98GtConvt - I have recorded a perfect score for boards 1-21 with no continuous forward motion patterns and yet I utilize routines to align or group the ghosts and to clear the board after all the ghosts have been eaten. The so called free style method you employ on these boards will not work on the 2 sec(1st Apple, 1st & 2nd Grapes, 1st Bell) and 1 sec boards(1st Galaxian, 2nd Bell, 1st Key, 3rd, 4th and 6th Key). You may also have trouble on the 4 and 3 sec boards(1st and 2nd Orange).
No one would play the ninth key onwards without using a pattern and you do not rotate them. Even if you started playing the ninth key boards patternless, you would begin automatically developing a pattern subconsicously.
Patternless play refers only to the first 18 screens where the ghosts change color. Playing those perfectly without a pattern is rather easy if you know simple grouping techniques.
@FlipThisChorme The big piece of glass was a mirror. He's obvioulsy a stalker, because every mirror I look into anywhere, that guy is always staring back at me.

98GtConvt -- My questions are, 1). Have you accomplished a perfect score on Pac-Man in one sitting? 2). Are you using MAME? and if so which version?
Thank you,
David Race(Fastest Perfect Pac-Man, 3hrs 34min 8sec)

I saw a guy get a perfect Pac-Man score once. I ran into him later in the bathroom. He was staring at me through this big piece of glass.
