  • Why have I never heard this track until today. Incredible vocal!

  • This is one of those songs that no matter who you are, when it's blaring, you'll feel like the coolest person on the planet.

  • yeah...this is tight and i aint no jove talking boy.

  • Agree with you all. I don't think that I can say anything about it that we all are already thinking.

  • Malone. Sigh.

  • What a fantastic song.

  • @510areac - we'll let you off that comment dude, you probably too young for the original.

  • Friggin excellent!!!!!!!!!!

  • how could anyone not like this record? off the scale

  • I like this but I like the Amerie cover better

  • @510areac do you want to fight about? dickhead

  • Sounds like Duffy, this is the reason because i don't found this song...

  • This is nice, but I prefer Curtis' version from the "Sweet Exorcist" album!!

  • fucking tune!

  • When I walked into über-hip bar Momo's in London's West End on 7th April 2010 , this is what the DJ was playing - 37 years after its release...cool or what? The track is central to Andrew Holleran's novel Dancer From The Dance and it was written by Curtis Mayfield. Classic!

  • @4bawbees Dancer From The Dance is the reason I looked this song up. I've loved the book for years and finally decided while currently rereading it to finally hear the song. I love this and it fits so well with my picture of the dancing at the Twelfth Floor.

  • @xxBriarthornxx Dancer sent you here too? what an unearthly novel that was! i first read it when i was 16, it completely shaped me as a gay man, too bad there isnt a scene like the 12th floor today, everyone's getting married, having kids and joining the army now! i wonder what Sutherland would say about the state of gay culture today

  • @xxBriarthornxx I looked up this song for the exact same reason! It's only the most beautiful fiction I've ever read.

  • Woot!

  • I have a CD with this song on it (Funk HIts) and ^^ Duffy does sound just like her!

  • Sounds like this is a rip-off from the 1971 Isaac Hayes tune and movie theme "Shaft".

  • i think it was wirtten by curtis mayfield

  • Great tune, real soul!

  • That is a rockin' beat, I found my theme sound :-)

  • Duffy..eat your heart out
