He wasn't just a singer who could swing an axe, he was a music maker, a mood creator. a magician, creating rather than copying. It's not that he played the guitar well or even the best, as there are those who may be gifted enough to reproduce the cord progressions and notes he used but they can't do what he did. He brought the axe to life and chopping at the status quo, the daily grind of jazz, blues or rock, made it express what he felt in his soul.
Glad to see many many submissions of live (audio) concerts posted on YT now. Most of these are NOT owned by the so-called "big wigs". Therefore folks like "Janie" can't have these pulled! She literally stole so many of the royalties from close Jimi family members like his father and brother Leon.
Jesus ... I was AT that concert. There were two opening bands. The first was a Hendrix protege group called "Heir Apparent." And immediately before Hendrix took the stage, it was "Vanilla Fudge." If memory serves, the crowd asked "Vanilla Fudge" for an encore ... but did not do the same for Hendrix. In listening to the music, I think I can hear his lifestyle catching up with him (sigh). Great talent. Pity he died so young.
I WAS THERE!!!!!!!!!..THANKS FOR POSTING THIS..MAN WHAT MEMORIES....THANKS "FULMEILOVE"..THANKS ALOT!....

They pulled the plug on him, left him standing there in disbelief. No wonder he never came back to Portlandia.
