For $2200 you can get a 27" iMac, its an all in one aluminum design with a screen that isn't even comparable to any PC screens you can buy separate. Besides that you still have to run windows 7 which is miles behind OS X and not even close to comparable. If you really wanted to run windows you can run it natively or side by side with OS X, you can't do that with a PC.

You're doing it wrong then, maybe windows ins't for everone, but viruses and other malicious scripts are a thing of the past for me. If you have a half decent anti virus and use some common sense then you shouldn't get viruses in the first place.

Fragmentation on windows sucks donkey cocks though, there's no reason why they couldn't implement an Ext* filesystem.

Also backups are optional and fall into the common sense category.

I don't know what the problem is maybe I am pushing it to hard, as I do windows. but I concur my mac is a piece of shit. the only thing good about it was when it was replaced by my custom pc in 2006. intel macs may have better performance, but every time I had used one, the thing would crash when I copying data from an external hard drive, playing starcraft, torrents, and web browsing would crashed finder. I gave a 2008 imac kernel panic by using photoshop cs2 using vanishing point.

the only thing that I can guess what the hell is wrong with this macs, are that there is a high chance a mac will crash when I use it, or rosetta emulator crashes alot, or my experience is what a typical mac user gets while using photoshop, and multitasking. I guess hopefully its decent when snow leopard comes out, because every mac I have used from system 7 to mac osx leopard crash more from my experiences compared to windows 95-windows 7.(microsoft bob excluded)

Yes, I would like to know. Is it because I like both Macs and PC or because I think Google is going to make a OS sooner or later? Microsoft and Apple have been around for a long time. Sooner or later you will be able to put OSX "or w/e comes next" on a custom PC which would send a lot of people of to OSX. If Windows 7 fails, windows is gone. I don't think PC OEMs would nerf their buyers for 4-5 more years. Why wouldn't Google get in on the pie? Theres a lot of money in it.

First of all, Mac will never make an operating system that works on "custom PCs". That's the only reason they're holding up, it's their philosophy because they don't have to worry much about drivers and compatibility like Microsoft does. 2nd, explain "fail". I doubt Windows 7 will fail. It's just a matter of time before HP, Dell, etc switch to it. And last, Google can't just "hop on the OS boat". Do you have any idea how long it takes to refine and operating system?

Well my guess would be that she is one of those people that screws up Windows by turning it on because it has way too many settings and options, whereas a Mac has just one setup and you have to work with it, in which case that might be better for some people. I've personally used many photos and other external devices that I transferred files from and never had a problem.

Opposite for me, kernel panics doing simple tasks, such as copying music and using firefox at the same time on a intel mac, hard drive breaking on a powerbook g4 for copying files to an external hard drive. I don't hate macs other than they are overpriced. I have been using macs for a long time and fixed a powerbook and in the process of fixing a old g3 using scrap parts from old computers. I don't think macs bad just too expensive for what you get. dell/hp is the worst imo. I have a theory that they want to keep the market share and overprice there hardware for max profit while not having dealing with viruses and security exploits. The most superior os is linux but the problem is the learning curve for most people. I like to build computers

An OS does not always need a new UI to be great man, look at Windows 95 up to 2000, the UI stayed the same and Windows 2000 was an amazing OS, probably some of the finest work ever to come out of Microsoft.

osx 10.6 is all about performance. you will see performance increases in todays processors. support for multicore processors with Grand Central, a new set of built-in technologies that makes all of Mac OS X Server multicore aware and optimizes it for allocating tasks across multiple cores and processors. Snow leopard also uses your ram more efficient. Snow leopard is going to out perform windows 7. windows 7 is just vista with a few new add ons, its not going to stand close to snow leopard

It may be because Linux is not a big market compared to Windows and OS X. Im not saying there are not enough users actually USING Linux, im just saying there is not enough to justify devoting a version of Adobe Creative Suite too or many of the popular Windows Games.

Development of software is not cheap pending on the software, and if you want to earn a profit, you need to sell in the markets where you KNOW profit will be had, i.e the largest user bases.

BULLSHIT dude, Apple has a shake version for linux. AE products are so popular there is no excuse for it. they are cross platform, mac apps isnt so they have 3 times the user base. They could just like they could of done 64bit PS for the mac or maya making a decent mc version. With all there money there is no excuses why they have a shotty version of anything.
