Luckily we only had a couple months left on our lease agreement and we just decided after 5 years with Essex Property Trust we needed to take our business elsewhere. Days after we left we find out they added an option in the lease agreement if a person loses their job in the middle of their lease they have the option to break their lease hmmm? I wonder if our situation had something to do with that.
A couple of days later we had the rent money and we tried turning it in but they would not except it until we had paid them an additional $660 for court fees and paper work to stop the eviction. Of course we paid them I mean what renter would take us on with and eviction in our history. To top it off a few weeks ago their Utility Management company AUM contacts us threatening us with collections of $280 after we gave them a deposit of $1200.
rented an apartment from these people a couple of years ago and my advice is "DON'T DO IT. I had been a faithful tenant to the Essex Property Trust for 5 years always paying my rent on time. But when my roommate lost her job during the recession we automatically struggled to pay the rent. We were 11 days late and they sued us for breaking the contract, sent a process server to serve papers to evict us continued...
Thanks for the comment and stopping by to view the video!
