Pomona!! Gee you live in LA la land and this is not similar to crimes committed bunch of illegal Mexicans and other illegal immigrants in So. Cal??
@novajoke Yeah, we definitely aren't going to find common ground on this one. You approach the issue like this: foreigner causes problem, therefore foreigner must be bad. Because I grew up in a racially diverse community in the states (and went to high school with many wonderful people who also happened to be illegal immigrants) I see the issue as such: foreigners can't fit in, so what do we need to change to help them adjust? All my video says is that Japan should care about immigrant children.
First of all, I really appreciate your response :-) Yes you probably grew up in So. Cal so I can understand where you're coming from. Well this is simple.... Brazilians and other Gaijins in my country are committing serious crimes just like Mexicans and other immigrant losers back in the States. You should know better if you grew up in So. Cal. If these people did not commit serious crimes in my country, we the Japanese wouldn't be concerned at all..
Yes my peopel should care about these immigrants but what about ARE THEY DOING THEIR JOB SO THEY ASSIMILATE INTO JAPANESE SOCIETY??? Just like Mexicans AND OTHER IMMIGRANTS who come to your country and they treat education as some kind of daycare facilities so public schools have to provide ESL, FREE school lunches, after school daycare program, extra school supplies since most of them pop multiple children making minimum wage without any job skills nor education, etc. etc.
One more thing..... You are liberal in your country right? So robbing stores, stealing car nativation system, bringing drugs by hiding their desktop computers, hit and run incidents leaving innocent pedestrians for dead by Brazilians and other Gaijins in Japan are no big deal to you.... Yes no wonder California (aka MEXIfornia) and your country is going down the drain.... morally speaking.....
Yes I've seen it in So. Cal and all over West Coast with political correctness :-)
Thank you for your video but you are ignoring sad truth about series of crimes committed by Brazilians in my country. Also, committing series crimes are not helping thier cause either.

>If the Japanese says that it was a mistake when their ancestors moved to Brazil
You can't generalize a country like that. There are a lot of people in Japn and not every one of them think it was a mistake.
>I just wonder if they would say the same thing about their ancestors that moved to the USA. How about all the Japanese mixed with the Jews in the USA?
I don't get your point. Is there any problem with Jewish people?
>You can't be called Japanese when you have a surname Freitas
@farlyso If the Japanese says that it was a mistake when their ancestors moved to Brazil, , I just wonder if they would say the same thing about their ancestors that moved to the USA. How about all the Japanese mixed with the Jews in the USA? You can't be called Japanese when you have a surname Freitas. This guy would be considered Japanese only in Brazil. Yes, it does matter their ethnic background and how they preserved their ancestor's values.
You seem to believe some ethnic groups are better than others and miscegenation is a wrong thing. Sadly, this kind of beliefs were the cause of Nazism. People are not defined by their "races". Actually, there is no such thing as race.
@farlyso i think somehow race has an effect on how some people act. just like with dogs, different breeds have different temperaments. i think some race are inherently more capable of violence than others.
Stay home, build up your own country, it's possible in Brazil. Get rid of that low self esteem of "it's not possible in Brazil". Why live and work hard in a nation where they don't like you, but don't want to admit, and use you for their economy. What is possible in Japan, is also Possible in Brazil, with our without government help.
The Japanese government and people do not want to deal with the Brazilians. They see it as a accident, a mistake their relatives did in late 1800's and early 1900's. If the Japanese government could eject them out of the country by force or kill them all, they would do so.
Great video! I'm Brazilian half Japanese and I live in Japan.. and I kinda know the feeling of being considered Japanese in Brazil and Foreigner in Japan, I used to be a little confused about it when I was younger, I came to japan almost 10 years ago and I had to study at a Japanese school, it was really hard cause I didnt know anything except for some words my grandparents taught me, but now I have a lot of Jap,bra friends and we all get along,i think it all depends in who u choose to be with.
Great video! But you have to understand, at least a little, why the average Japanese doesn't feel compelled to accept the niisei as a part of Japan. They seem to go out of their way not to assimilate, learn the language, raise their children as Japanese (culturally,) etc. Also, the crime rate among brazilian Japanese people is very high. In a country where cultural harmony is important I can see why they are marginalized. But that does not make it right. The Japanese need to update their laws.
Ususally,,when people lose the job, they need to be back own country, it is wrong that they ask for supportment from japan. when Japanese go to earn the money in America, Brasil, Korea,and when japanese lose job, Their country support Japanese? dont their country say ,,back to Japan?
@janjan34 obviously, even if they are brazillian citizens, they still feel an affinity with japan as their "real biological mother." They are in Japan because they want to get a job and also to be with the country that they dream would welcome them as long lost kids. These are ethnic Japanese who grew up in a foreign land, you cannot stop them from feeling betrayed if the japanese government would not give them some sort of support, afterall, deep inside they are your own people.
@MonMon298 So tell me who are the thnic brazilians? do u consider the blacks to be ethnic brazilians? or the whites? ur saying that the japanese brazilians are not japanese but the blacks and white brazilians are? the black are from african descent and u say they are brazilians? the whites from european descents but u dont see them as europeans? how come the japanese are japanese but the whites and vblacks are not african or europeans? japanese in brazil are brazilians as all others.
@ElMakz i meant to say that u dont see the japanese brazilians as brazilians but u see the blacks and whits that belongs to other ethnic groups as brazilians?
@ElMakz I did not say they are4 not Brazillians. What I say is, it is very obvious that they feel a sense of being part of Japan. it is similar to how Indian people who live in and grow up in london feel a sense of being Indians from deep within them. Filipinos in California also have this kind of feelings as well as many Chinese descent people living in many China towns across the world.
But the reclaims about how Japanese gov deals with the Brazilian community may not be so different from the treatment for other foreigners. A wider point of view can illustrate such "segregation" "policy". I would be also nice to campare the policies from other countries concerning immigration issues.
It is also astonishing to know that a such developed country does not or can not afford basic education for those born there.
novajoke, It is sad but Japan is NOT Canada. Perhaps in Canada their treatment would have been much kinder. (T.hey probably would have become citizens by the time they spent this long had it been in Canada) Unfortunately, Japan needs to face some major financial castastrophe like a sovereign debt crisis and when it comes to begging for aid, that is when the world could step in and tell them to stop being xenophobic as a developed nation.
I think those who are fully ethnically Japanese just be forced to learn Japanese and assimilate and given Japanese citizenship if they wish to stay, and kick out the mestizos and non ethnic Japanese out of Japan during this economic crisis.
Your comment saddens me but I hope my government will speed up and do better job or better yet some Japanese people will start helping out these people! Thx!
Thanks for the comment. Yeah, it is certainly an issue that is under-considered in Japan and something that needs to change if Japan is going to adapt to the 21st century.
Thanks for the video! Yes this is real issue but I see two issues here. Yes Japanese gov. needs to do a better job but I was shocked to see how many children raised their hands when asked how many were born in Japan but they don't speak Japanese or not good at Japanese?? I'm sure people are doing their best to assimilate but yes more needs to be done on both sides.
This is a great piece of work. Having suffered in Brazil and being considered "Japanese". Coming to Japan, only to discover that they are considered "Brazilian". An act of pure racism by the Japanese gov

acdefabcdefabcdef 3 months ago
samjapan06 3 months ago

Waterfall714 1 year ago

Waterfall714 1 year ago

Great video! But you have to understand, at least a little, why the average Japanese doesn't feel compelled to accept the niisei as a part of Japan. They seem to go out of their way not to assimilate, learn the language, raise their children as Japanese (culturally,) etc. Also, the crime rate among brazilian Japanese people is very high. In a country where cultural harmony is important I can see why they are marginalized. But that does not make it right. The Japanese need to update their laws.

kajiatu412 1 year ago

ElMakz 2 months ago
@ElMakz i meant to say that u dont see the japanese brazilians as brazilians but u see the blacks and whits that belongs to other ethnic groups as brazilians?
ElMakz 2 months ago
@ElMakz I did not say they are4 not Brazillians. What I say is, it is very obvious that they feel a sense of being part of Japan. it is similar to how Indian people who live in and grow up in london feel a sense of being Indians from deep within them. Filipinos in California also have this kind of feelings as well as many Chinese descent people living in many China towns across the world.

Admirable documentary.
But the reclaims about how Japanese gov deals with the Brazilian community may not be so different from the treatment for other foreigners. A wider point of view can illustrate such "segregation" "policy". I would be also nice to campare the policies from other countries concerning immigration issues.
It is also astonishing to know that a such developed country does not or can not afford basic education for those born there.
thank you very much for sharing the video.

novajoke, It is sad but Japan is NOT Canada.

Thanks for the comment. Yeah, it is certainly an issue that is under-considered in Japan and something that needs to change if Japan is going to adapt to the 21st century.
samjapan06 1 year ago
@samjapan06
So. Cal! Raging Water still there?
