However if you are trying to make a free call then you can ask your friend to press on the * instead of hanging up. Pressing the star button would equal hanging up and your friend can then go on and dial the local number that appeared on his screen.

1. Would the person I am calling (who is supposed to call me back) be charged for calling me back? If my friend is getting charged then what's the point of calling through REBTEL?

2. When my friend hangs up, the call will automatically be disconnected. So how exactly am I staying on the line? Many people have asked this question (I read all the comments here) but You chose to avoid those questions.

If you make a free call the international part of the call is completely free. If you make a direct call Rebtel will charge their rates which are like 95% lower than operators or Skype.

my friend has free incoming calls. i have unlimited outgoing and incoming calls. if i call her rebtel and have her hang up and call me back, it will be free for me, but she will have to pay for outgoing.soo..would she have to call my rebtel number first, then have me hang up and call her back for her to get free incoming calls? or because she stays on the phone after calling me, to wait for me to call back.. she will still be considered to still be on an outgoing call since she never hung up?

but the thing is that when u call the other person and he hangs up, obviously ur phone will be cut too..so u cant stay on the line..when they call u back they will be charged so u cant stay on the line whenn they hang up..am i right??????

No he is not right. What happens is when you dial Rebtel it dials into there system. You stay connected to them the whole phone call until you specifically hangup. So your whole phone call you are connected to them and never have a direct connection to the other person. When you do the hangup they even tell you to wait on the line, the other caller may be trying to clal you for free. Etc

This is actually pretty old concept that was used years ago with domestic long distance.

When you call someone and that person picks up. You ask the person to call you back. The person hangup, then you hear a computer voice say "if you wait for you friend to call back please stay in the line" Then you hear a dial tone. Then your friend calls you back and you both get connected again. That's how it works! The call doesn't end until you both hangup. If you one person hangs up the other person just gets a dial tone again. Remember that you do get charged for the local call you make!

@flashback1234 my question is that when I added my friend number to my contact, rebtel gave me a local number for my friend and whenever I used the local number to call her my phone number is what is displayed on her fone and if I should asked her to call me back on the number that displayed on her fone then it means that she will be calling long distant number. Please must my friend also be a rebtel customer? I am confuse

this is good but i know a much easier way to make international calls and its also free! also, you only have to dial a phone number that is local for you and it connects to the international number. you need to check out my video and see how.

They will only get charged for the local phone number they call. Rebtel Routes the call for Afghanistan or Pakistan over the internet and connects it to your phone. Rebtel does the international part over the internet. That's where you pay for via Rebtel credit.

PEOPLE! I use the service. It works exactly as advertised. No hidden charges. No hidden fees. Just go to the website and check it out. It's really as simple as it is being demonstrated. I use it all the time. Hey, why pay for N&W minutes and not use them? I use mine to talk to people in Canada, England, and Serbia for free. You can too...if you sign up for Rebtel service that is.

The free call does not work. If the other party hangs up, either it goes into the voice mail or disconnects the line on the calling side.

Not exactly. If you call and the person never answers, you get their voicemail (and Rebtel will bill you for that). If you call and the person answers, then hangs up, but doesn't call back using their Rebtel # within 10 seconds, then you've paid for that call and you get disconnected. It's free when you call the Rebtel # that you have, the other party answers, hangs up, and calls their Rebtel # they have for you. It really does work. I've used the service for over 2 years now.

You're exactly right fatafe, I just tried it, and it did hang up my cellphone. The video did not specify whether it will work on any countries or just the rebtel countries that you can have the for free. There's really nothing free about making any of the calls. But i do like the reception of VOIP so far, it's clearer than a traditional phone lines.

It works with any of the countries that Rebtel lists on their website. As for it not really being "free" you're right. After all, if you have unlimited (free) Night & Weekend (N&W) minutes on your cell phone, you're already paying your cell company for those unlimited minutes. However, if you use Rebtel and do the Smart Call, then Rebtel charges you $0.00! I should know. I use the service.

No. You open a rebtel account by giving them your phone #. They then provide you a local Rebtel # to call (which is unique to the person you wish to call...e.g., your fiance in England). You then call that number, it rings your fiance, she hangs up, calls the Rebtel # she has assigned to you (within 10 seconds) while you wait (in Rebtel limbo, if you will), and you 2 are then instantly connected for free and you both only use up the anytime minutes on your rate plans.

You call. Your friend answers, hangs up, and must redial you in 10 seconds. Just have your friend save the number under a specific ID and then it's simple. Realistically, it should only take like 3 seconds to complete so long as you have a signal. You both would be billed by your cell phone company as if it was a local call. If you both call during N&W, then it's free for both of you.

Pay? Are you insane? Rebtel offers 2 services. The first is you get to place calls to anyone in the world and you pay Rebtel a small connection fee. The second is the free service known as "Smart Call". Don't berate a good thing if you've never tried it.
