Chinese or Asian box turtles are actually much more aquatic than other box turtles...

Cool turtles.Back in the 90's a place called Turtle Beach on the Delta had turtle races.We brought a couple CBT's & they cleaned up--easily won every race that day.My daughter(12 at the time)was "racing" them & she was interviewed on 2 local t.v. stations & 3 radio stations after the races. :-)

I helped my box turtles eat a banana. I hold the banana in one place for them. its the least you could of done.

He doesn't like it when people touch his food. He'll walk away from it. That's why we let him be. We did cut the banana into smaller pieces afterward for him to eat.

I don't think it's a big deal that they work for their food. Food isn't cut up for them in the wild.

@kyleray1234 - Box turtles are great turtles. I had 9 nine now geting Ready to buy another one realler than get one from the wild, Sure its cheaper. But I say this... they will become home sick and soon get sick and die.

@misspikachushit - This turtle is a Subsepise to a Tortoise and a Turtle. Most of the time there on land but, You can find them in neck high water sometimes. Thats goes the for the same as a Eastern Box turtles as well.

But it depends on what kind of turtle/ tortoise. It's bad for African tortoises, aquatic turtles, of course....should be fine for box turtles.

I have Malayan box turtle which is cousin to this one. But this turtle only lives on land and the malayan live on land and spends most there life in the water.

ok, you're right. however this turtle and the malayan box turtle are extremely threatened in the wild and to own them as pets is disgusting and wrong. let alone illegal if you live anywhere outside of their native habitats
