I built a '64 with a 2276 cammed IDF motor. Dumbest thing I ever did. I could accelerate a hell of a lot faster than I could stop. Eventually destroyed the transmission and it sat for years. Sold the entire car for less than I paid for the crank, rods and pistons. :(

@SolusKrieger Not all bugs are built. A stock bug makes probably 70hp or less. A built bug can easily reach over 300hp in a car which weighs about the same as a toaster. The power to weight ratio of that bug is many times that of the mustang.

Awesome ride dude. As a diehard Mopar man i was humbled early on. While going to school I met a VW engine guy and a few Puerto Ricans who were racing RX's with rotary "enguns" at Tulsa speedway. In 1991 we went to the VW nationals in Ennis Texas at Motorplex. Saw several very streetable bugs carry the front wheels 200 or 300 feet. Very humbling indeed!

I brought my 2442cc turbo injected 62 notch to the US last year to attend some American VW shows and had so much fun racing the American V8's on and off the track between shows , yes there is nothing like making a V8 owner cry..lol . is it me or the last few seconds of your video it sounded like you might have lost power while you revved the motor a few times, hope it was just me hearing things again..lol. great video and great bug !!!

Well a 65 Bug came with a 40 hp engine and it was slow as shit, so not any engine will make it fast.  Bugs don't get fast till over 150hp then your in the 13's.
