  • I prefer the original.

  • Yes Great Cover. Luv The Stones, Love this song and the Video The Stones did of it, shot on St. Marks Place and 2nd Ave. in New York, a block I lived on for 11 years.

  • im the biggest stones fan on the planet.. this is a nice cover . GREAT JOB EDDIE

  • i luv the stones and this is a nice live cover

  • Its a great cover. whats with you people? it doesnt have to be the same as The Stones.

  • lady? naaaahhh!

just waiting on a real friend....

  • very cool cover. love it.

  • Brilliant share, mate.

  • :........)

  • Uma de minhas canções favoritas do Stones por uma das minhas bandas prediletas!

  • How can you not love Eddie's beautiful voice. I love every cover he has ever done and this is a very good song by the Stones. Always liked it alot.: )

  • dont be so goddamned cheap just good videos

  • sounds like crap,,, live it to the stones!!!

  • Lovely!!

  • Great cover. One of the reasons that Pearl Jam can cover songs so well is the emotion that Eddie puts into the vocals. He seems to know what the original writers were thinking when they put words onto paper.

  • What about the piano?

  • loved it, thank you!

  • just amazing!!!!

hey I've a question.....what camera you used to record the video? the audio and video quality are excellent!!!....and I'm about to buy a new camera so I'll be thankfull for your help =)

    best regards

  • its strange..its a nice enough cover but..

the stones have a strange quality bout them that loose feel that seemingly no one else can do..

    ty for posting

  • It can't get any better than Pearl Jam. Best band in several decades.

  • Flattens out the melody to nothing. Pearl Jam does some good covers. This is not one of them.

  • @mechslave who says a cover has to be the same as the original?...nothing is as good as the original..but its nice to see bands of this calibar pay respect to the greats from the past

  • Love this song and Pearl Jam rocks it out!!!

  • excelente version !!! gracias Pearl Jam !!!

    Saludos From Chile......

  • Wonderful cover! I love both Pearl Jam and Stones!!

  • LOVE STONES

  • It's an under rated song but then maybe it's been swamped by their output... anyway, super cover here and much respect to Pearl Jam...

  • What a Fabulous SONG!!!!

  • Great rendition of this Stones song by Eddie and the band. Great voice for this song Eddie has.

  • Fantastic cover by Eddie Vedder´´s band!

  • Beautiful tribute. Pearl Jam rocks.

  • Pearl Jam got it

  • does the crowd even know what song is being played?

  • wow !!!!

  • bezveze

  • Pearl Jam is alright!!!! in my book....

  • I love all the stupid arguing when there is a beautiful song playing about loving a friend. Weird. Make love not war, folks!!!!

  • Great Stones cover!!!

  • Really nice cover, wasn't sure if I'd like it but Eddy does a great job. I'll check this out often!

  • I miss the sax, but this is a really nice version. I'm glad I came across it.

  • only one thing that I miss is saxophone, besides everything Pearl Jam touch is better than original if it is possible and if not - is as good as it :)

  • great song I was at that show a lot of fun!

  • But if you are a Rolling Stones fan, what does it matter if they tried. I happy they did.

  • the fact that you think Fortunate Son is even in the top 10 of their covers shows what a clueless dickwad you are.

  • you're a stupid prick

  • Yeah, so what are you going to do about it? Put on Vs. and wish it was 1994 again? Cry angry tears into your beat up flannel shirt? Smoke a joint and wish you weren't a line cook at Burger King? Loser.

  • No thanks, I don't smoke. Nor do I work in Burger King. And yeah I might listen to Vs, but I don't wish it was 1994 because then I would only be 3 years old. I do however wish I grew up as a teenager in the 90s then I would have been surrounded by good music. And for the record Pearl Jam have done some of the greatest covers ever so shut the fuck up. You're obviously a judgmental prick that knows nothing about anything. Fuck off you're opinions and presence aren't welcome here.

  • Just like a Pearl Jam fan. You want to spew your opinion, but when somebody else has one different than yours, you call them a prick and tell them to shut up. Ironically, I was at a PJ show when Eddie ranted about political shit. The crowd booed him and told him to shut up and sing. So he whines, "There's free speech, man!" What?!!! Somebody just expressed free speech and you got mad, Eddie! Pearl Jam logic.

BTW, I'm glad to hear you don't smoke weed. At least your stupidity is organic.

  • The last part of that comment (BTW, I'm glad to hear you don't smoke weed. At least your stupidity is organic) was uncalled for. I apologize.

  • Its not that you had a different opinion to me, you said eddie was a prick and a full blown asshole or something along those lines, when everyone knows hes a really nice down to earth guy, and in my and many other peoples opinions one of the greatest singer/song writers of our time. I just thought what you said was a little harsh hence the reply. (And I hate it when anyone rants about political shit as well, but Eddie is no Bono or Stipe)

  • You're right, Xseries, my initial comments about EV were harsh. As were my comments to you. Sorry. Believe it or not, I am a PJ fan. But EV's rant pissed me off. It was right after 9/11 and I felt the comments were a little over the top. (I live in NYC and saw the towers fall.) In an interview EV trashed people who didn't agree with him. It seemed angry and spiteful. I took umbrage. But Eddie probably is a good soul, and passionately believes what he's saying. I'm sorry I offended people here.

  • I appreciate that, its nice to see you aren't like most of the pricks on youtube that like to draw out pointless arguments. I apoligize also, even although I know that you won't have taken any offense to anything I said because it seems it isn't true. Nonetheless I'm also sorry. And just out of curiousity have you seen Eddie Vedder and Neil Young at the 9/11 tribute for heroes performing the song Long Road? Its a very emotional and respectful performance. And I wish I stayed in NYC, I love it.

  • Yeah, it's funny how people can get all worked up on these comment streams. It's not normally my style. Can't say I ever saw the EV and Neil Young duet. I'll have to see if it's on here.

  • that's a funny rank about weed. I used to say to non-pot smokers; "Here, smoke this! At least now you'll have an excuse for your stupidity!" And I'm the one handing them the joint! Strangely enough, weed doesn't slow me down at all. It actually fuels me. People are either smart or dumb regardless. Pot just relaxes you and gives you the mega munchies. Nothing more. Unless you smoke that high test Kryptonite shit that they design in labs. That shit is practically Acid! Yikes!

  • Easy with the chronic my friend. It may seem harmless, but I have a friend who sells his ass on the street for a couple hits off a dirt weed roach. it's pathetic. I'm like, "Dude, the least you can do is get hooked on crack if you're gonna sell yourself to freaks." But seriously, easy with that stuff. It kills brain cells and they never come back, as you can tell from my posts. And those Ho Ho binges can really put the wait on.

  • I meant "put the weight on" not wait. See what herb does to you? I haven't smoked since '94, and I'm still brain dead.

  • Fantastic cover! I love the original, but this version is equally great and much smoother - like Vedder's having a conversation with each of us - one on one. Very nice!

  • Great cover . I sat here wondering if Vedder was going to jump to his feet , put his hands on his hips , and start prissing back and forth accross the stage ... would've been funny !

  • Wicked version, Pearl Jam truoy was the creme of the 90's bands.

  • really good !!!!

  • Never heard such a bad version of this great great song :-(

  • Yeah, miss the crying saxophone.

  • Great Cover

  • I thought it was good. Original only means the first, not always the best.

  • ~ love the original ~ but give Eddie kudos for covering it ~

  • I agree:>

  • no where near as good as the original, but pearl jam knows that. i'm a big big PJ fan, and its nice to know the band shares some of my personal favorites. rock on, i can't wait for the solo tour my tix just came!!!

  • where is the hohoho ?

  • fuck that

  • Eddie Vedder is a God!

  • great cover of the stones

  • does it look like he is playing a rickenbacker or a grtesch. I'm sorry I don't kmow much about Pearl Jam.

  • Rickenbacker bro....Keep on rockin..

  • Sorry, but this is barn jam level. Eddy`s the only guy doing the job. It`s just not groovin with the sparkle I`d expect from these guys .

  • eddie could make a britney spears song sound good.. He is the king of making his version better than the original.

  • I like this version too, but the original is still better. I'd never heard this, but is sounds relly cool. Besides the best guy at stealing other music and building a career off making crappy hits from other people good songs and work is Puff Daddy or Coco Puff or whatever he's going by these day.

  • Their version of Love, Reign o'er Me is out of control. Eddie is an animal. Long live Pearl Jam

  • 4 my best friends he pass away 5 years ago..thx ed

  • Fine rendition of Stones song. Criminally this song is NOT on the Stones 40 Licks CD!! Anyway Eddie has just produced a cover comparable to the Stones. Thanks for posting this.

  • Surpreendente!!waiting on a friend é uma bela canção!! Na voz do Ed ainda ficaou melhor!!!

  • # !1

  • Just goes to show that Eddie Veddor has a cool soft side. LOve this song and Pearl Jam.

  • Pearl jam singing waiting on a friend is a joke?

  • i think it's great. is your post a joke?

  • Alfredo,

I feel you with me more and more and want to thank you for all of your blessings and assistance.

Never again will I be blind to the good willed energy you bestow.

    With love,

    Felipe

    Felipe

  • Everyday ;(

Look forward to seeing my baby with your eyes and heart hopefully!

  • I miss you Alfredo

  • Good cover...very good

Pearl Jam; best band of the attuality!!

  • bahh.. it has not pluck. it's dead. these folks are very talented.. but, boys.. ya gotta get some pluck! rock out, dammit! godbless.

  • true that, it is what it is so shut up and listen. who cares about your comment, unless it is positive. the world sucks enough don't add to it. peace everybody!!!!!

  • Why does everything have to be a damn competition?

    This isn't sports, it's music.

The Stones version is great. Pearljam's cover is great too.

Why does one HAVE to be BETTER than the other?!?!

I'm glad there are a few versions of this great SONG out there.

  • Great cover of an excellent tune. Vedder is ALWAYS best when he's not screaming his head off.

  • PJ didn't ruin the song. And if you hate them since Vitalogy, you are missing out. This was one of the coolest moments of the show.

  • Ruined song, i hate Pearl Jam since Vitalogy. The Stones are incomparable, others have tried and failed.

  • never liked this song, dont mind the cover

  • Great cover by a band obviously influenced by the stones(read any interview by Mike McCready) I am a massive Stones fan and dig when one of my other favorite bands gives credit to an overlooked classic.

  • now that was a cool surprise!

  • Greatest

    Coverband

    Ever

  • For this one, Matt Cameron should've ditched the drums for a more subtle bongo drum. He stomped over an otherwise beautifully performed song.

  • He should never have hit his snair dead on. You can get by playing the click like Charlie did in the original but lay off the snair skin.

  • they are playing a version of the version, they are not a fucking Stones tribute band trying to replicate and copy exactly the original....so clean the shit off your mouth before it starts falling onto the floor

  • Vedders voice suits this song much better. Just heard the live version from the RS ...didn't care to much for it. This song doesn't sound good with that high pitch sound you hear from the RS.

  • great song. I liked the Santa Barbara version better. It sounds more rehearsed. Thanks for the video.

  • Not to be nitpicky, but the song is called "Waiting ON A Friend"

  • Thank you for your correction.. it is fixed now.

  • Never heard them do that one before, very cool thanks :)

  • aw man it was so friking awesome
