  • fucking well said.

  • Wow, this vid is justtoo cool..

...."Before ya know it, we're singing in church." Ha!

.... "And around perdition's flames before I give him up!"

This last ST quote reminded me of Achilles chilling words to Hector that, "in his chariot, he'd drag Hector's dead body around the city of Troy!"

What I liked most though, was the words you chose in how you put it to veritas48 that all the gimmicks and attempts at subterfuge, simply won't work. They cannot substantiate the claim that their god's exists.

  • Bahahahaha. First thing you say is pretty funny.

  • RejectedAdvert

U said; "Am I advocating religion? No.I'm advocating open mindedness"

    I don't believe u.

To say that atheists r not open minded is absurd. We freely admit that we don't have all the answers. Xians on the other hand, arrogantly proclaim they do!! Now that's what u call close minded.

Atheists don't say there is no god. Nothing is 199% certain or knowable. But we do say there's no evidence 4 any ghost-gods...not that I've seen, and why commit & submit, to a belief that is untenable?

  • @Cootabux

I was advocating that neither side can prove anything definitively. If I were commenting on a video supporting Christianity, I'd talk about how they place all their beliefs in a book without any sort of evidence.

I'm actually an atheist. A nihilist, even. I don't support religion, but I don't support blindly claiming that God doesn't exist simply based on a lack of evidence. You can't prove there is no "Ghost god", and they can't prove there is.

  • RejectedAdvert

If u r an atheist, u should be familiar with the fact that the burden of proof is always the responsibility of the claimant. As an atheist u should also know that one cannot prove a negative...and we need not anyway, since the theist has the burden of proof. And, I'm truly baffled that as an atheist, u should know that we don't claim "there is no god." We can't claim that for reasons previously stated. We...or I, say, "I don't believe ur god claims b/c u provide no evidence.

  • @Cootabux

You need to prove that the world came into existence in any other way than God to prove the nonexistence of said god.

Even if you prove that the world came into being through natural means, there could still be a supreme being outside of our reality.

If you don't believe that you can say "There is no god" then obviously none of my statements have been directed at you. I'm saying neither side can prove with certainty, and you're pretty much arguing with me and saying THE SAME THING

  • @Cootabux

So, in sum, shut the fuck up. You're just trying to start a debate and show how smart you are.

If you wanna be taken seriously, learn to type.

  • Very funny wrath of kahn quotes ha ha. Your a funny guy, great videos.

  • Captain Picard needs to stop chasing moby dick.

(and yes, I realise it's more of a star trek 2 quote)

  • this is epic

  • i love youtube, it forces theists to see the truth

  • lol he's also into publishing

  • he is also into publishing! haha good stuff.

  • Objective answer to the Is Ought dichotomy without faith. aynrandlexicon (dot) com/lexicon/is-ought_dichotomy.html

  • Yep! you sound like a moron, er..atheist

  • @fundreamer1 haha, good one.

    You are kidding, right?

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking this. I was worried that I was dismissing all that "ought from an is" stuff because I wasn't smart enough to get it, but I kept feeling like it was all window dressing for something that wasn't there. You can make a lot of nothing sound almost reasonable if you're good with words but none of that makes god appear or anything.

  • Faith is a fragile thing, my friend. Atheists love to answer questions. The faithful don't, or can't. I responded to both of Veritas48's 5 questions 4 Atheists vids & then made a 5 question vid of my own for believers. I sent it to V-48 in a PM & asked if he'd respond. I thought my questions were easy. I got no vid, or text response. Not even a return PM saying, screw you, atheist! Nothing. I think you're right about his intellectual "hamster-wheeling". Pretty lame.

  • This is hilarious, you have to be joking.

  • How cheesy can you get?

You think the Bible was made by a committee? lol

Then you quote Star Trek "The Wrath Of Khan" (that is partially quoting someone else) so we got a quote of a qute of a half quote; clever.

  • It is astonishing how so many people liked this video... you said not one relevant thing to the argument. Made me nauseous... truly, it made me nauseous.

  • your sad and delusioned. i know that God exists my friend! why did other religions make up their minds on to who they should worship. other worlds religions had their own gods, so you should see that people have the mind to find the one true God. were not forcing them or YOU. you seem to have lost touch of your soul. GOT HEART? PEOPLE LIKE YOU COMMIT SUICIDE....GO AND FIND GOD AGAIN MY FRIEND.

  • @Catholicist Wow, that's the most incoherent, rambling piece of useless linguistic trash I've ever read.

Every time I hear a "believer" try to speak the truth, I am reminded how their beliefs are founded on nothing more that sheer ignorance and utter wishful thinking.

Do you have anything even remotely intelligent to add to the ongoing discourse concerning truth? If not, then do us all a favor and shut your pie hole.

  • @LetReasonPrevail1 found on nothing?where is your history? oh, all of sudden you just came about?you know, i maybe i was bit harsh, but i'm speaking the truth.the suicide rate has climbed up again because of this evil media that puts pressure on what and what's not. the great lie that SATAN tells to people that HE does not EXIST! Therefore, people don't believe in God. I care and sadden for people who preach or tell others that God is an illusion or not existing.

  • @LetReasonPrevail1 you can call whatever you want it doesn't make a difference my friend. YOU DON'T KNOW ME, AND I DON'T KNOW YOU! BUT I WILL SAY THIS IT'S NOT WASTE OF TIME FOR ME, AND I LIKE TO HELP AND SAVE PEOPLE. ALSO I STUDIED PHILOSOPHY IN COLLEGE AND IT'S CONTRIDICTING IT'S ABSOLUTE TRUTH OF IT'S LOGIC(S). THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU MY FRIEND!

  • @Catholicist I could care less that you studied philosophy in college. It means nothing. You are just being intellectually lazy & trying to use an appeal to authority, which is one of the most common logical fallacies used by theists

FYI, just because something can be logically stated provides no assurance that the related conclusion is true at all.

So you can logically argue god's existence until you are blue in the face & it proves nothing.

Do you, Bill Craig & veritas48 understand this?

  • @LetReasonPrevail1 i don't know veritas, but he seems very smart of philosophical arguments. but me on the other hand i don't use philosophy, because catholicism overlaps all that is made into or by to an atheists.i do not argue only by the book,i have found God,and i wasn't even raised religious. my parents weren't very pushy, nevertheless we are still catholics in no doubt.if i tell u pray our father 7times 7doesn't mean it's a magical thing.

  • @Catholicist I suggest to you that instead of trying to find "god", we are all better served by instead focusing our philosophical efforts toward trying to find "truth".

The search for truth in no way entails seeking to answer the unanswerable. Namely, what happens to us (if anything) when we die.

I challenge you to be honest with yourself & admit that you have no idea. And guess what? That's OK. It's part of what it means to be a human being. There is nothing wrong with not knowing.

  • @LetReasonPrevail1 i don't even have to try to find God,GOD FOUND ME! i have to doubts, but you do and that is why YOU ARE WHAT YOU THINK, BUT NOT AS IF YOU THINK THEN YOU ARE! i came here in America and i find too much freedom of speech being abused by those who are against the C.C. and other people's private lives. for instance, Tiger Woods, look what they have done to him. why? that is why i hate the media i don't watch fox cnn msnbc cause their reporters are sellouts to get into people a fair

  • @Catholicist I appreciate your desire to "save" people. But here is my issue with such efforts. They are a monumental waste of time assuming there is no god. Instead, why not spend your life trying to be the best person you can, trying to not waste your talents & the opportunities provided to you, and trying to enhance the lives of those around you?

This I assert is a much more worthwhile endeavor to pursue versus trying to "save" people.

    Your thoughts?

  • @LetReasonPrevail1 thank you, it takes no effort, just ask God for guidence in the name of Christ and you will see. but God is not some kind of Lottery or wishful power to believe him only when he does something for you. let clearify, if you want to God to listen to you, then listen to him. meaning don't do things that are not holy, pornagraphy, sex before marriage, so on. it doesn't have to be rape and murder for someone to think now that is sinful or bad.

  • @LetReasonPrevail1do help people TEACH MARTIAL ARTS self-defense.ISNT THAT COINCIDENCE. there is no excuse priests to abuse,of course not, but not even 1P.C priest have done that. almost 2billion C including I having kids,i was a kid i always had priests and if it happens thats up to me and priest not the WHOLE CATHOLIC CHURCH.the media makes alot. public school in10yrs they have abused more than 20,000kids than priests in 60yrs.people shouldn't compare teaching of CC as if it's guilty or pope

  • @Catholicist So you're a catholic I presume. Shouldn't you be snuggly hiding in shame in a hole somewhere due to your vicar of Christ on earth (Heir Ratzinger) being exposed for the pedofile protector that he is?

    For shame, for shame.

We all have one job to do above all else in life. Namely, to protect our children from monsters.

You & your fellow catholics entrusted your most precious asset to a bunch of old, hysterical, sinister, out-of-touch with reality virgins.

  • @LetReasonPrevail1 is that all you have to say? that's your guys' problem, you listen too much to the media. read or find out the governments are doing, such like the russia who are trying to report priests sexual abusers after trying to preach about Jesus Christ. shame on all of you who thinks this way. the media has become you bible.

  • @Catholicist I didn't threaten you, you moron. I told you exactly how you and your fellow catholics have failed miserably to protect your children.

The rest of your reply was incoherent dribble.

I'm guessing you are mentally unstable or just plain retarded.

Either way, you are waste of space and my time.

Did I mention you are a moron? Just in case you already forgot, I thought I'd remind you.

  • @LetReasonPrevail1you don't even know, the who abused kids was removed. but Ratzinger was about only 2months before the priest died he revealed it. so sad, media makes it sound all priests, but not even 1% were catholic priests. open your eyes wide open, protestants, jahovahs, mormans, hindus(so called gods of people), POLICEMAN, FIREMAN, TRUCKDRIVERS, INSTITUTIONS. DO YOU WANT ME TO GO ON. so shut your pole next TIME. DON'T REPLY WITH THREATS.

  • @Catholicist Here is the difference that you are missing.

If a secular teacher abuses a child, the school & the community expose the teacher, fire the teacher, and turn the teacher into the police for prosecution.

Time & time again, when a priest was discovered to have abused a child, the catholic church did none of these things. Instead, they protected the priest from the police and transferred the priest to another parish. They protected the molester & not the child!

  • @Catholicist And what makes this worse is that the catholic church presents itself as god's authority here on earth. If you make such an extraordinary claim, then you are required to live up to a much HIGHER standard than everyone else. However, they didn't even live up to a normal standard of ethics when it came to protecting children. They completely failed, and the reason why is that they are out of touch with the real world, because they don't live in the real world.

  • @LetReasonPrevail1 sorry, but that is rideculously false! it's authority to keep the intrepretation of the bible on top of any outside churches. we have 30000plus denominations, and still adding. why? because they can't agree everytime they're finding something in the bible that is being true, for instance christ told us to receive his parish body and blood in rememberance, not this is his symbol.

  • @Catholicist Priests and nuns quarantine themselves from the rest of society, they deny themselves the basic human desire to find a mate and have children. As such, it is no wonder that their view of children & the world in general is warped.

The result is that when a predator priest is exposed, their first instinct is to show compassion toward and to protect their own kind, namely, the priest in question. But the rest of us know the right thing to do is the first protect the children.

  • @LetReasonPrevail1 you seem to listen too much of the new york times, cnn, msnbc news. what i just say about public. let me actually clearify the number that gave you before = 250000 have been abused by public schools and professions within only 10yrs not even adding the rest, NOT PRIEST! so i suggest reexamining your views of priests and nuns. who helps the children more than any institutions, THE CATHOLIC CHURCH, NOT ATHEISTS. so are WE out of touch now?

  • I notice your video doesn't have that yellow bar saying it's a response to one of Veritas's videos.

    Were you blocked?

    watch?v=DwfkyT-RoCM

  • holy shitballs i almost pissed my goddam pants.

    'the is' and the oughts.'

    'the god of publishing.'

  • 'same ol grizzle' lol

  • Oh, and I love "Hamster-wheel" as a verb. That is money.

  • Very cool Khan quote at the end there. And a nice video all the way through.

  • That my friends is how you lay a good smack down honest and controlled smack down.

    Great vid good sir

  • O.K., I really wasn't following you on this video at all, but 10,000 mega points for the Khan at the end....

  • If you listened closely to his video, in this series that he is producing, is from the basis of a pre-agreeding aspect of what is meant by God, and not the Christian God. I don't think he is trying to convert you, but defend a stance. Your presumptions of what free thinking is, is one sided. I'm glad he "tasks" you...

  • Damn! That was good.

  • @dimbulb23 Seconded!

  • thirded... is that a word?

  • It would almost have to be.

  • Veritas48 thinks he's smart but I think he's a common bigot.

  • Haha nice video, man. Those theists have started resorting to vague ad hominems because you struck a chord.

    + 5 stars

  • This is perhaps one of the greatest responses of intellectual bankruptcy and sophistry that I have ever witnessed here on YouTube.

Good job, you get a virtual cookie for resurrecting Greek pseudo intellectualism.

  • @DawahFilms lol I always thought of him as the Black Christopher Hitchens. He can take it as a compliment (but did I meant it to be?! :P)

  • @DawahFilms Here here

  • i know this is an old video series, but you really didn't address anything veritos said.

you just seem proud, with no real argument at all.

this video is just ad hominal attacks on his character, rather then his argument. you have failed to convince me of anything intellectually stimulating.

    i merit you no points...

  • I can tell he hasn't done his homework.

  • Man, do you have anything to say at all against his argument? I admit its very weak, but still, acting smug doesn't address anything.

  • wow you really haven't presented any arguments at all! ... 4:27... well well

  • leave something of him for me....i will be there soon.

  • all religions even the hindus claim to believe in One God, so its not neccesarily the christian God, just the CREATOR.

Islam means submission to the One God

    Islam is the truth

    Peace

  • I like the star trek reference at the end. wrath of khan is one of my favorite movies.

  • freaking awesome. "God is into publishing"lol

"hamster wheel it" "create a world where your truth can live" the latter one is superb bro. It is

the best one I've heard. I have no choice but to steal it man. It roundly describes theism to the core. I think scott continues to pound down theist arguments like I pound down beer bottles on friday nights but this time I like your refutal best. good one bro.

Theist OUGHT to get out of their mental traps.

    5 stars

  • OMG you were channeling Ricardo Montoban.

im your willing servant capt. Ahab. no spanish once required.

  • good, but no TheoreticalBullshit

  • "He tasks me!" reminded me of star trek II.

  • Veritas's is-ought argument is just another God-of-the-gaps argument, and thus it can be safely ignored.

I'm not at all impressed by these theists who like to throw philosophical conundrums around, because it ultimately always comes back to the same lame argument.

    "God did it."

Veritas48 is weak, but this is actually pretty bad, even for him.

  • And your point is????

  • Ad Homs, Strawman Arguments, bearly concealed contempt...hmm

I don't see you 'having' him anytime soon.

    Khan lost remember.

  • I like your videos, but I'm not sure if you want to really channel Khan Noonien Singh, seeing how he, you know, *lost*. ^_^

  • Yes, that's the way christians do their appologetic: jumping from the "remote possibility of god's existence" to "god is a trinity and jesus is his son".

Is like someone trying to convince you they have a computer at home and as soon as you accept the possibility they jump up of joy saying "So at my house i have a 1000Tb of RAM, 1 gazillion Gb HDD, 1 million inch screen LCD laptop".

  • You are awesome.

Keep on preaching (oh the irony..) :P

  • If we just do things to please a spooky man in the sky, on the fear of punishment if we don't do this things, why would that make us good people? If god is real it makes the 'good' things we do worthless; we're not doing them because we want to help anyone, but from fear of godly reprisal. Surely this whole idea destroys the notion of morality (a person acting in a moral way who is under some duress or influence is not a moral person)

  • ownage. make more videos.

  • seems like you didnt say anything to counter his arguments lol.

  • good to see you posting again. It must hurt V's head to twist the logic of the world to fit his myth.

  • um...wut exactly is your argument? this is 4.5 minutes of mostly sophistry.

  • "god is also into publishing" AWESOME!!

Great to see another video by you!

  • Well spoken! As you imply, the belief in a creator is paradoxical. What meaning can there possibly be in a creation that has no meaning except as the work of its creator? Why would a god create cannon fodder to aim back at himself?

  • I always videos, Christ!!!! Please, keep making them!!!!

  • you might not make quantity but you make quality

  • Where are you Cristofer?

  • Good video.

  • I always enjoy your no-nonsense down-to-earth responses to Veritas48. I think they're a necessary counterpoint to his musings and you do it like no one else. I too have missed your videos.

  • So it has been established ... you are a video tease. Just giving us a little taste wanting for more. lol Where the hell have you been? I have missed you.

  • god i miss listening to you haha... simply put, voice of reason

  • These needs to be said more often. People argue with apologists as if they had a defensible position, when all they have are substanceless, regurgitated already refuted arguments. They are no different from creationists and yet people treat them as though they were.

  • 'This'

  • Well spoken sir!

  • He tasks me and I shall have him!

  • 'MMOBYYYY!!!!'

    ;-)

  • I never understood how a god could turn an "is" into an "ought" anyways.

It comes down to "He says so." Full stop. Fail.

  • Comment removed

  • here, fishy, fishy... ;) come to pappa!

  • I put it this way - Oughts ARE Is's. I ought to do X means doing X works towards some goal that I have, or something I want. I want Y, I do not want Z - these are Is's. Doing X works towards Y and not Z - this is an Is. I should do X - this is an Ought, which is a compound Is relating the consequences of an action with goals or desires. There is no gap to be bridged.

  • Your response was awesome though

  • I love this video. It may not be the best response to his argument, but it's the best response his argument deserves.

  • Most of the response to veritas are pretty much just giving him the philosophical version of a reach around.

  • I wish I was God.

  • Love the Khan quote.

  • very good

  • Theoreticalbullshit has clearly showed how flawed veritas48 "premise"/"argument" is/was. ★★★★★

    Katalyzt

  • If mah gawd didnt exist I would go and punch a midgit!

Srsly. Morality needs no telepathy from a deity.

  • Your vids never cease to impress. Direct and ruthless without being a dick.

I wish you made these more often, but quality>quantity for sure!

  • I'm always happy to see you've made a new video. That publishing comment was a good laugh; way to rickle that in there.

  • Brando, if you want blame someone, don't blame the true-believer,(e.g. Veritas48) blame Hume. He said: The rules of morality are not the conclusion of our reason. What results from this premise? You got it. Any non-rational justification for grounding morality (e.g. consensus, tribalism, mysticism, religion). Human Life = Oughts. If a designer existed there would be no oughts. Reality would be dependent on God. The designer could whimsically change reality, after all, he designed it.

  • 5 stars as usual!!

  • Man-hug to the big guy. :)

  • It's one thing to attack his beliefs, but you still don't provide a reason why he shouldn't believe what he does regardless of how ludicrous it may seem to you or how pragmatically wrong it actually is...which is what I believe his video is addressing. I may be wrong but I assume you're one of those atheists who despite dropping the whole god thing still clings to the idea of objective values and meanings.

  • Maybe we should call Veritas "Stretch" a fitting nic name I think

  • Great vid tho

  • Dude your really a youtuber I look forward to seein' videos from. You been slackin lately mofo.

  • LOL @ publishing

  • Hey Brando!

Appreciate the bypassing of any of the content I present. I can always expect from you nothing but the most well meaning ad hominem. Take care :)

  • There was NOTHING ad hom in this video, everything was talking about your arguement, maybe if you actually listen instead of being the steryotipical, "Christian who cries Ad Hom" you might realise that, and you're, "Content" is nothing but re-used arguements.

  • What a childish response.

You didn't address his point, which was that you have no justification for the claim that god is the thing that makes an 'is' into an 'ought' - apart from "he said he did".

  • Veritas48, like you evade the refutations provided by Objectivists? :)

  • Hey! That's almost EXACTLY what you said to me today! For someone with a grasp of philosophy you sure use "ad hominem" very loosely. It's only ad hom if that's ALL there is.

You believe dead bodies stand up and fly. Use all the big words and (necessarily) convoluted arguments you like, you still get 0 for wisdom. Historicity? Name a book that deals ONLY in history that says in the year 29-36 CE a man rose from the dead in the middle east. If it's HISTORICAL, it SHOULD be in MOST of them.

  • ad ho⋅mi⋅nem /æd ˈhɒmənəm ‑ˌnɛm, ɑd-/ adjective 1. appealing to one's prejudices, emotions, or special interests rather than to one's intellect or reason.

    2. attacking an opponent's character rather than answering his argument.

    Here's to learning new things.

  • "nothing but the most well meaning ad hominem."

    Dishonesty is not an argument.

ps. Do you ever wash that hat of yours?^^

  • In the name of all that is not HOLY, MAKE MORE VIDS!!

    I have such a man-crush on you!

  • You made a video? Wow.

  • from hells hot, i stab at thee

for hates sake, i spit my last breath at thee

  • Yes!

  • "It takes a lot of concepts to put together something that just isn't real—you don't have the benefit of just pointing to some obvious truth. You have to put together a world where your truth can live." - Cristofer7

Damn, Brando, this is why I listen to every word of your videos--there are always some gem phrases to take away.

  • Kaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhn!

  • Enjoyed the entire video but the wrapup was terrific!

  • Welcome back, Chris. Great video, as usual.

  • Hah, I like the quote from Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan, which is actually a throwback to good ole Moby Dick. Though, you're quoting Ahab (In a sense), whom of course dies fighting his fight.

  • Great video as usual. I love your channel, glad you're one of us! =)

  • veritas is a dumb ass trying to pass shitty ass logic as

'real' logic, or at least coherent

  • Good to see you back.

  • Without a designer there is no oughts.

  • Why not?

  • "ought"s are simply conditional--based on a verbal reordering of a statement explaining how things work.

  • Fail.

  • Mjhavok "Fail"

OK genius we know brakes should stop a car (using Veritas's example) but the ought denotes a purpose that was "designed"

Tell me what a cloud "ought" to do. Not what it can do, but what it ought to do.?

  • You are using the word incorrectly.

Oughts are a product of humans and our language.

    They are conditional.

  • Mjhavok,

You are correct but do you understand WHY Veritas is using an ought,... to infer god. If the world was designed by god then he can attribute oughts to god.

I'm saying if the world was not designed then he can't use god to explain his oughts. No designer = no oughts.

  • good work chris

  • 2:30

"You don't have the benefit of just pointing to some obvious truth. You have to create a world where your truth can live"

    lol good one
