  • Why does everyone talk about them and they're influence like they're fucking dead? If the Pixies prove anything it's that you can be the coolest people around in 1990 and still be the coolest people around in 2012. Inspirational or what?!

  • Thom Yorke of Radiohead said this band changed his life. That says something about the kind of influence this band had on music

  • Holy shit, the harmonies the bassist sing are brilliant!!!

  • i see where Nirvana's Mrs. Butterworth came a little from.

  • 3 people don't have cool slacks, huh?

  • So much ass does this band kick!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this song is pure energy, I love it!!

  • Kim Deal and Frank Black sound so nice together...figures that they couldn't get along.

  • WOWW!~! Pixies always better in live!

  • So wish I could of seen this concert.....

  • Pixies has nothing to do with grunge, but grunge has everything to do with Pixies...

  • Pixies invented Husker Du and Replacements

  • @DrBojayHookah You're grossly misinformed

Husker Du and The Replacements were formed in '79.

Pixies in '86. All great bands!

  • listening to them is so gratifying.

  • They were doing THIS in 88'?? EPIC.

  • PIXIES STARTED GRUNGE AND ANYONE WHO THINKS IM WRONG NEEDS 2 GET LURNT

  • @newzealandrox9999 sorry, I think we should leave that to Nirvana. Pixies is more like Alternative music. so, Pixies did not create grunge, they created the ORIGINAL Alternative music. like......Alt. Punk.

  • @RandomVideos7818 Anything that is, was, or will be relatively good, has something to do with the Pixies.

  • @newzealandrox9999 Pixies never really had anything to do with grunge, except for the fact that grunge bands took the dynamics and style of the Pixies and applied it to grunge. Pixies basically invented alternative rock though.

  • @JUSTxINSANE lol your comment is hilarious. pixies have nothing to do with grunge= grunges dynamics and style are based on the pixies. excellent logic

  • @shamwoww i meant pixies were never directly involved with grunge. Grunge bands just took their dynamics and applied it to their own music. They indirectly affected grunge, yes.

  • @JUSTxINSANE you put that perfectly couldnt of explained it any clearer the pixies connection with grunge music

  • And to think, this stuff was out when guns n roses were at their peak........this sounds better than ever whilst G N R sound like the Spinal Tap mongoloids that they are!!

  • @leej70 OK why talk shit about GnR? its ok to like both bands. most people like a mix of music genres

  • @Alphabex8 so it's ok to talk about things you like but not about things you don't? what a narrow minded view

  • @leej70 you're smart

  • when did this take place, when this video was shot?

  • during the first verse when joey hits that sustained bend, how does he control the feedback to get those rising harmonics? they just keep going, its magical, i need to know

  • You buy me a soda and try and molest me in the parking lot.

  • sends shivers up t'spine

  • this is better in every way than the studio version. sucki mi sideways

  • your bone's gotta li'l machine!

  • this is still 30 years ahead of its time

  • coooool!!! I LOVE The Pixies!

  • i love the way the offbeat drums sound like a regular 4/4 beat at the start and then you're dragged back into the offbeat timing by the rest of the band. Would be interesting hearing the whole song with a regular 4/4 beat. Would be like the inverse of that Devo Satisfaction cover.

  • @thecrikster

Aghhh I'm still not sure what beat is supposed to be 1 and which is supposed to be 2. This song confuses me. I'm pretty sure you're supposed to follow the drums (the snare being on 2 and 4) but the way they play it, like where the accents on certain beats are and everything, don't follow that. And then at the end of the chorus when it's just vocals and bass I'm totally lost. What beat does that start on? Aghhhhh! XD

  • starts on first beat, but on the snare. just moved the beat to the right essentially!!! clever band. :-)

  • No kidding!

  • @shevendoves snare is on one and in the sode molestation part the snare is 1 and 3, but if you think about it, the 1 could be anywhere, but its only a matter of what is easy to comprehend when it comes to numbers involved in music. and letters for you notes, because a musical A is different from an english A, but its a trip to think about

  • bought me a soda and then tried to molest me in the parking lot.

  • you're so pretty when you're unfaithful to me.

  • OHh OHh ooHHo hhoHh o! Your's Bones got a little machiiiiine|

  • I could rock out to this all day.

  • this is, for sure, the best live pixies video around

  • septembre 1990 Palais des Sports Nantes

  • "Your bone's got a little machine"

The perfect little hook, and so simple too. It's gonna be in my head for some time.

And Joey never fail to show his guitar genius. Makes me wanna get a Les Paul! lol

  • Kim is on uppers there, right?

  • oh snap

  • I saw them october 18th... I was in a moshpit for the first time in 10 years. It was awesome ^^ Thank you, Pixies!

  • @KonradAdenauer And then you'd have a Broken face! Uh-huh, uh-huh, oooooh!

  • @MrAugust767 Best response ever!

  • @KonradAdenauer think indeed there's no better way to express the effect of this song

  • @KonradAdenauer i've just fallen off my chair laughing at this response!

  • I hope to see them one day in concert!

  • buy a ticket and see them then

  • im gonna see them the 25th of november

  • They're so much.

  • this is such an awesome song

  • Together again as in get some new material together...new album! I mean Kim in the Breeders and Frank Black/Black Francis on their own just don't cut it. Bluefinger is a good album from Francis...some real Pixieish stuff on there but without Kims base, Joeys guitar and Daves drums...it doesnt quite cut it. Not that they are trying to repeat the same sound individually, just personally think its a shame and a trajesty!

  • trajesty? do you mean tragedy? i don't think you mean travesty.

  • It's obviously a convenient timesaver for writing travesty and tragedy, for example IT IS A GODDAMN TRAJESTY THAT THE PIXIES WON'T COME TO NZ!

  • Sort of. Sonic Youth nurtured the scene and were big supporters of it. Sonically they were not a part of that scene. They were different. The only grunge band The Pixies inspired was Nirvana. They are more of a straight up alternative band although they have tons of variety in their music like nirvana. The Wipers started the grunge thing as well as others. I know too much about music to get into it right now but i will if required.

  • Nobody gives them credit? Dumb sentence brah. Nirvana, Radiohead, Pj Harvey to name a few. And Indie bands these days don't try to sound like Nirvana because they can't. Most of them suck ass.

  • They were the inspiration for the whole grunge scene man....with a few others around like Sonic Youth of course! But the Pixies are the true kick ass, in your face band. The only band I've ever heard and was totally blown away on first listening....sure wish they would get it together again!

  • they are together again, I think they played a show yesterday or today

  • The mouth of the Kim Deal is uncontrolled. Why is that? Hahaha...

    Roooock!!!

  • bass player is hot

  • You are funny.

  • You are quite correct, and a damn fine inspector, Inspector Musrache.

  • correction my friend she was hot she has sadly lost her appeal over the years, she was pretty good lookin though

  • @cnnre2005 first of all, why come watch a band that you don't like. second, pixes are the best.

  • Pixies are so underrated

  • Only by the Mainstream..Best like that.

  • @OfficerInfusion Hardly. By whom?

  • @OfficerInfusion The Pixies are not underrated. they are very rated by good music consumers, musicians and critics. They are one of the foundation stone and turning point in music history. they didn’t become big as U2 because of understandable reasons of their alternative sound and music. But still they made very nice way. The musical influence on musicians was Similar to was the velvet underground (but much more successful) starting from Kurt Cobain to Radiohead.

  • @spidf33

Damn, when I read the comment about the Pixies being underrated, I was going to to respond, had it all ready... until I read yours'... sums it quite nicely... ;-)

  • @spidf33 my fav song of all time

  • @OfficerInfusion over rated lol. They have some dopes songs though

  • This is so a song about my ex girlfriend

  • AMEN

  • Fucking A.

  • If i was jesus, and i said I was the holiest man on earth, would that be pretentious?

Its not pretentiousness if it's true

  • Black Francis rules

  • amen

  • AidanMella is rite i totally wacted the whole video on netflix

  • thats an odd looking bass kim is using what is it

  • A cheap Aria, surprisingly used for a long time even when the Pixies came into some fame.

  • Does anybody know if this whole show is on a DVD or anything?

  • Yes its complete on a DVD, it was released a couple of years back at reunion time..worth the cash!

  • Thanks mate

  • where can i download this whole performance from?

  • probably netflix

  • absolutely fucking amazing, what i would do to have been there

  • Talking of 'Rip Offs'. Has anyone heard Charmer by Kings of Leon?

  • Most modern "Indie" bands have ripped off/taken a LOT of influence from The Pixies....it just annoys me that no-body ever gives The Pixies the recgnition that they deserve

  • I don't think most modern indie bands have even HEARD of the Pixies... I'm assuming this because most modern indie bands suck and are just trying to be Nirvana.

The important thing is that Nirvana was ape-shit about giving the Pixies credit, and they're really the only Pixies inspired band that matters. :P

  • haha a lot of indie bands have heard of The Pixies

  • Radiohead have given the Pixies all the praise and recognition they deserve. They spoke about how they copied the Pixies style on the official documentary.

  • (This song was released before Tom Waits' Bone Machine, Champ.)

  • they are fucking perfect

  • They are perfect!

  • amazing, dude

  • Great Song Thanks!!!
