Military spending is about 10% of total GDP. It is welfare and medicare that make up the largest part of GDP spending. Most debt is owned by US residents which is more than 50%, they don't mention here that the US had similar debt to GDP before. I agree that cutting back is needed and people will have to be less lazy, more willing to do blue collar work instead of just chasing paper pushing white collar jobs. Retirement age might have to be raised. A 10 year project is needed to reduce debt

Military spending is about 10% of total GDP. It is welfare and medicare that make up the largest part of GDP spending. Most debt is owned by US residents which is more than 50%, they don't mention here that the US had similar debt to GDP before. I agree that cutting back is needed and people will have to be less lazy, more willing to do blue collar work instead of just chasing paper pushing white collar jobs. Retirement age might have to be raised. A 10 year project is needed to reduce debt

1) Cut subsidy spending, 800 billion per year
2) Cut foreign aid to countries that hate us, 40 billion per year
3) Cut the anti-maijuana Fed laws, 44 billion a year, and taxed maijuana, +500 billion per year
4) Restricted Medicare to senior citizens that were worth less than 2 million dollars, 300 billion a year.
We could solve all our financial problems and pay off the whole debt. Additionally, almost no one would object to such a budget change.

And US elites profited from and financed his regime. Also prior to WWI, he, along with the US, Mussolini, the Vatican and Jesuits in Spain all supported the extreme fascist General Franco. There was plenty for someone like him to be "inspired" by or from.

Right now our money is debt, it has to be borrowed into existence. There is no way to pay the debt off because there isn't enough money in circulation to account for the interest on this debt. Plus, how can you pay off debt with a debt instrument? The money changers of our time i.e. the Federal Reserve needs to be abolished. Why can't we have interest free money? That would be a start, eventually gold and silver will have to play a role if we want true economic liberty and security.

@mikecorbeil the $600 billion US military budget is just 4% of our total GDP of $14.4 trillion. That's barely significant, and would still put the USA at #1 by far even it were totally eliminated. If we didn't spend that $0.6 trillion on the military, we'd just be able to spend it somewhere else.

@tron81 That's close enough to what I thought, for adding the deficit makes the picture considerably worse and that's the sitaution we really have. But another part of the complete picture is that GDP is very bogus; it's not [real] gdp. A considerable amount of it is ghost, phantom, ... NOT real. Paul Craig Roberts wrote a number of articles of which copies were posted at different websites several years ago, 2003 and thereafter, about the bogus nature of US gdp, but others also wrote of this.

There's absolutely nothing that can justify militarism against the world or any part of it. The U.S. doesn't even have any real foreign enemies. Its enemies are all domestic. Israel has proven to be one, but most and the worst are domestic.

Don't believe it? Look at what the US did for Japan at the end of WWII. We could have kept control of that country, but instead helped them rebuild into a free market democracy that's very successful today.
