiots who started these events put the horse into a deadly game that bets on their life. I'd rather see a poorly tacked horse run a simple lope over easy jumps then this. This is sport for money. Nothing less. Cantering and jumping are fine but up to a point. Be safe not stupid.
accidents happen, but at least they don't save the horses and keep them alive with broken legs. what kind of life is that? nice video, but it's not cruelty. at least they put the horses out of their misery.
i dont think its counts as cruelty, they are just accidents. these horses enjoy what they do. its like people dieing in road accidents which is around 2,600 people per year just in the UK
This is terrible. The horses doesn't deserve this pain. A waste of good friends..

@funkycheezegirl True; but they wouldn´t jump over so hihg obstacles like in steeplechase. They would just slow down and trot around it.
