  • Let me tell what I thought of this song when it came out in 1986 when it was on the radio almost every day. I thought that the person singing was a boy not a girl. I also thought her singing was a bit off (but more realistic) at times despite the more professional sounding backing vocal. In fact, I thought this was simply a recording of a school choir/band done on purpose sent to some radio station. However, I liked it because of its melody and not because of its unusual production.

  • well, i was born in 1985 so wasn't around to really enjoy the 80's but i would say that this song proves that you didn't have to win exfactor. or any similar show back then to get reckognised

  • i was 11 when this came out i drove my parent nuts singing it over and over and over

  • I was 7 when this song came out and i was SO jealous of this girl!!! lol

  • I was in the video of this, they filmed it in tufnell park primary school. I was 9.

  • Ah playground memories!! Also grew up in a northern town and remember all the kids singing this as we were all 9 at the time. Saw the video years later on TOTP2 and it stated Claire went on to join the River dance cast years later. Guess she decided dancing was more her thing!!

  • us tooo!!!

  • I was 8 1/2 when this came out too, and had just moved from the North and also talked like that, so yes some kids do!!!! If your a classically trained singer you get rid of the accent while your singing, but not when you're just a bunch of schoolkids bringing out a single for a giggle! Great song, love it, brings back wonderful memories of the school playground running around singing it!!!!

  • reminds us of brownie gang show, we love it!!!!
