i am a 13 year old boy, been doing archery for 3 months and i find the sport great but like recurves more than compunds even tho compound is easyer in some waus but harder in others, the fact that people say its better all round is silly since even when you use sights, draw puller, stabaliser ect its still a pretty hard sport and these guys spent years training to get that good with any bow
Why do these "compound vs. recurve" and "traditional archery vs. modern archery" comments ALWAYS show up in archery videos?
Can't you people just watch the damn thing and keep your negative opinions to yourselves?!
They're DIFFERENT CATEGORIES damnit!!!! It's like comparing NASCAR to Formula 1 to Indy. They're all racing categories with cars... so why can you respect and understand the difference there and not in archery?!
To all of you who thinks modern bow takes the skill out of archery, you are wrong and I suggest you go find yourself a club and try it yourself.
Also everyone is using the same type of bow. Archery is a sport so its about competing against other people. Its not about what you can do with whatever bow but what you can do compare to other people who are using the same type of equipment.
There is too much in the modern Olympics that distracts from the individual...I would only see as much an extension of Man as is necessary. Imagine the ancient diskobolos: he is nude, alone--only the disc is foreign--the rest of his body the only machine, unaided by any device to ease his victory. What we view today is a farce.
Well would you give up your car or bike or house or toilet or TV or internet? Im sick of people like you coming onto my videos and just putting down what takes years of practice to achieve what these guys do!
Fuck all you trolls! your all banned from posting on my videos!
yeah i do know whaty real archery is about. its about skill and mastering a bow. not some thing thats rigged to go in the same place everytime. when they used to hunt with bows and kill birds, thats skill. and they didnt have all that shit hanging off. but look we have our opinions.
I don't think you actually do archery, but a lot of archers who hunt don't go primate and shoot some random longbows. They usually have the stabilizers and sights because they improve performance. Back then, hunters would shoot from ranges nearly point blank, because of the inaccuracy of their weapons as well as inadequate power.
im not saying hunters these days dont have these bows.although most have firearms. but in africa they still use primitive bows and shoot from range using poisoned arrows.
you stupid ass....shooting a modern recurve bow is not skill?I am an archer so i know...if i ask you to take out a fking fancy modern bow to shoot 70m and i give you 1 thousand arrows to shoot...if you can get a bulleyes out of the 1 thousand arrows....YOU MISS ALL......muahahaha...trust me....archery is harder than it looks...dont talk carp if you havent shoot arrows before-_-
errr....have you shoot an arrow b4?just wondering....did you say that you can achieve those skill in 1week?if archery is that easy...there wont be archery in olympics-_-...No skill?PPL who dont learn archery only say that...it look so simple...but as you trying to do it...its hard....Dont say that it doesnt required skill if you had not try out archery b4....To achieve those kind of skill...it took years of hardwork to achieve
archery is not shit....archery contains diffirent category like tradisional bow, modern recurve bow, compound bow and the list goes on.....-_-!if you want to be archery competition...you need to be in compound or recurve...
p.s.nowdays...ppl hunt animals mostly used compound bows-_-!
It's in the practice, and more in the bow than the form. The form is easy- stance is easy and you just need to hold your bow in a way so you don't get harmed. It's pretty simple- A sniper rifle with a scope and rifled muzzle will outperform a musket. Of course, similarly, practice makes perfect, to be a good bowman, you need to time your shots and release at just the right moment.
To be honest...competition archery is actually harder than tradisional bow...even if there is sight, damper ,etc...this modern archery is about mental toughness ,handling competitive pressure also...to master the archery form...it take you minimum 5years to master it...and some archers fail to even achieve the biomechanic archery form...also..some got stuck in obstacles such as target panic,etc....Archery look so simple but it is really hard when you try it
traditional had more skill...True...but i am not sure whether there is TRADITIONAL BOW COMPETITION.
This modern recurve bow may take out the skill but if you are in the Olympics....you must master your emotions....(super hard)..ppl who used tradisional bow doesn't need to learn things such as visualization anyway...There's no competition....only recreation or hobby
They drop the bow to hold the tension after the shot. They dont hold the bow with their hand, if just falls into a sling. The spining movement just happens because of weightdistibution.
if u get high end equipment, which can cost up to 1.6k - 2k ++, its probably expensive compared to getting a simple bowset.....after all, its ur preference =)
Lets see Hybrid3000 do that! Id like him to name another sport (outside of motor sports) where the equipment is so complex and intricate! Runners and ball games (football, rugby) have boots! Thats it.
Well, It is surely not really good the way he draw but...In a kinda way, he made a 10. And even tough, I know lot of people who draw like this when they know the arrow wouldn't go where they want. People who do this really know themselves and have an extreme trust of their bow. It needs a lot of practice to be sure like he was...
Eh? Wow, that was really weird what that guy (Barnes?) did with his bow arm after his release. But I guess we can't really say anything seeing as he hit a ten anyways. Just bloody weird-looking though. Anyone seen the clip of that one archer on the Ukrainian team who somehow cranes his neck around the string to anchor once he comes to full draw? Bloody-freakin' weird and hilarious too.
You suggesting Barnzy has an illegal draw? If so then look again. There is nothing wrong with his draw. The camera angle is desseeving. Also I was fortunate enough to meet and compete agaisnt him just as he was coming good. His draw is not high.
you competed with barnzy?? now that i see it again, i guess it is camera angle. even if it was a high draw i guess 70m is enough to let it sink enough. my bad!
Quelle belle compétition! Pas surprenant, avec les meilleurs archers

crazy technology or not, these guys are good. give 'em a recurve bow, and i guarantee they can still out-shoot any of us.

But the max range you'll see, even with a veteran hunter, will be about 20-30 feet for the kill.
