I think at the time I wanted to the same, but if I did it again now, with the skills I have now, I really think it'd be one of the most engaging and immersive quests.
Oh btw: you missed the bit reviewing SitW about how Jagex apparently forgot about the penguin involvement with the slugs (which in my imagination is hilarious, since on top of penguins being set back in their recon by you telling them that they can fly, they now have a former sub captain captive with what seems like schizophrenia). With the penguin line apparently getting involvement with dwarves, it'd seem that Jagex are going to have to get an extra-long pooper-scooper to sort this shit out.
I will let you know now that I could not watch this in one sitting. The reason for this is not because it's God awful, but because the pictures made me laugh too hard and my family is trying to watch a serious movie at the moment. Good job, Alex, you made my day.
i know what you mean asp..."PK all DAY" fags are the annoying spoiled 12 year old brats of our day and age....which leads me to a seasonably but fashionably late little memoir...'You better not shout, you better not cry, you better now pout i'm telling you why, you have a northface and an iphone you little shit'
I like that one song from One Piercing Note...uhh..Citherade Requiem? I think that's what it's called. I almost never listen to rs music, but I love that song and listen to it every now and then.
I actually downloaded Citharede Requiem, along with all the other One Piercing Note songs, and have them on my iPod. That's how much I fucking love that quest's music.
DRAKAN IS IMMUNE TO GARLIC, SILVER AND BLISTERWOOD. THE ONLY WAY TO DEFEAT HIM IS TO TICKLE HIM WITH A FEATHER TAKEN FROM THIS BLESSED BIRD WE JUST MADE UP THAT ONLY EXISTS IN ONE PLACE IN THE WORLD EVER.
Excellent. I will have to disagree with you on some of your thoughts SitW and EW4, but for the most part, excellent excellent excellent. Always very happy to see new videos from you. Keep 'em coming!
Well, as I said, this whole thing's all opinionated anyway. What did you think about SitW and EW4? I'd be happy to hear other people's opinions on them.
@Asparagoose All of SitW was terrible from beginning to end. Their forced comedy was just plain awful (and this is coming from someone who typically laughs out loud at jokes cracked in quest), the whole puzzle thing using all 4 characters was choppy and slow, and just plain frustrating to use. I don't think RuneScape was ready for something like that, and it absolutely murdered the story and climax.
@Asparagoose You kill one of Gielinor's largest 4000 year old threats by simply strolling behind her, and pushing a pillar. Terribly anticlimactic. We never even hear word from Tiffy, and the slug-penguin relation was ruined, by accident. How on earth could that have possibly been overlooked? I think the problem is, is that it was just rushed. It had SO much more potential than what it came out to be.
@Asparagoose That little sobstory about Lucy after you killed the Mother was actually quite touching, but still the only positive thing about the quest for me. Now, EW4. Personally, I love the series, as frustrating as the puzzles are. I'm not a fan of puzzles, but I really do like where this story is going, and I think it's very unique and quirky in a way.
@Asparagoose The robot is totally acceptable, I mean, even in ancient China they were beginning to build robots (albeit, extremely primitive), and RuneScape has freaking magic mixed in. Robots have got to be in there somewhere, and sort of emphasizes on how mortal races really do prosper without the influence of gods.
@Asparagoose When it comes to a quest, I'm all for the lore, not so much the content. The content can be absolute shit, but as long as the story is captivating and 'epic', I'm in. The content is just a bonus. And EW has got me hooked, gradually exploring an old lab of a now deceased possibly mad scientist. Of course, as you said, this is all opinionated and depends on your idea of what a quest should and should not be.
I absolutely agree with you about the lore - several quests I've liked have just been a bitch to play through, but they've been saved in my eyes because of the backstory. Some of the desert quests literally made me want to punch my screen in two, but I still enjoyed the majority of them because they gave me a bit of knowledge. I agree pretty much about SitW. I enjoyed it for what it was, but it could have been so much more, as you say.
@Asparagoose As for RotM, I absolutely loved it, except for a select few parts. The mahjarrat were extremely childish at some parts, I mean, they're over 12,000 years old, meant to be extremely intelligent, yet here's Enakhra whining like a little girl 'No it should be Akthanakos!" Sigh. And Sliske was just a huge disappointment. Ugh, I take RS lore a bit too seriously. But of course, these are all opinions and they depend on your perception of what the lore should really be like.
Ah, now you see, that's what I like about the Mahjarrat. They are childish. They're selfish. They're so old and so powerful and yet so flawed - like humans, really. They have all this potential and the majority of them do nothing with it but try to meet their own ends. Zemouregal spends all his time building up an army to try and take over a city for no conceivable reason. Enakhra still holds a 4000 year-old grudge after all this time. I find it very refreshing, having such flawed characters.
@Asparagoose Hmm. The way I see it, is that, they do these things because it is destruction and death and devastation and all of those other diabolical other D's that make the Mahjarrat tick. It's what drives them, I think. It's like their drug, it's all they want and need, which is why Zemouregal constantly tries to topple over Varrock, and which is why Enakhra and Akthanakos absolutely hate each other (probably because they like it, ooo, romantic twist maybe?)
@Asparagoose But when it comes to negotiating and debating, and making rational decisions, I think they should be complete geniuses. Totally sound of mind, I mean, Sliske the Serpent Tongued. I saw none of that, just a lunatic wanting to live another 500 years, and adding another collection to his toybox. Maybe that is the type of destruction that drives him, but... personally I'd like to think not. He should know that we, the hero, are in fact the key to bringing back his waifu, Zaros.
That is true, I suppose. Who knows, maybe the Mahjarrat are getting senile. I'd say that maybe now that there are fewer of them they find themselves less prone to debating and double-dealing, since they've all known each other so long, but you'd think they'd be even more careful now that there's so few of them, and each one faces the chance of being sacrificed.
WOW you really made a nice review here, and i also liked one piercing note, the sound was inconsistent in that quest but that does not bother me at all

Sorry for the comment spamming, but I'm so excited I CAN BARELY KEEP IT DOWN! YOU CAME BACK FOR US!
It all depended on your expectations, the majority overhyped ROTM on the forums, and I felt it to be a slight disappointment, whereas you found it to be the best because you had negative concern on it. So I still find Branches of Darkmeyer the best quest of 2011, it was just a fresh and kind of unexpected quest to occur, the city, the boss fights, the plot, it all was amazing, while Runescape was lacking in quality content at the time, along with the bots and scammers ruining the game.
Asp, serious question now. Do you still remember me? I'm that douchebag who chats with you on MSN!
What have I missed on Runescape? From this video I an see a lot has gone by. I enjoy the story of quests and things but... Well... It's just uninteresting to play. So can you bring me back up to date on the past however long I haven't been playing?
