my borther is in the same exact situation! this is appaling to me! he overdosed on heroin 8 mnths ago and they said he is in a vegetative state.we raised money to put him in a hypoberic chamber to bring dead brain cells back to life and he already has come a long way! He is not even technically in a vegetative state in my opinion now! we are also looking into even more treatments for him and we will NEVER give up! he is in there and he fights everyday.

BUT there was a case in the uk where a woman came out of PVS after eight years, and she had been aware all that time, despite being considered brain dead. She was far less active than this girl. We need to know more about these conditions. But whatever, starvation is not the answer-that's just inhumane. We treat animals better than that.

I would not want to live for 8 years, being aware of everything that is going on and completely unable to interact with the outside world. That is like hell on earth. A big problem is how the EMS and ER personnel try to resuscitate for way to long. People are down for over 10 mins w/out a patent airway and still resuscitate. Why? So they will end up like this?
