There's a kind of conversational quality to the way Wunderlich sings his lines in the first bit that I find very nice--natural. The aria is, of course, absolutely breathtaking. Could he do ANYTHING wrong?!
Yes Wundelich was the greatest lyric german tenor of his or all time and Schmidt was a fine lyric but he was only five feet ten so mostly sang concerts and movies as a lyric tenor.
Joseph Schmidt was less than 5 feet according to what I've read. If he was 5 feet ten (about 177 cm), he'd have been frequently on operatic stages for sure.
Dieses Sangeskunstwerk ist Maßstab für viele andere Duett's. Wunder..bar!

Oh...!! my God!! Amazing voice. Wunderlich is very softly and brightness. Frick is so soft voice, but comical.

Zwei Große ihres Fachs haben mit dieser Darbietung eine große Herausforderung für alle Künstler nach ihnen geschaffen. Unvergesslich wunderbar.

Although I'm used to Prodaná nevěsta in Czech, with Peter Dvorský, this is wonderful - as anything where one can hear Fritz Wunderlich.

Two of the most sumptuous voices of their type and singing together - magic!

Indeed! =D
BTW do you have any knowledge of what became of his children? I'd imagine they'd probably still be living... and his wife?

Smettanas "Verkaufte Braut" ist in der Uraufführung in deutscher Sprache und das Libretto ursprünglich in deutscher Sprache.

Wonderful! I prefer this to the Frick-Schock version. What a loss Wunderlich's early death was to German opera.

I haven't heard that version. Schock was a great tenor, but for me Wunderlich was the greatest German lyric tenor.
