  • I love Neil..he is such a lyrical genius..an absolutely amazing and special man :)

  • brilliant!! just brilliant!!

  • i'm cry

  • If I could be one person it would be Neil but maybe a kinder gentler Neil (a nicer Neil since his near-death fling at 58) and w/o the epileptic falls on stage with Buf Springfield. You can hear what wonderful humor Neil has throughout but especially on Massey Hall concerts. Hope Neil never packs it in as he always picks me up.

  • awesome. just awesome. thanks for posting this

  • is this concert on DVD?

  • @MrPittsSox

    This concert is on DVD:

    Neil Young

    Hot summer nights in London

    Solo tour 1971

  • @Harmonica335

thanks. I love his solo stuff and this is my favorite version of this song.

  • Neil is awesome....and this is one of his best songs. I love how he is stoned out of his mind during this performance. : )

  • Think I'll pack it in and buy a pick-up - take it down to LA...

  • Yeah Neil, I think I will too.

  • I wish I had a sliver of Neil Young's talent. He is a living legend.

  • excellent ..excellent..love the way he plays and sings as if everyone there is an old freind and he is sharing a story of a memorable time he recalls..and how he smiles as the images rush back..

  • Start a brand new day. Oh yeah.

  • the woman i'm thinking of ,loved me all up.find a place to call my own and try to fix up. start a brand new day.

  • His talent still amazes me <3

  • i believe dylans brass bed line is years after this

  • Comment removed

  • stole the big brass bed line from dylan but then everybody stole from dylan.

NIEL YOUNG.................legend dont make them like this anymore.

ambient, true,REAL music.check him out on the last waltz.........quality. long live the harp.

  • awesome song...

  • não sei por q, esta canção me deixa melancólico, me faz lembrar de momentos tristes q passaram em minha vida.momentos q axei q estavam sepultados mais q a ouvir esta canção, percebo q estão bem vivos.

  • yeah but you dont go mad at a Neil Young acoustic show, you would just sit and listen.

  • One could enjoy music here.. Real music..

I wish I had been here...

  • He is a serious songsmith. Don't know if that's a word, but...

  • @cbrown8995 works for me

  • @cbrown8995 I think it's a word. And an apt one.

  • @cbrown8995 tunesmith :)

  • @cbrown8995 songsmith, that's a good word it fits & already has a meaning..

  • @cbrown8995 ...it is now :)

  • Damn what a song, just....damn.

  • tml1019 - I'm right with ya on that one!

  • I really want him to live forever too.. Always in my heart, every Song :-))))

  • Top tune....top guy as well :D

  • He is awesome, Did you catch him at the Winter Olympics closing Ceremony?

  • @brave49er16 oh yeah,I was just surfing through the channels at the moment, switched back to the Olympics, and heard a voice so reminiscent and known I couldn't believe it. Stole the show from everyone, can't remember what song he sang though..

  • Geschichte schlechthin, Neil Young ist einer der ganz großen, mit Harvest hat er einen Meilenstein geschaffen!!

  • I fuckin Love it Neil!!!

  • una delle prime che ho imparato alla chitarra 25 anni fa...harvest è il più bel disco di neil di sempre...lovely Neil

  • harp key of A

  • one of my favourite songs from him with "old man" and "miner of a heart of gold"

  • Holy crap. He was kinda cute, back in the day. I had no idea.

  • Bellissimo carlo giove!!!!

  • Amazing.

What an amazing Canadian artist, I can actually feel his music.

  • harmonica key??

  • All you need is one good man and a guitar.

  • This is basically "Unplugged" 20 years before it's time.

  • we've been "Unplugged" for thousands of years...it's only recently that we've become "Plugged"

  • umm bros were strumming acoustics before electrics nigga

  • What a voice, from they heart, unique!

  • C'est notre Toune Loulou

  • What about taking a look at Donkeyhospital (Not quite Crazy Horse)

  • Other commenters were right... He didn't mess up the verses; this performance was before he'd finalized the order of the verses. Love it. It's raw and real.

  • RAW AS FUCK

  • that was an eye opnener Thanks lol

  • i would pay anything to be here i love how the crowd is silent and listens ive seen videos of people who wont shutup when the persons singing or talking there all drunk and have no respect.

  • ALL Neil is Neil. Whatever comes out at the moment is just what it is. Dont overanalyse. He was probably BAKED. :)

  • Anything Neil Young is alright with me.

  • this is soul i can feel that so

  • Neil Young will never die...

  • the way he plays it on guitar suggests he meant to play it in this order.. grew up on this song, love it

  • Neil's music and words so much better than all the fucking

    new stuff...

  • dont know man pretty sure he starts on the right verse...here he starts with the chorus but the first verse is right

  • it's funny that he starts on the wrong verse, must have been nervous. still fucking awesome though obviously

  • this was performed before harvest was released, so he hadn't decided on the order of the verses properly. i don't think he was nervous, he'd been performing for quite a few years. awesome performance either way

  • @brucechrist even though someone has performed for years doesn't mean they still don't get nervous. Jerry Garcia got extremely nervous before every show he played, but when he started playing he just fell into it. but you are probably right about him not fulling having it arranged

  • This was recorded before Harvest came out anyway, so he might have just played it differently before he put it on an album.

  • @jambi880 he might not have completed the song yet either... there's a line missing after "...she makes me look up from her big brass bed...", he just hums through it...

  • That voice! That guitar! Those lyrics! I don't want it to end!

  • if i could pick one person to live forever i think it would be neil young

  • @tml1019 If I die before him I want him to come and play at the spreading of my ashes. If he can't come I guess I will have to due with just the music from the past. Maybe an old 45.

  • @tml1019 I agree with you. He is truly a beautiful person. Quiet, humble and so much fun. He suffered physically since he was a young boy, but nothing ever held him back. He is such a special person. He is just a love machine.

    Peace & Love

  • @tml1019 I'd pick Chuck Norris.

  • @tml1019

I think I'd pick Christopher Johnson McCandless

  • @Blocker1555 Yeah, I wonder if these words went thru his head, lying in the back of that old bus ......? Sad.

  • @tml1019 Thats a silly, dumb sentiment ---His music will, but if he continues to live his music will only get worse and worse and most redundant! Im sure he'd be real happy with you for makin him live forever! :)

I get what yer sayin though...Neil's brilliant!!!!!

  • @tml1019 what about Lennon and his peace message to the world?

  • @tml1019 thats great man. Smiling and laughing in complete agreement

  • omg so sweet the godfather of grunge and a whole generation. to come .. in 1971 !! amazing T.T

  • I saw Neil this year in Kansas City 09, he even made a remark to the crowd about their attitude. "Hey, Kansas City, what's the matter with you tonight? Lighten up man". To much booze, no respect and the crowd was the rudest bunch of jerks I have ever witnessed. Saw Neil so many times, as well as 100's of other concerts including PF, from Dark-Animals, its not like it use to be, then again people as a whole have digressed. Just watch the news. Forget the Queen....God save us from ourselves.

  • what was their behaviour? im not a big concert fan, so I havent been to very many

  • I saw him in Nottingham last year and he said we were scaring the shit out of him! I think it was the accent

  • " i think ill pack it in and buy a pick up, take it down to LA" ...awesome

  • One of the best lines ever written. Period. It might be a guy thing.

  • Man,notice the difference between then shows and nowadays. The people didn't came to drink and stuff, they're silent and they listen

  • interestingly that was picked up by Pink Floyd's conceptualization of their everchanging fans at concerts. So much so, The Wall was based on that concept. -See interviews with Roger Waters...

  • @Killbombr I bet Neil Young is drunk like shit

  • back then people weren't told or believed they were animals

  • @Killbombr Drinking and drug taking have been glorified over time. Moderation doesn't exist in this age!

  • @Killbombr they drank before.

  • @Killbombr That's a TV show.

  • @Killbombr Keep in mind this quite mellow music. I sure the hippies back in the day did their fair share of drinking and drug abuse while attending shows. Just depends on the atmosphere really.

  • @Killbombr that good sir is a generalization and therefore most likely inaccurate. Believe it or not young people these days are capable of respecting musicians as well.

  • @Killbombr cuz back then they got sotned and sat backa appreciated the music

  • @Jboneburnett Indeed. And that's what everybody should do

  • @Killbombr yeah, i guess people like neil had genuine talent and people were amazed and just stood there in awe....it was real not like the crap thats coming out these days..

  • tryyin to make it pay

  • see the lonely boy

  • fucking A

  • I love the way he strum :b

  • HEY,listen if you need to correct anything of this amazing song then keep it to yourself asshole. Please we would all appreciate it thanks :D

o yea you know Shut the FUCK UP ABOUT THE SONG! thanks :D

  • you are one dumb fuck

  • HA thanks man i apprciate that YOU MOTHER FUCKER GET A LIFE COCK SUCKER

now listen to the song you fucking bitch

  • lol. so ignorant

  • Why are you son angry and ribald? Thast's just his opininon. I think that you are the one who should shut the fuck up. And this is just MY opinion, I guess.

  • I must admit you're right

  • i feel this..

  • I have this concert on video, and it never ceases to amaze me how brilliant neil was in his early days+the almost annoying way he tunes up+down his guitar its so hard to follow, also if you ever get the chance to watch this concert look for the guy in the front who is HATING every second of neils genius........i so wish i was there...........evrytime neil makes a goofy comment i expect the guy to walk out its funny.

  • iamkentphil420,

I can see what you mean about Neil in the concert, but I also see Neil's behavior as more like a kid in a candy store attitude.

Also, what a waste of a great seat.

The guy obviously didn't get it.

    Peace.

    Rock

  • rotundamente bueno

  • Neil tuned the two E strings to D on a number of his songs.

  • Top song this one.............

  • one of the seven wonders

    thanks love

  • Great, absolutely mesmerizing. Thank you;)

  • I am forever greatfull for my dad introducing me to niels genius

  • im like you neil is on my blood now

  • Ohhhhh....his voice.....dreamy!

  • Does anybody know how to play the chords in the chorus like he does in this version?

  • not sure on these chords but i presume you know he didnt / maybe doesnt tune his guitar standardly - you can find something on here about how he tunes his guitar

  • Gotta love the neilster.
